• Someone should probably explain the reason for the creation of the General 1d thread. We started with the Ass of Louis Tomlinson threads which started out admiring Louis and his assets but then pretty much ended up being an argument as to whether Harry is with Louis or Grimmy or someone unknown to us. For some reason those threads ceased to exist after Part 9, so we moved to the Harry/Nick Grimshaw thread(s). After awhile, they ONLY wanted to talk about Harry/Grimmy and complained whenever someone else from 1D was mentioned (especially Louis). And thus the General 1D thread was created so that the Harry/Grimmy shippers can continue their descent into madness without being interrupted by those of us trying to bring an element of objectivity to the discussion. Ok, so...moving on...

• Love the new album and it's ode to the 90's and early 00's pop. Highlight are I Would, Rock Me, C'Mon C'mon, Summer Love and They Don't About Us.

• Usually I'll listen to pop music on spotify just to keep up with musical trends, but I really can't get into the British boy-bander thing.

• Louis and Harry are definitely more than friends. The way Louis reacts when Harry comes a little bit too close says everything. He loves it, and his body loves it even more. Louis is not interested in women, I think. I just want to know whether Louis is in a real relationship with his girlfriend or not. He is so obsessed with the fact he has a girlfriend, it's not healthy anymore. He talks about her in every interview, the whole time. And she is always around the boys. Even when Louis is three days away from home, she will come and visit him in Sweden or Paris. We're talking about two teenagers being in a relationship, but they act as if they are married and having children.

• Hi everyone... First of all, LOL at R58, I agree! So I am just puzzled about this Nick/Harry situation. As I said over on the Gr1mshaw thread, I have always felt that N/H friendship was encouraged by Harry's "people" for several reasons. To me, H/N were a mix of friends, business, and friends-with-benefits. I agree that they have spent a lot of time together but I'm just not convinced that they are a romantic couple. Something doesn't sit right with all of this, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I also am not convinced that things really ever ended with Harry & Louis. Harry & Nick both have careers to worry about, people to answer to. Them going rogue with an open homosexual relationship doesn't seem likely. Yet their behavior leads people to believe that they are in one. The question is, how far is too far? Harry's fans are mostly teenagers but they aren't stupid. I imagine 1D's people, loosening their collars while sweating bullets, popping Ativan and Valium and chasing with shots of whiskey... counting down the minutes until they can shove Harry on a plane and whisk him off on tour haha... If H&N really are a romantic couple, one would think that they would have just spent time together quietly until Harry went off on tour. SOMEONE wants everyone to see them together and believe they are "together". But who? Harry? Nick? Both? Someone else altogether?

• What do you think about all this Lilo is the new Larry" thing going on? I mean Louis and Liam are obvious good friends, but you really think Louis values his friendship above the one he share(d) with Harry? Because these days Harry and Louis seems to be no more than coworkers (they never, never are seen together, never in the same place, different friends etc). This confuse me so much because they used to have a sweet frienship. What would have happened between them to made them break their friendship (must be something really big).

• I'm not a real participant in the fandom, I mostly just follow the threads here. So I had no idea about Lilo being the new Larry. I think it's a good pairing, not necessarily a sexual one IRL. I do think that some descriptions of Louis and Harry's present state are indicative of a breakup or something equally big (as you say, r69). But who can know this for sure? I think that a pitfall of the fandom is that because Louis seems gay, his friendships are colored with that in mind.

• I adore Liam and Louis together. They are so mischevious and make each other happy all the time. Plus they are into sports, so that may be another common thing. And I really think Liam has a little man-crush on Louis. About Harry and Louis, they distanced from each other in the last year. Harry loves the high-life of London, likes to hang-out with celebrities while Louis is more family oriented, private and non-pretentious. Plus I think Harry is having an affair with Grimmy; it is more and more likely these two are in some kind of relationship (even the papers are speculating about them).

• Niall is becoming my bias. Maybe it's because he is the only one that is single.

• Dey eat da poo-poo. One Direction is just another New Kids on the Cock or N*Sick. Minimal talent. Just a bunch of boys who look like 11 year old lesbians, who harmonize and dance a little to appeal to 9-12 year old girls and 10-16 year old gay boys. I keep up on modern music and like a lot of it, but these boys suck as bad as that little Bieber shit. There is not one boy in One Direction that would even classify as a cute "twink". They are too skinny and too average. To each their own, but they'll be forgotten (like Hanson) in five years.

• R64, yes Harry and Louis' earlier dynamic was really interesting and appealing. However, I really don't think we're likely to see anything like that on stage or in interviews ever again and I don't know how fans are going to react to that. MOC - I remember you saying that you thought Harry was encouraged to hang out with Nick. I kinda agree to the extent that I think he was encouraged by those who cared for him to create a social group outside of 1D, like the other lads had, for his own benefit. I don't think Harry and Nick's relationship was orchestrated or played up for publicity or is anything other than genuine. My feelings on Harry and Louis are that it was a very intense friendship and if we're going on generally accepted indications of a crush, I think it's fair to say Harry possibly had romantic feeling for Louis. Perhaps Louis was just having fun, thinking it was all a bromance, played up for the cameras and then realised it had spiralled out of his control, into the hands of the fans and was having negative consequences for those he loved. I think he pulled away from Harry fairly abruptly and focused his energies on Liam. I've always said I think he likes control over the people around him and I feel there's a definite element of that in his friendship with Liam. What I think is likely is that without living or socialising with Louis and his family and friends being up north, Harry didn't have any everyday friends in London and as many who know him have commented, he doesn't like to be alone. So creating another intense friendship, this time with Grimmy isn't so bizarre to me. They both seemed equally as enamoured of each other. That's one of the things that gives me pause with Harry/Nick. Harry had a super intense friendship with Louis and appears quite clingy. So when he spent all his time in the summer with Nick it was fairly similar to me, in how he was previously with Louis. And I think people either ignore that or aren't aware of how intense Harry can be when he likes someone. That's particularly true for those approaching the Harry/Nick situation from a Nick angle who can't quite understand why Harry would have spent all his evenings and sleeping over at Nicks, thinking the only explanation must be they were a couple. That's not to say they weren't/aren't a couple, just that hooking up isn't the only valid explanation for that intensity of interaction. I don't understand what's going on with Harry and Nick right now. They appear to be pushing the envelop, as do others when talking about them. I feel it's likely they're in a relationship, but even if they're not they've cemented the idea of how close they are and how much they enjoy spending time together into people's heads. That will go a long way to downplaying what seems to be Nick's plan of turning up occasionally on the 1D tour. That got long and rambly. Ah well, the norm for me.

• I think Harry and Louis were together, it's obviously over now as they seem to hardly speak to each other. Also Louis over reaction to the Larry rumours, all celebs get gay rumours but just laugh them off. Something about his relationship with his girlfriend doesn't seem right either. It looks as though Harry is distancing himself and will probably leave the band soon.

• Yes R75, I too think Harry has distanced himself. Publicly he's crafted a independent and more mature persona and I feel like he carries that over into his 1D appearances. I get the impression he does what's required of him but there's no messing around with the other lads, he stands quietly apart and often looks detached. I don't think he'll cut and run, but I can't see 1D going on past 2014 and I think he's itching to get out. He'll probably have a huge choice of offers in a variety of areas, not just musically.

• I used to think Louis and Harry had a big fight or something. They were never spotted together anymore and they were ignoring each other during interviews and tv shows. But then I realised that the timing was a bit fishy. It was after touring in the US, where the gay rumours became an issue. Louis said before it happened that the gay rumours 'affect the way me and Harry behave around each other'. After that, they started to act really weird. Also, the many articles about Eleanor and Louis hanging out this summer, in combination with the tweets of Louis. It seems like a big PR-thing to me. I think they want to make it seem like Harry and Louis aren't really close anymore, to kill the gay rumours. Watch this video for example. It's from a private gig in Paris from November 2012. It seems that they are still in the same (b)romance as they used to be. They are just trying to hide it now. For whatever reason.
