Why hasn't Romney paid a price in the media for being such a dick during the last presidential debate?
I don't want to be one of those people who blathers on about how biased the media is, but I don't understand why Romney hasn't been called out about how rude, aggressive and peevish he was during the last debate. During the first debate, Obama was called out for being half asleep (deserved), Biden for his laughing and interuptions, but I've only heard a few things about how rude, abrasive and condesending Romney was towards the president in the last debate. He certainly didn't look presidential - he looked like a guy about to lose his shit. Why havent' we read much about this in the mainstream media?
- I don't know. Especially with all the fake outrage over Biden. I wondered if the media wanted Romney to get elected.
He was rude in the first one, too. And I remember him being rude and obnoxious even in a Republican one with McCain. Acting very disrespectful. Apparently also he told Candy Crowley to "shut up" in the last one, as well. Why wasn't that talked about?
- That's the whole point of biased media. The hypocrisy they flaunt in people's faces where one person gets badmouthed while another one gets praised for the same actions.
Either you like it or not in today's news media industry viewers and readers are getting manipulated. Only strong minded people won't fall for the lies and manipulation tactics.
- Romney was an absolute idiot in both debates, even if Obama was "sleeping" during the first one. I cannot understand how this race can be so "tight" as reported via polls in the media.
- I don't get it, either, OP. I said after both the first and second debates that Romney was acting like a bully. So pushy, trying to relitigate the rules onstage and, for that matter, set his own rules -- rude, talking over the moderators and the president.
No one seems to care.
He's running for boss, not president. He's not a leader, he's a CEO who barks orders and gets testy when people don't jump fast enough.
I do not understand how this is supposed to appeal to anyone.
- Most of the media is owned by Republicans.
- Because he's white.
If Obama does anything other than stand there with a big grin on his face, the media and the public label him as an angry black man.
- I still don't get all the fuss over the first debate. No, it wasn't a good performance by Obama. But he didn't make any huge gaffes or tell any big lies. And he wasn't a bully or an asshole like Romney. Judging by the media narrative and the sudden shift in the polls after the first debate, though, you would think that Obama had given the worst debate performance in the history of mankind. I also don't understand why there hasn't been a similarly dramatic shift in the polls toward Obama since the second debate, where Obama more than made up for his lackluster performance in the first debate.
I'm still 100% confident that Obama will win. But if Obama does lose, it will all be blamed on the first debate. And when historians and scholars years from now look at that first debate, they will say, "WTF? It wasn't that bad."
- Tell you what. Mitt Romney is going to do something outrageous at the last debate. Don't be surprised if he invades President Obama's space and even pokes a finger in his face to reprimand him. Mitt has been emboldened and he is going to get ugly. Count on it.
I keep telling you. The reason there was no blowback from Romney's behavior is because no Dems got out here and raised 99 kinds of hell.
When Biden was finished with Lyin Ryan, the Conservatives raised hell. They went apeshit. Because he smiled "too much." The Dems still haven't learned how to fight these assholes.
It shouldn't be Obama's sole responsibility. There are a lot of high profile surrogates out here who do nothing. Some of the assholes even bought into the "Biden laughed too much" meme.
- The media has Romnesia.
- I'm not convinced it's "that close." I think it's close, like maybe a three to five point spread, but I believe Obama is winning.
GOTV is key.
- It *is* close, but Obama is winning.
- Romney may ask Obama to show his wedding ring, which is engraved that Allah as the only god.
