Bill Maher was really bad tonight

Two hateful wingnuts screaming out talking points and 1 lefty with a shrill voice. I think even Bill was disgusted with himself. My boyfriend Matt Taibbi was a brief respite of sanity.

That black lady was horrid. She would not let go or shut up.
She was just trying to get a word in with those vile right wingers. I love Goldie, she doesn't take any shit.
Who were the guests?
Well, the monologue and New Rules were really goo. And I really like Matt Tiabbi and was glad that Maher plugged his Rolling Stone article on Bain. Plus, I enjoyed the interview early in the show with the guy from Stoney Brook. So it wasn't that bad to me - although everyone seem to put Maher in a really foul mood. And let me say that just the sight of John Fund's name makes my skin crawl. (In fact, it's crawling as I type.) And who was that screechy knucklehead from MSNBC? Thank God I've never seen her before, and I hope to never see her again.

Bill Maher is a mysogynistic asshole who can't stand the thought of anyone thinking for himself. He's an embarassment to the left - I don't know why anyone claiming to be progressive would bother to watch his TV show.

It was an awful, terrible show, and John Fund or who ever he is, is unwatchable. That other guy who wouldn't stop talking, sheesh! He is with USA Today? He is beyond dumb. I'm glad Goldie was talking over them, being in their faces. Over all, except for Matt Taibbi and the Stoneyfield man (They make outstanding frozen yogurt!) the show was terrible, but at least Bill showed some outrage and excoriated them.
It was bad and the jokes were flat. They kept talking over Goldie.
Maher is always bad lol. Just like O'Reilly. All these screamers are idiots and so are viewers for being influenced either way by them.
More than one right winger on the show any given week and it's unwatchable. But I do like Taibbi.
John Fund was unwatchably smug. The guy in the middle, Boris whatever -- he was like some mob boss making pronouncements. The two of them sitting together with that little sparkplug of a woman on the end, it looked and sounded strange. She was screechy and unpleasant. I waited to see a coupla minutes of Taibbi, then I turned the channel. Really, Bill has to get better panels than this. Two more weeks until the election, and he throws these smug fat conservatives at us? No. This won't do.
Next weeks will be much, much better. Smart people will be on,all Dems, Elliot Spritzer among them.
Another guest next week will be Barney Frank.
I saw a recent episode with Ben Affleck on the panel and I thought he looked like a total dunce. I like Ben but I think he thinks of himself as an expert in politics and he came off looking really naive, especially next to Governor Schweitzer.

John Fund is a syphilitic sore. And the part where Maher played Obama's speech the day after the ambassador's murder where he uses the words terror attacks and Fund and that cretin next to him argue that was not what Obama was saying? Even Maher couldn't stand it. I continue to watch Maher's show for beacons of light like that Montana governor or Sheila Bair. But they are getting rarer and rarer. I haven't given up yet, but it may happen soon.

I used to think that Bill Maher was more knowledgable about political issues, but then I noticed him not being able to refute the repub guests arguments sometimes. Jon Stewart would have been all over that crap in seconds. BTW, have seen Maher stumble like this before. If you know your going to have seasoned politicians on the show spewing rhetoric that you can't respond to then at least have guests on that can do it instead of you. That loudmouth idiotic woman tonight DID not help Maher.

Why wouldn't matt or bill back up the msnbc chick on the son-of-Sam stuff? I read that Romney was most certainly involved. I would have guessed that Matt would have backed her up. How about big pizza? That was genius.

His shows have been hit or miss lately, with more misses. I like Bill; and especially "new rules" and usually his great guest (like Taibbi). Lately though it looks like he's sleep walking through his shows. Time for Bill to reinvent himself to stay relevant.

I just watched it on demand. It made me appreciate how much more civilized his show usually is. THere was way too much screeching and talking over people, and a bad idea to have two right wingnuts 2gether.
I wish Taibbi would tone down the over the top insults in his work. He has such great things to say, but anyone who may be convinced to give his message serious consideration would be turned off. His writing screams when it should seduce. Take his piece on Michelle Bachmann in Rolling Stone. The facts on her are so disgusting on their face, you don't need to make personal insults. Yes, her husband is clearly gay, but until a photo emerges of Ladybird sucking a cock, baiting him turns off the very people who might be persuaded that she has no business being in Congress.

For what it's worth, Goldie is much more subdued on MSNBC - but Real Time is a different kind of show. Goldie is a smart, tough liberal and I like her a lot.

R36, I agree about Matt Taibbi. While I usually find his colorful language amusing, it just gives people an excuse to discount his writing and obscure his larger points, which are spot on. I wish he had been on the panel instead of Goldie, who could not hold her own with those RW blowhards.
Also agree with R36 and R41 about Taibbi. He goes for the lazy ad hominem attack when his reporting alone is so damning.
The show was a nightmare. A perfect example of how tv where a group of people are screaming at each other and don't let anyone be heard is a huge waste of time.
Taibbi is a great journalist. He is also a provocateur who sometimes makes the most objectionable statements a la Ann Coulter.
On the contrary, R37, there's no indication from her demeanor that the MSNBC lady had any intelligence at all. She was only dead-set on contradicting the two fat fucks. Given the cross-talk and shouting, I couldn't hear much of what she was trying to say. That's not smart at all.
As soon as I see who's on the panel I either watch or turn it off. I can't deal with some of the Repugs he's had on lately. I seem to be deleting more eps than I watch.
