Google Stock Plummets After Quarterly Earnings Leak.
Google stock plunged 8 percent, according to Reuters, after the company's third quarter earnings apparently leaked ahead of schedule on Thursday.
Trading of the stock was temporarily halted shortly after the leak. At that time, the stock was down just over 9 percent.
Remember on google, when you used to be able to click on "cached" and then the page would have your search terms highlighted? Then google changed that making you have to skim through the whole page to find what you were searching for. Apparently by delaying people that way, google could charge more for their ads. That's the whole reason they did that to us, greed. So fuck google.
Also fuck Google for fucking up YouTube. It's never been the same. And fuck "Google accounts" whatever the fuck those are.
I stopped using Google as my default search engine months ago and I use none of their other products except for YouTube (but as an unregistered visitor).
Google's business ethics do not impress me, which is a nice way of saying they horrify me.
I chose Bing twice on that silly bing vs google blind thing.
Google's not going anywhere, ladies.
It's so hard to use Google to search old DL threads. For some reason when you enter "datalounge" and the topic you are interested in, the results do NOT show the name of the topic. Actually it does that with other searches too.
Didn't say they were, pinhead at R5.
I for one don't want to help them stay around though.
Pinhead at R7, read this thread's title:
Google's COLLAPSE is almost COMPLETE!
R8 = the biggest pinhead of all time!
Google isn't out yet. They do own Motorola Mobility and the hottest phone OS out there.
Profits down 20%...that's a big drop, no matter how big Google are.
Bing is awful. Google's search engine is vastly superior. I wish a better alternative would come along though.
Duckduckgo & other search engines are wayyy better.
I remember R1. I really miss that feature.
Why there's so much hate for google on the gay board?
r7/et al yellow = Bill O'Reilly.
Everybody knows where everything is at on the internet now so no one needs to search anymore.
Google has such a huge lead on Search and Marketing they could lose 75% of their business and still outrank everyone else.
Google isn't the only search engine, but it's the only one that counts. Google isn't the only marketing agency, but it's the only one that counts.
[quote]I stopped using Google as my default search engine months ago
LOL what a loser.
So what if you don't use them. Does Google know you use them? No, so they won't miss you.
It's like people saying they will stop watching NBC or CBS or CNN.
Are you a Nielsen Family? If not that it doesn't matter because you don't count anyway.
Google is a liberal company with a strong history of supporting equality among many other progressive issues....so yes, of course, lets hate them.
The paid Google brand management goons have infiltrated this thread a started earning their pay!
r21, they haven't done anything that any other successful company hasn't done. You're faulting a tiger for having stripes.
Considering all the inane questions people post on DL seeking information, one could have assumed all search engines went out of business years ago.
My favorite are WEHT posts about has-been actors, as if the OP had never heard of imdb.
Google can't go bankrupt unless the internet is shut down.
When banks say they are too big to fail, it is just the CEOs egos speaking. Google is genuinely too big to fail and too important to the survival of the internet, to be allowed to fail.
Does Google take questionable liberties with privacy.....download Google Chrome and feel the full body cavity search for yourself, but as a search engine only, Google is a necessary part of a working internet.
[quote]Also fuck Google for fucking up YouTube. It's never been the same.
How have they fucked it up, by placing ads? How do you think that mega-site pays for itself?
Since the ads, many of which you only have to watch for 5 seconds, there have been fewer enforced copyright deletions.
If YouTube went down it would be a catastrophe.
I haven't watched an ad on YouTube...ever. I have adblock on my computer. They fucked up the entire layout, the comment system (people leave WAY less comments now as a result), the way you have to link a "Google account" now (whatever the fuck that means), and a bunch of other shit that I've had to deal with for so long now that I can't even remember.

For fuck's sake, use FIND (Ctrl F on PCs) within the cached page if you're so royally inconvenienced by having to skim a whole page. Do you think somehow that a company should emerge from nothing, make no profit, and spend billions doing what suits your interests - for which you pay nothing? Maybe you'd like them to send over a n endless supply of man whores to suck your dick whenever it suits you?

I love Google.
I don't get the hate here for it.
It's the best search engine.
Youtube is a disaster since Google bought it. It messed up so many good things we used to have before when Youtube was just Youtube.
One of the stupid things is that you need a single email address with each channel. Originally you could have one single email address attached to multiple channels. But they forced users to change, which was annoying but the thing is it didn't make any difference because when one of my channels got a strike, the other channels which were once connected to that single email address, also got the same strike. They all have the separate email addresses and accounts and yet they all get the same strike because they were once connected together. Google never fixed this and there's no way of going about it.
And this doesn't even go over the stupid strikes they make for stuff like public domain films. I got a strike for uploading House on Haunted Hill, which is a public domain film, and all my channels got the same strike. I had to remove the video and do a counter claim, all of this for a PD film.
And this brings up another annoying point of Youtube under Google: the content id system. It's totally whack. I actually got a copyright infringement claim from a channel that didn't exist anymore, a channel which was closed by Youtube for having too many copyright infringements.
Since Google bought Youtube, Youtube as been a mess and a pain in the butt.
R33 is there a way to check and see how many strikes your YT channel has against it? I have two YT channels and I know they removed one of my videos on one of my channels...I'd like to check and see if it affected my second channel as well.
I can't believe nobody is calling Google a corporate whore.
R34, you can check under Settings. When you get a strike you're usually redirected to a pink page with a big ass disclaimer saying you've violated the rules. If you haven't done this than most likely you don't have a strike.
They have some nice theme(s) for the day doodle(s) for their logo.
But their privaciy issue kept me from joining or using any of their social network media stuff and browser.
Who the fuck reads comments on youtube? THat's like searching for change on a floor covered with a nacreous layer of permacum.
Google lost their usability when they dropped their "search within a search" function. Don't know why they eliminated this, but it was so helpful in doing research. Now, any search engine will do. Problem with Google is they got too big and, in favor of profits, lost their core function.
[quote]Who the fuck reads comments on youtube?
I often read them, for my sins.
The latest thing seems to be corny messages under songs, stuff like:-
This was my mom's favorite song. We buried her this morning and played it at her funeral. I've lost my beloved mom, but I'll always have this song.
Along with 57 thumbs up

It's still there.
They only took away the button. The function still works just as before, the user just expands upon their initial search box enquiry, expanding "Red Dragon cheese" as "Red Dragon cheese" "Cheryl" "site:datalounge.com"
I have a zillion Youtube accounts for various purposes, and the My Accounts thing was a huge pain in the ass to sort out. Thank goodness all my email accounts linked to YT have fake names. They now are trying to get users to display their real names on their channels, which they retrieve from your My Account. It is all so invasive.
Also fucking HATE the stupid Youtube playlist that pops out of nowhere sometimes. It has no close button so you have to browse to another page to get it to fucking close.
But Google Bookmarks and the multiple sign in features are enough to keep me satisfied with them, for now. I also store a ton a porn on Youtube for easy viewing.
Has anyone tried Start Page?
[quote] Does Google know you use them?
That they actually do. With name, user data, maybe even your address, phone number and bank account. They may not care at this point. But if they lose a lot of users they may go through your old browsing history and other info to figure out why you're not using them. And the existing data has been sold to clever marketers already anyway.
So Google is now engaging in censorship as of December 13. Searches on Google Images no longer give the "Safe Search Off" option; the moderate safe search is the default, and the strict safe search is the only other option available. This is the beginning of the end of the "free and anonymous Internet", folks!
If you don't believe me, try searching for "blowjob" on Google Images and see what you find.
R46, you are right about the search for "blowjob". However, I did a search for "gay sex" under the Google Image search, and a lot of NSFW photos came up so their censorship is not working on everything.
Google may get some things wrong, but Gmail has always been my favorite email, I think their search is the best, and I just started uploading my photos to Google + for storage (you can upload an unlimited amount of photos if choose "standard size") so I still like them.
R45 reminding us that there will always be people who believe in freedom.
One day, they just dropped servicing their news archive and took away the timeline. Most of the books have only snippet previews.
They start by giving a lot, them start taking away.
R46 I searched blow job under SafeSearch Off and there are tons of nsfw photos
Google has obviously abandoned it's "Don't Be Evil" pledge/mantra.
I'm so put off by the company I've switched to using Outlook.com instead of gmail.com (the UI is better anyway).
R51, "safesearch off" is no longer an option in the US as of December 13th; however, it's still available in other countries...for now.
You're right, R46. I just tried to do a search for Pavel Novotny, and not a single XXX pic popped up. While it's not impossible to find the pron, Google has made it a lot more difficult.
Is Google the fucking Net Nanny now??
Either use www.google.co.uk (for now at least) or be very specific. If you search for:
Mat Cole, naked, porn, DVD
You will get more results.
The problem is, R55, that just a few weeks ago, you could simply type "Mat Cole" and get the results you were looking for.
Why isn't the "Safe Search Off" feature no longer available? This is blatant censorship on Google's part, and if we acquiesce like sheep, then big companies and government entities will continue to chip away at our rights.
Google also used to announce planned changes. Now, it simply makes them covertly, and most people are none the wiser. (Have you seen YouTube lately?!) Pretty slimy business practice.
Google has now made the "SafeSearch" option a mandatory default for the UK (after the US and Australia). It's no longer possible to select "SafeSearch Off" during a Google Web or Google Image search via google.co.uk.
Google is implementing this censorship in an apparent attempt to persuade China to unblock their sites, and to appease all of the anti-porn fraus.
Wow, you are right! So-called obscene images no longer available (i.e. no porn) on google uk. The only option is SafeSearch.
