• Take it from Honey Boo Boo. The mother's a trip.

• That family must be Dem/liberal, Alana is only 7 but is already staunchly pro-gay, saying "everybody's a little bit gay" about her gay uncle. I know kids are naturally accepting of differences unless the parents instill bigotry in them, but I also think for her even to be aware of the issue at all at that age, suggests Alana has observed and adopted her parents' accepting position on it.

• It almost makes me sad to think how quickly Honey Boo Boo is going to become a has-been.

• Honestly, it's a little bit oddly touching. So what you will about Honey Boo Boo or Alana or that family, but the fact is they raised that little girl to accept her gay uncle in a matter of fact, no big deal fashion. He's gay, so what? She loves him and she doesn't care. Whatever we think of their technique, that is a fundamental shift in the sociocultural dynamics of the country, middle America and its future.

• HBB has a gay uncle so that's why she is accepting. As a reminder for all the non-Southern people who sneer at Southern white trash/rednecks I've said before that your preconceived notions are wrong. Some are bigoted assholes but just as many are much more accepting than you would think. One of my best friends was raised in just such a family and he's gay. His family, once they got over the shock of him being gay, had his back. Family and blood is everything to them no matter what.
