To Penske Media Corp., owner of deadline.com, among others.
I'm thrilled that the 107-year-old bible of show business has a new lease on life.
Variety has had over the years a lot of chutzpah and a lot of credibility, and I don't think it was well-served under its Reed ownership. This is a much better fit.
I hope they finally drop that paywall and let us back inside.
Wow. How much will the new company charge for "for your consideration ads"
They're taking down the pay wall, although it was still up last night.
What's to sell? There's practically nothing left of Variety.
Reed got $25. million for it, nonetheless.
They've got a good staff of knowledgable writers, the Variety name and reputation, and an irreplacable archive of articles and reviews from the past 107 years, covering show biz from vaudeville to video and everything in between.
I love you r1.
When the hell are they dropping the paywall? I want to read their reviews of upcoming movies.
