Gas prices are out of control here in Cali. I saw it over $5/gal yesterday!
She should pass an emergency law that people that make less than $12/hr get a $2/gal discount (with people making less than $20/hr getting at least a $1 discount) and let the rich fuckers pay for the rest of it! It's these greedy store owners are raping us!
SHe's aghast that many stations are charging over $5/gallon and wants immediate steps taken so that 10% off the top goes to Israel
I've gotta say, it's refreshing that someone in politics actually is concerned about the working people. What other politicians have said anything about this? No one. That's because they're too busy counting the bills in their wallets.
Who is Dianne Frocks?
Is she Gaga's new muse?
She should pass an emergency law....
OP, did you graduate from an American high school where you took a civics class?
R5, I never feel fully dressed unless I'm wearing one of my Dianne Frocks.
Vera Wang is SO over.
R6, I have a PhD?
I've always felt that prices for consumer goods should scale to a person's wages.
It is completely obscene that a cart of groceries costs $200, no matter if the person buying it is a billionaire or a widowed old lady who has to use 3/4 of her pension check to pay for live-saving medications.
OK, R8 -- then what makes you think that one Senator from Calif can "pass an emergency law" about Calif gas prices (or anything else)?
Gas is going to get more and more expensive as there is less and less oil available. And is it really a good idea to subsidize people destroying the environment? This is a stupid handout.
r9, what kind of America are you envisioning? That's a bit extreme, don't you think? It's also not practical.
So every time you go to the supermarket, you have to show proof of income? Absurd.
What we need to do is provide a safety net for the poor and at the same time, encourage ambition and encourage people to get the education and skills required. We don't need this class warfare that you're proposing.
R8 is a Phoenix apparently.
Fuck does no one understand how government works anymore.
In 1999, gas averaged 1.17/gal
Too bad our media and school system have "dumbed down" the majority so much that they can't see the fact that Wall Street and the Federal Reserve have (more than) quadrupled the amount of dollars since 1999 might have some impact.
Unfortunately, the money in circulation is less than 10% of what has been printed to bail out the banks. They've printed over 16 TRILLION to bail out foreign and domestic banks, but are using their monopoly to force the government to pay interest on it (as "reserves") in order to keep it from flooding the market.
If interest rates rise (even slightly, say to 1%) the debt will crush them, or they will be forced to allow that money to circulate which will cause prices to rise dramatically.
You think $4/gal gas is rough? Try $10/gal milk, or $20/lb beef.
But Robamney will save us!
Dammit I know what I'm talking about!
The government can do whatever it wants to! All she has to do is write a bill and then make them do what she says!
For all those overseas bitching that their gas costs so much more:
Just because you pass out the ass for it, does that make it right?
Intrusive Israel is behind many of our financial problems.
Dianne should be stoned with rocks.
R12 thank you for sanity.
"Raped" by "greedy store owners"?
[bold]Following the money: who's profiting from your pain at the pump?[/bold] [3/2012]
For the month of February 2012 (averaging $3.58 per gallon), we estimate that:
For every three dollars you spent on gasoline, oil companies are getting more than a dollar of profit.
That means on average, 34% of what you paid or $1.22/gallon, goes to pad the bottom line of oil companies.
The vast majority of this amount ($1.12/gallon) went to those who produce the crude oil, the main ingredient to make gasoline. That’s the ExxonMobils and Shells of the world.
About $0.05/gallon is profit for refineries turning that crude oil into gasoline. That’s the ExxonMobil and Shell’s of the world as well.
And that gas station of yours? Well the retailers (including distributors and marketers) on average made about $0.04/gallon in profit. Some of these are the oil companies of the world, but many of these are independently-owned and operated stations who make more money selling candy and hot dogs than gasoline.
Those oil tankers and pipelines? They make about $0.01/gallon in profit. Many of these are owned by the oil companies as well.
Wow, you people are too stupid to even recognize parody.
Raise the minimum wage to $25/hr (or make people pay for gas based on earnings) and the numerous "unintended consequences" will make things far worse. R12 comes close, but even he still can't see how these laws make problems worse for consumers.
Feinstein is a moron, and couldn't understand economic theory if she tried. She's just another self serving politician.
I'm the OP. I was hoping someone sane would reply that I was being unreasonable since I was parodying socialists.
Too bad you're too stupid to see that.
Sorry OP et al.
Most of us here do believe that socialism is a better system than capitalism.
I've noticed. Logic seems to be incompatible with socialism.
Really, R27/FReeper shitstain?
I think Albert Einstein and other noted socialists might disagree with you on that.
Why don't you hop on back to Free Republic where I'm sure you're a mental giant.
Appeal to authority. One of the worst logical fallacies. R28 is too stupid to live.
The Federal Aviation Administration is working towards putting the finishing touches on rules and regulations for widespread domestic drone use, and the agency expects as many as 30,000 UAVs will be in America’s airspace by the decade’s end. As Russia Today notes, given that the department has already addressed the issue of acquiring drones to give the DHS a better eye of domestic doings, though, those law enforcement operations in question could very well transcend away from legitimate uses and quickly cause civil liberty concerns from coast-to-coast. All drones will be equipped with Electro-Optical/Infra-Red sensors, as well as the technology to sniff out certain chemicals from thousands of feet above our heads. Have no fear though, since the "Robotic Aircraft for Public Safety" program is for your own protection, we are sure Janet Napolitano would suggest.
OP = talks to self
Flanked by gun grabbing lawmakers, including New York Sen. Chuck Schumer and Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, Diane Feinstein announced the introduction of the “Assault Weapons Ban of 2013 Bill.” It would make gun grabbers such as Mao, Stalin and Hitler proud.
The legislation being pushed by Feinstein would prohibit the sale, transfer, importation and manufacture of certain firearms, including many rifles, pistols and shotguns.
DiFi-as she was known before--had a political career dead in the water thanks to the corrupt business practices of her husband. Then Dan White assassinated Harvey Milk and DiFi got her big break.
I'm no fan of hers since she's basically Republican Lite, but better her than some Teabag Nutbag.
So, you admit she is an evil cunt, and then defend her!
Then Dan White assassinated Harvey Milk and DiFi got her big break.
It was more than that -- DiFi told Dan that Harvey and George were not going to let him back onto the Board of Supervisors (he had resigned to spend more time with his baked potato stand on the wharf but then changed his mind), which made him go home and get his gun. Oh yeah, and eat some Twinkies.
DiFi the big mouthed yenta not only ratted out George and Harvey and got them killed, but she rose from the carnage -- Harvey's blood on the hem of her dress -- not unlike a Phoenix, except it was the two men's blood and not her own ashes from which she was reborn.
OP is the crazy FREEPER TROLL, starting thread after thread attacking Obama and liberals.
DO NOT FEED THE FREEPER TROLL
California was a beautiful, livable state before DiFi and her Chamber of Commerce friends flooded the state with immigrants, mostly illegal and cheap.
I attack Repthuglican neocons too.
Anyone who supports giving the government more power needs to be stopped.
guess how she made her money? OIL
she doesn't rock she's a theif
Anyone who supports giving the government more power needs to be stopped.
The government is "we the people".
You're apparently in favor of corporate plutocracy then?
You're an ideological idiot.
At least she knows how to spell "thief."
The government is "we the people".
No, the government is a collection of thieves and murderers with the power to kill and steal. Brainwashed fools like you are why people like Obama and Bush get elected.
You sound like an anarchist, r42. No government is perfect, but our government, with all its flaws, is one of the most stable in the world.
No, the government is a collection of thieves and murderers with the power to kill and steal.
That might be true of Republicans as a whole, and a few specific Democrats, but it's not true in general.
You're an over-generalizing, ignorant, brainwashed idiot.
I am TOTALLY blaming this on Al Gore.
Civics. Haven't heard that word in decades.
Blood Money DiFi
(and the US Chamber of Commerce.)
OP, you are, more of less, talking to yourself. Take your meds.
Trolldar indicates that the OP is sole proprietor of this thread.
Accusing people who don't agree with you of being stupid makes you sound stupid. Your poor grammar and clumsy rhetorical skills make us wonder where you got your advanced degree.
We don't need trolldar to know that R49 is a hall monitor, the most hated troll on DL.
