That Jane Leeves had a serious eating disorder. If she turns sideways she becomes practically invisible. She looks like a lollipop with a flat ass, sunken tits and huge feet.
While watching Frasier reruns I've come to the conclusion....

"If she turns sideways she becomes practically invisible."
They would say the same thing about Maris.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 9, 2012 12:04 AM |
She's skeletal on Hot in Cleveland.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 9, 2012 1:04 AM |
She's anorexic
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 9, 2012 1:13 AM |
She's a dancer, so it would make sense.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 9, 2012 2:05 AM |
Roz on the other hand had nice curves.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 9, 2012 2:11 AM |
Pairing Daphne and Niles was an absolutely idiotic decision. Those two supposedly had hot sex, but had no sexual chemistry at all.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 9, 2012 2:13 AM |
She's an actress....nowadays a proper actress must always be on the cusp of complete organ failure.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 9, 2012 2:16 AM |
I agree, R6. I never got her appeal, either.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 9, 2012 2:16 AM |
[quote]She's a dancer
I wondered about that because she walks with her feet turned out.
Roz was stacked R5.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 9, 2012 2:17 AM |
Well, I bought Niles's fascination with Daphne: she was a funny, sweet woman who was the complete opposite of Maris. Daphne falling for Niles was always a little more iffy to me.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 9, 2012 2:18 AM |
Were Daphne's papers in order? Maybe she needed Niles to stay in the country.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 9, 2012 2:27 AM |
R9 - Yes that's the word.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 9, 2012 2:32 AM |
I could totally see why Niles would be attracted to Daphne. Having spent years being pussywhipped by a cold, domineering, rich wife, he was drawn to someone pretty, warm, and working class. What I couldn't buy is Daphne being attracted to him, her attraction never even having been hinted at until the writers decided to get them together.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 9, 2012 2:36 AM |
What you assume is anorexia actually is a problem with colitis brought on by years of heroin addiction.
Or maybe she just likes being thin and she's now too old for the look.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 9, 2012 2:38 AM |
I'd say she's had quite a nosejob too - which I'm surprised by.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 9, 2012 2:53 AM |
She is like 6 foot tall so it's easy for her to stay thin. She can probably eat a horse daily and stay trim.
I liked them as a couple - she was like a life raft to his drowning man. What a funny show it was.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 9, 2012 3:56 AM |
It's the rare actress who isn't that thin, OP.
And the show jumped the shark when those two got together. Yes, R13 is correct about why Niles wanted her, but there's no reason for her to return his feelings. IMHO it should have ended with Daphne leaving for someone adorable, and with the three Cranes ending up together, realizing that all their earlier differences are resolved and they love each other as a family.
"Three old bachelors together", how about that.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 9, 2012 7:24 AM |
BeBe Neuwirth is a dancer too but looks healthy yet slim. She also has gorgeous legs and doesn't walk with her feet out.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 9, 2012 9:35 AM |
One of the reasons I never watched "Hot In Cleveland" is Leeves was my least favorite Frasier cast-member.

[quote]Were Daphne's papers in order? Maybe she needed Niles to stay in the country.
There actually was an episode that addressed this, when they all went on a road trip in an RV. Daphne freaked out on realizing that they had crossed into Canada, because she didn't have her green card yet.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 9, 2012 9:57 AM |
^Daphne had to pretend to be American for the US border guard when they crossed back into Washington. The way she kept saying "sure" ("shurr") was a bit of a catchphrase among my friends back then.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 9, 2012 10:05 AM |
It was indeed a funny show R16. A few stand out as favorites. The Dr. Mary episode has Frasier impersonate the angry black woman waving her finger, the one where Frasier goes into Bad Billy's wearing a pair of too tiny white shorts and gets accused of being gay leading to Patrick Stewart's character attempting to "tempt" him over to the gay side. All in all the show had great writers.
David Angell one of the producers died on 9/11 along with his wife.

January Jones? No way, Kidman definitely is closer to Kelly than Jones.

by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 9, 2012 10:24 AM |
I agree. I recently watched a number of episodes of "Throb," a sitcom she starred in during the mid-'80s. There, she looked like a normal, healthy person. As 'Hot in Cleveland' progresses, she seems to be getting thinner and thinner. It also shows in her persona; she seems to lack any real energy anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 3, 2014 1:41 AM |
I thought DHP was magnificent in his portrayal of a man obsessed with a woman BEFORE the two actually paired up on the show. Afterwards it all went straight to shit.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 3, 2014 1:53 AM |
an actress with an eating disorder? what a shock, next they'll have black people in the NBA
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 3, 2014 1:56 AM |
She looked good when she was on Murphy Brown. Of course she was very young then.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 3, 2014 2:06 AM |
She has a nice singing voice.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 3, 2014 2:08 AM |
I remember her on "Throb", IIRC it was about a radio station or a record company. She had massive hair.
Wasn't she dating that short guy from "Murphy Brown"? I forgot his name.

LOVED BAD BILLY'S. Also the one where Frasier had a Greek aunt who ran a restaurant; the one where Frasier and Niles tried to run their own restaurant; the one where they went to the ski lodge and Guy (pronounced Gee) lusted after Niles;the one where Frasier and Niles thought they were Russian royalty because of a clock their dad owned. Great writing. One of the writers wrote a couple of comedic novels about a gay Hollywood P.I. I forget his name, but you could probably research it on google. Very funny.
also liked the one where they showed a glimpse of cutie Bulldog's butt

The first six season were perfect. I agree, putting Niles and Daphne together took important element off the show. I watch the reruns. Writing was excellent, so was the cast.

such a groovy lady, she needs to put on some healthy weight in case she needs an operation.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 17, 2014 2:26 AM |
R13,
There were scenes as far back as S3/S4 that showed Daphne attracted to Niles, but refusing to see him as more than a friend.
The couple, and the timing, actually made perfect sense.

R32,
I think the use of the dog showed just how talented they were. What they did with Eddy (sp?) was not easy to pull off.
Everything about the show was first-class, a nice continuation of Cheers, without being a carbon copy.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 3, 2014 1:16 AM |
I seem to remember her having more curves in the early seasons? But by the latter seasons, she was disturbingly thin.

Yes, to me Leeves has seemed anorexic since her days on Fraiser. She looks worse on Hot In Cleveland, and her long limp hair, ugly clothing they dress her in on HIC, and her sagging face make her appear like a woman in her fifties (which she is) who is desperately trying to hang onto youth! Her character is trampy too and that doesn't help. The woman needs to learn what a good square meal is all about. She looks skeletal in my opinion. And the camera actually ADDS 10 pounds to an actresses frame. Keeves must weight next to nothing. Not healthy looking at all.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 5, 2014 5:16 AM |
Leeves reminds me of Deb Messing and Kristen Johnston, who both lost insane amount of weight while on shows that made them famous.
I find it interesting that Leeves ballooned when she was pregnant. I mean, she was huge. Her body must have said, fuck you, I'm going to get proper nutrition while there is another person growing inside.

Here's a video of a much healthier looking Jane in the 1980s before TV fame. She is one of "The New Girls of Aerobicise" in this aerobics/dancing video which is very soft porn-ish with the music and sultry looks to camera.
They are clothed but NSFW!

Very 80s R41
by Anonymous | reply 42 | October 1, 2014 2:56 AM |
R40 I know that's the usual trajectory but actually Deb Messing's was just the opposite: once she got pregnant, she got huge, and it's as if after that she said: "fuck it, I have a shit load of money and an Emmy, I'm not gonna put myself thru that bullshit anymore."
And she's looked like shit ever since...
by Anonymous | reply 43 | October 1, 2014 3:26 AM |
Funniest episode is when Frasier's new male boss thinks he is gay and makes a move. When told no, sadly he isn't the guy goes "but Niles surely". *LOL*
Think the series should come back and let Niles, Bulldog, and the father play the happy out gay men they are in real life. We can throw in "Gil" and of course Roz.

Im watching this series for the first time (its on Netflix). I'm currently towards the end of season 2. Its very funny and I was too young to understand the humor and tone when it actually aired on NBC. Question: should I stick with this show to the end or does it turn to season 6 Will and Grace- type of fuckery?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | October 1, 2014 4:24 AM |
Watch the whole series. There are hits and misses right up to the end, so It's not as if there's an entire season where it's all bad, only eps here and there that aren't great.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | October 1, 2014 4:28 AM |
[R47] thanks, cause ironically this episode Im watching is one of the misses.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | October 1, 2014 4:30 AM |
Hit and miss
by Anonymous | reply 49 | October 1, 2014 4:35 AM |
The hits are great enough to make up for the misses.

I'm watching some on Netflix right now and I'm on one with the fabulous Jean Smart. She gets Frasier to tutor her son, Kirby, and Kirby's hair looks just like Sideshow Bobs's on the Simpsons. Was this a subtle homage to that?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | March 5, 2015 7:05 AM |
R51 I also noticed Kirby's Sideshow Bob resemblance and Jean Smart was a great match for Kelsey/Frasier, I really liked to watch his dating life and that's rare for me - I kind of have an aversion to being in the company of most couplings on or off the screen lol And I gotta add I loved it when Frasier asked Dr. Mary for some sugar.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | March 5, 2015 9:25 AM |
I just stumbled across this on YouTube. Kelsey Grammer doing some stand up comedy from I'm guessing his Cheers days. Absolutely painful. I wonder who told him this material was good enough.

Wendie Malick looked anorexic too.

DL fave Patti Lupone played Frasier's Greek aunt. She was fabulous.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | August 20, 2019 11:24 PM |
Was that supposed to be a spinoff for Lupone? I thought it was terrible.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | August 20, 2019 11:32 PM |
I, too, am working my way through a Frasier rewatch on Netflix. I was a big fan of the first eight or seasons then kind of let it go. It holds up so well, largely because it was so well-written and performed. Any episode with Bebe Glaser is gold (thankfully, the show used her sparingly). I just watched Ham Radio, which, if not my favorite episode, is certainly in the top five.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | August 20, 2019 11:35 PM |
In the end Niles should have ended up with Mel,. they perfectly complimented the other. But before Mel who could blame any stud like Niles from lusting for Daphne.
