I read a few months ago that Autism has been tied to older fathers by one study. Scientists are now looking at male health (drinking, smoking, obesity, ect.) as a link toward other problems in children.
Forever women's health has been held accountable for the health of the children, now it's being turned on its head and fingers are pointing at fathers as well.
Will men begin to freeze their sperm in their 20's or early 30's? Will men begin to have a time-clock ticking on fertility?
It's fascinating to think how this could change everything. I know the science is young and spotty - but it does make sense.
There's nothing wrong with MY sperm!
Every straight man who ever existed
R1 - precisely. Men have been brought up to think they can father until their 70's or 80's, but reality is that their health is a major factor in having healthy births.
Can you imagine if women start selecting fathers based on age and fitness and not on other factors? (let's face it - financial stability and the ability to support the kids is one of them)
This does not bode well for Tom Ford and Richard Buckley's child.
New Rule: If your penis can't function without medication, your sperm is going to produce babies with fish heads.
This is quite troubling.
If hour after hour you Cum and cum, then that is well enough.
There have been a few recent studies that have suggested that the father's age, not just the mother's age, MIGHT be linked to various medical conditions.
Yes R1! A friend of mine has been having fertility treatments. I'm not sure what it involves other than hormone injections. I asked if it was her husbands sperm and THEY DON'T KNOW AS HE REFUSES TO GET TESTED. Wtf? I was telling another friend and he knows two other guys w exactly the same story. Fertility problems yet won't jack off into a cup, meanwhile the wives are damn near getting their eggs tested via needles. What kind of doctor lets that happen?
no, because men dont give two shits about having kids for the most part. it will just be hell on them because all their wives will now have one more thing to ride their asses about and whine and bitch and withhold sex over.
I thought older fathers tended to produce children with higher IQ's, is that theory no longer in fashion?
[quote' I thought older fathers tended to produce children with higher IQ's, is that theory no longer in fashion?
That might have just been a story made up by older fathers and the partners of older fathers to justify having a child at 55, 65, 75, 85...
STFU IT IS THE VACCINES!!!!!
They said pot makes your sperm squigly.
"I thought older fathers tended to produce children with higher IQ's, is that theory no longer in fashion?"
LOWER IQs, LOWER.
"Older fathers made headlines several years ago when researchers at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine reported that a man over 40 is almost six times as likely as a man under 30 to father an autistic child. Since then, research has shown that a man's chances of fathering offspring with schizophrenia double when he hits 40 and triple at age 50. The incidence of bipolarity, epilepsy, prostate cancer and breast cancer also increases in children born to men approaching 40.
Both dwarfism and Marfan syndrome (a disorder of the connective tissue) have been linked to older fathers, and according to research published in 1996 in the journal Nature Genetics, Apert syndrome (a disorder characterized by malformations of the skull, face, hands and feet) is a mutation caused exclusively by advanced paternal age.
A 2009 study at the University of Queensland, Australia, found a correlation between advanced paternal age and poorer performance by children on intelligence tests (the children of older mothers actually performed better). And when researchers at King's College, London, bred mice from fathers of differing ages, the offspring of older fathers exhibited significant deficits in social and exploratory behavior."
Men have a shelf life; this probably only comes as a surprise to men.
