Notable DL posters who you miss
Which Dl posters who no longer posts on DL, do you miss?
- No specific name posters, just anonymous ones with subtle, offbeat, running jokes. Weird and troubled posters. Imaginative, sincere, and sensitive posters.
- MAMA
- or Momma
- None, really. And I've been here 11 years.

- skinwoman
pornchick
ShinjukuBaby
- Miss SissyBoodles
Maru
- CARZY MINT!
I still get a hard on. I curse the bitch who scared him off
- Second vote for ShinjukuBaby. Even in his later, somewhat bitchier reincarnation.
- CRAZY MINT
- I loved Josh, no one else did but I did.
- I agree. crazymint was awesome!
- White Belt Man
Blue Agave
David Ehrenstein
Bonnie Mace
- I loved drinks with Josh including his two imaginary children.
Ma Joad
- R12, explain the first two on your list, I hear a lot about them at DL.
- Negrodamus .He was here for like a minute a few years ago, but his posts were funny.
- Someone needs to create a new persona named 'Large Marge'.
- R4 is 100 percent correct.
- I wouldnt say I loved her, but I miss misshelenbedd. She wasn't crazy; she was INSANE, and I think she may have just run her course, but in her prime nobody was crazier.
- Charlie.
I once asked him about Vincent Foucade. Who else at DL would even know who that was, let alone be able to come back with details?
Great stories. IMHO his dish on the Duke of Windsor is still the best gossip DL has ever produced. EVER.
Unlike that tedious Old Hollywood cow Bobsie Boo or whatever her name was who a stream of old queens & fraus on DL lickspittled to on multiple threads, yet she could never cough up a single decent anecdote.
- r19 = charlie
- Blue Agave was a well-loved poster of original blind items from the early days of the board. His threads were sporadic but always highly anticipated. He apparently died several years ago.
White Belt Man was a prolific poster known for his irritatingly cheery persona and endless, banal lists of random pop culture effluvia ("What was your favorite toy as a kid?" "Who was your favorite Bugaloo?" "What brand of toilet paper did your mom buy?") His red-tagging for making an anonymous racist post kicked off the final battle of the auth/anon war, which was so epic we couldn't even discuss it for years afterwards for fear of being banned. Many say he still posts here anonymously, or under another handle.
- There was a dominatrix who posted here for a while and she pops in very occasionally. Magdelene? She always had great posts.
- Pope Buck I
Price Leatherbarrow
Shobe
Della
- Thanks, R21!
- Magdalene is the only one I can think of whom I liked - and not because of her dish, but because she seems like a fierce-feminist-truly-thinks-for-herself kinda gal.
- Yes R22, Magdalene has good posts. She even knew a little bit about Kurt Cobain from behind the scenes.
- I met her once, back when we would have NYC DL get-togethers, she was a straight-shooter.
- David Ehrenstein???
Please explain.
Shobe
- R12, I miss all the posters you listed as well. The DL was a kinder place to visit in days gone by. There was one poster here supposedly from "down south" who employed a maid with the name of Cleopha. Do you remember this queen?
Miss%20Suki
- Susielee
Joan's Grandkid
They both spoke the truth about Hollywood.
- JPG
- What was the whole "my best fried Julie" stuff? I never get that.
- I wonder if any of them just started posting under a different moniker.
Hmmm.
PPSM
- R33, no one is ever going to miss you, ever.
EVER
- I missed having people to talk to when I was authenticated. It felt like I had friends, so I did, I had friends.
- I enjoyed Josh's posts and was very disappointed with the nastiness. You can be bitchy without being nasty.
polka%20spot
- I wonder sometimes about Judy Pills and if she still lives. Meanwhile, whether or not I know exactly who he is (and I've explored that), I live at least part of the year in close proximity to Charlie on Nantucket, the island of down low married or unmarried trust fund sons.
- Pills is around and still posts.
- No need, R34, because I'm not leaving.
Ever.
PPSM
- R11 from another thread
- r39=Effie
- Oh, I loved Price Leatherbarrow. Such a sweetie.
JPG for the insane meltdowns; Magdalene; Kipper; Arroz Con Pollo; and that straight woman who owned the pet store (why can't I remember her name?).
Those are the ones I occasionally wonder about - if they're doing all right, etc.
- Agree with r1 and r2. Also Rosie O'Donnell. It was a wild few months, and I'll probably get flamed for this, but Davidia-[...] was interesting - even her stalker was funny and obviously a long-time DLer. I fear for her safety.
r19 is charlie gone? If he is, I miss him. Great posts. What was his dish on Duke of Windsor?
We haven't had a Swiss Chick post in awhile.
PPSM = White Belt Man?
- I liked 30, Fat, and Friendless. He was insufferable, yet semi-interesting.
- Torta, Firenzi, Dr. Yes, Butterbean, Enid Nelson, JonEric, Mermaid, Pumpkin, AJtheOriginal, Pee Wee Poundstone, Lah, Tina__? who had the pet store; Tequila Mockingbird, Catherine of Siena, Miz Slocumbe, to name a few.
And the names previous posters have mentioned.
All these people have contributed something good to this site.
I know I'm forgetting some,too.
Yes, I know I spelled their names wrong
- tinabina had the pet store. I think she still posts anonymously.
I forgot about Price. Yeah, he's a sweetie. Enid, too.
- Tequila Mockingbird
Josh
Mrs. BettyBowers (the real one)
- The absence of Tequila Mockingbird's humor is sorely felt on the board today. I'm not sure if everyone realized how many familiar posters she took with her when she left.
Slightly off subject, but all the back and forth about Poor Sick Robin reminded me of Terry, the Most Pathetic Gay in All of Christendom. It's been so long, I can't remember if he actually posted here, or if we just read his blog and talked about it here a la Lisa Welchel or MichFest. Can anyone else recall?
- More gay men. There are too many fraus.
- Tequila Mockingbird not being here is a real loss.
Josh and Slocumbe are not.
- Mr. F
- [quote] White Belt Man
Either went insane, gave his account to someone else, or revealed himself to be a raging racist.
[quote] Blue Agave
I do miss him.
[quote] David Ehrenstein
Absolute asshole who called me a worthless closet case because I disagreed with him over a minor detail, misquoted the wrong section of his book as proof, and then backpedaled like a maniac and tried to pass it all off as a "joke."
I utterly and completely despise him.
[quote] Josh
I miss him too.
- Mr. F seemed cool.
- [quote]Mr. F
Me too! I loved him. I love how he came here posting about AL, but ended up just hanging out and giving great skin care advice.
- MrsPatrickCampbell, even though she's completely insane. She still posts on that other board, and quite prolifically. Her tinhattery is exhausting, though. Was she doing that shit over here, or is that a more recent development?
- Miz Slocombe was here a few months ago. He started an anonymous thread about his partner dying of cancer. After the death, he came back and thanked those who had been supportive and identified himself.
David Ehrenstein was all over Salon's message board not long ago. Don't know if he still is.
There are very few I don't miss (David E is one). The board was far more colorful when they were around.
- Kipper - I remember when she was recuperating from breast reduction surgery, and was posting from bed with an ice compress on her chest. She said drugs and DL were the only things that made her feel better.
Price Leatherbarrow.
Tequila Mockingbird.
RIP Blue Agave.
- Cancer Stick Man and Valiant Thor - possibly one and the same - made detailed posts about the MI complex and otherworldliness from a position of evident sanity.
Catering Guy was promising, but his indiscretions were probably traceable.
I'd also like Charlie to share again about The Duke of Windsor.
- Dr. Yes posts under another name.
- I wonder who Tequila Mockingbird really was. He was
far too clever to be a simple drag queen
He invented the whole "crying as I type" meme.
- r60 - And I believe he also coined the very funny but not as well-known "evacuating as I type" meme during one of the threads about a Hurricane.
- Tequila was delicious. I used to know some of his other personalities but I've forgotten them now.
I believe Michael K of DListed posted here anonymously before he started that site. I also remember Rosie O when she was briefly infatuated with us.
It was nice when Michael Musto, Ted C, that woman who wrote The Glass Castle and other national gossip columnists posted here on the regular. Between them and the hair/makeup people, this place had some incredible gossip.
Christ, I've been on this board for 13 years. I've never had a job that lasted that long. I've never had a relationship last that long.
And now I'm sad.
- I agree Tequila Mockingbird was very funny, but she was also pretty much an asshole. And uncool politically, either a Republican or very conservative Dem. She loved Reagan and thought Clinton was too liberal. When Reagan died she was pissed most DL'ers were saying good riddance. I always assumed Mockingbird was still around but had just stopped posting with the name. If she really did just disappear all of a sudden, and never returned, she's probably dead.
- Dallas, Ft Worth, Left is Right, Blue Agave, Paul (authenticated), OutInTexas, ...
- Cackle Cackle.
I won't speculate whether the more recent version was real or not. Either way, I felt comforted in the same way I feel watching an Andy Griffith rerun.
- Still here since Clinton was President.
I lurk & post anon.
Most of the time that I post as Pee Wee Poundstone some bitch challenges me for instance on the Kim Kardashian porno post. YES bitch she got pissed on in the uncut tape which I saw. The pubic gets the edited tape!
Just saying.
San Francisco has a new breed of young pasty fat drag queens as the elder queens are fading & are frankly tired. Hecklina please sit your ugly ass down. I never understood the fat tweeker phenomenon which is happening as we speak at Decco.
And the hordes of str8 acting flyover queens prancing around town for Folsom Street, oy.
Pee%20Wee%20Poundstone
- I miss pissy-pants
- What; a; bout; me?
Thethoughtfulcritic
- Lynn
Matt H.
- I miss Susielee and Blue Agave.
- misshelenbedd seems to have lost some of her enthusiasm. Her debut thread (the first one she hijacked), " I hate queens NY/ I hate NY Queens was one of the funniest off base conversations in DC History.
- I hated CrazyMint, and I'm glad he's dead.
- Josh, White Belt Man, Blue Agave, Price Leatherbarrow, Friday Afternoon Drinkiepoo Troll, JonEric, Gay History Troll, Joan's Grandkid
"There was one poster here supposedly from "down south" who employed a maid with the name of Cleopha."
If he was "down south," it would have been the southern part of his city - San Francisco. I don't recall the name but still remmeber his funny posts about Cleofa. I think he taught at a college.
- I miss Becca.
The fact that she's gone make me sad. Very, very sad.
- [quote]We haven't had a Swiss Chick post in awhile.
I'm surprised someone remembers me, I'm neither witty nor smart. Thank you R43, I'm still here and post from time to time but not as much as I used to.
I miss the Falco fan who used to ask for German translation. So if anyone else wants something to be translated from German, ask away.
swiss chick
- [quote] And I believe he also coined the very funny but not as well-known "evacuating as I type" meme during one of the threads about a Hurricane.
No, that was one of the lesbians.
- I always enjoy (and often agree with) Hollywood Hills' posts.
I think he (she) is still around, just doesn't seem to post as regularly but that's probably because there are fewer genuinely interesting threads about old Hollywood.
How many Joan, Bette, Lucy and JUdy threads can you contribute to without repeating yourself?
When I first joined DL there was an "Ava Gardner on What's My Line?" thread that went on for 100s of posts and a couple of weeks. That's what hooked me.
- What happened to the Friday afternoon drinkypoo troll?
- Friday afternoon drinkypoo troll was Latifah, a poster from DC.
- Nan Michiganwoman, or however you spell it, and her rage against our penis-personed run world.
- I never imagined tinabina, the pet store owner, to be straight. She always had a lot of drama in her threads, typical of lesbian drama. Maybe she's out of her closet now.
- While the risk of a stray phallus on womynslands remains, I and my trailer are still here. But I scream with angry power at the connectivity rape of a heteropatriarchal petrol generator!
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/01/fashion/01womyn.html
Nan%20Michiganwomyn
- Bravo, Nan!
Well%20said
- I do miss some of the cool lesbians from days of old - Latifah, lah, the one who had cheeks in her name (I can't remember it).
I don't miss Shobe. I was very happy when we drove her away.
- Was Latifah a lesbian or a guy?
- JonEric, White Belt Man, Darren, Lynn.
- [quote]"There was one poster here supposedly from "down south" who employed a maid with the name of Cleopha."
[quote]If he was "down south," it would have been the southern part of his city - San Francisco. I don't recall the name but still remmeber his funny posts about Cleofa. I think he taught at a college.
Lulu!
- I miss Big Muscle Troll.
- To the person who replied to my post, you are correct! It was LuLu from SF who would smack Cleofa around. Those posts were hysterical!
Miss%20Suki
- Lulu once posted two photos of himself. Whatta hunk!!!!!
- I miss some of those mentioned already very much.
Torta was amazing. I still remember his his serious warnings at least 24 hours before Hurricane Katrina, specifically about the danger of levee breach in New Orleans. No one in the major media, and certainly not in the White House, seemed at all concerned until it actually happened.
Skinwoman's advice has served me well and saved me money for years.
I also love josh, with the lower-case j. I kind of think he's still here sometimes. Before he went underground he used to post some of the wittiest, smartest and yeah, troll-teasing shit on the site. Why some on DL turned on him so viciously, especially after he included us in the dedications in his first novel, is beyond me.
And then there's paul--is he gone? Loved his politics and his style.
Finally, I actually miss peg (and all those who pretended to be her). Remember when right-wing crap posted here used to at least amusing and self-aware?

simple jealousy.

- Josh's book is on the shelf at our local library. I know, because I ordered it and placed it on it's rightful spot on the proper shelf!
http://www.amazon.com/Am-Not-Myself-These-Days/dp/0060817321/ref%3Dsr_1_1%3Fs%3Dbooks%26ie%3DUTF8%26qid%3D1348363457%26sr%3D1-1%26keywords%3Di+am+not+myself+these+days
- Kirker, Shobe, and DiDi vonCuntington
- I agree with r92. I always enjoyed input from josh and was happy when he got the book contract. Sadly, a few jealous queens bashed him until he just stopped posting. It's the same hateful bitches who post EST on any successful thread.
- only jealous cunts do that
- [quote]I agree Tequila Mockingbird was very funny, but she was also pretty much an asshole. And uncool politically, either a Republican or very conservative Dem. She loved Reagan and thought Clinton was too liberal.
You are totally making shit up. Tequila would always brutally slap down DL's best freeper troll ever, peg.
- The cult of personality revolving around people like Kirker, Josh, Kipper is what killed DL.
Most of the others mentioned, who came before, enhanced the site and mad it a nicer place to be with every post they made.
- [quote]The cult of personality revolving around people like Kirker, Josh, Kipper is what killed DL.
only a cult in your own mind, dearie
- NaT was a fun lesbian chick.
Torta would show up for hurricanes (and other stuff) then Butterbean would check in from Baton Rouge.
Skinwoman and Mr. F had great skin advice.
Some named posters who are still here stopped authenticating because of the stalkers.
- r97, I think is posting on Wonkette. If so - I doubt he is a conservative.
He use to be a gawker too.
Of course - someone could be using his name.
- peg was so awesomely unflappable for a troll. There was a professional smoothness to her that I begrudgingly admired.
The only thing that got to her was when Tequila authenticated as "peg" and then everyone started posting as peg. It really got under the trolls skin because his vanity was hurt by nobody ever knowing if it was him posting and therefore treating every post as a joke.
The webmaster finally added a script that if you typed peg it would appear as "flame bait". That was the end of peg.
I did think it was funny that some naive DLers would recount pegs purported biography (she's a lesbian who lives in Seattle) as if anything that poster said was honest or reliable.
- now now, we all know full well that Peg lived in a van down by the river.
- NaT was a NuT. And a huge fraud
- R99 = kirker
- How was NaT a fraud? I knew her. She was exactly what she said she was.
-
I miss Umpy.
Yeah---I%20went%20there
- The whip trolls, Bexton, RFAT. Are they still with us?
- Forgot, Catherine of Sienne. Nasty bunch there.
- [quote] How was NaT a fraud? I knew her. She was exactly what she said she was.
And what did she say she was? here she had credentials for everything, from firefighting to medicine. She was a fraud, and a pony perpetrator.
NuT
- R108, but nobody likes us so we never authenticate
troll-dar%20ruined%20the%20DL
- R109 Catherine of Siena was Mrs Patrick Campbell. The only thing that changed was the name.
While I thought that poster could be very clever 20% of the time, I also thought it was shockingly lazy trolling to not give each character a distinct personality.
- R112, the different names were because that bitch got banned more times than any other!
- Lady Prudence Fairfax
- Who came up with "lady hamper"? That made me laugh for days.
- R115. That is not a DL original. That is from one of Deven Green's Brendad Ickson videos.
- Wow...I haven't been on here in a long time...seeing all these names brings me back to when I started posting here years ago. Time flies!
AAJtheoriginalAJ
- indeed it does
- Juanita "Jazz Hands" Bynum
The Cheekster
Steve
Two guys I can't remember there names exactly: 2hot2bBelieved, and some white rich guy
- [quote]While I thought that poster could be very clever 20% of the time, I also thought it was shockingly lazy trolling to not give each character a distinct personality.
For some time, it was Catherine of Siena who used the verificatia words but he is now tossing "ia" words into Mrs Patrick Campbell.
- Lady Prudence Fairfax
The Fabulous OP
Torta
Tinabina
Susielee
- Remember fa?
- yeah, not well, not pleasantly
- I was one of the few people who liked fa. Those posts were so ridiculously sublime. I always believed that fa was also the ladyham lady.
A big up for Juanita "Jazz Hands" Bynum. Wasn't that another personality for whatshername, America's Best Christian?
2hot2bBelieved was a collective character like Cheryl.
- Leopold and all of his personae. His 'Music Legend and Cultural Icon Dionne Warwick Here' thread is legendary and represents how I imagine the DL was back in the day.
Ciaran
- Oh, and Tigernan. I really miss him. I wonder if he is still prowling around? I felt so bad after the huge melt-down about his job. I always wondered what happened to him. I hope he's ok.
Ciaran
- [quote]For some time, it was Catherine of Siena who used the verificatia words but he is now tossing "ia" words into Mrs Patrick Campbell.
Did Catherine of Siena also talk about "their" husband who had sizemeat and low hangers? Discuss!
I remember Fa, but not fondly.
- I remember a troll who claimed to be a straight woman who insisted Kevin Spacey was a 100% straight pussyhound. Was it SS Teri? She'd always include a lot of smiley faces in her posts.
- SS Terri. The Canadian nurse, I think.
- I used to enjoy Latinagirl's boyband gossip back in the day.
- What about RWOAC? Does anyone miss him/her/it?
- I enjoyed Ranger and Seven as well.
- R132, Seven still makes appearances and post anonymously. Look especially when there is a Damon Butt thread or post, and Seven will be there. You know that has to be some sweet stuff!
- Yes, I liked RWOAC - Rebel WithOut A Cause - as well. He always had an interesting perspective.
I love, love Leopold and his Miss Warwick. Adn yes, it is very much like the DL of old.
- CrazyMint
- [quote]I liked RWOAC - Rebel WithOut A Cause
"Rebel Without A Cause" was a film. I think our DL poster went by Rebel Without a Clue.
- [quote] You are totally making shit up. Tequila would always brutally slap down DL's best freeper troll ever, peg.
No, I'm not. The far-right peg may have been too conservative for her, but Reagan wasn't. And I distinctly remember when she said Clinton's shortcoming was being too liberal. I said that's ridiculous, he was a centrist (a former head of the DLC) and too conservative if anything. Then I asked on liberal message boards for examples of how he had been too conservative, listed them in a reply to Tequila, which she didn't bother to refute.
- peg is far left of the posters here now
- Some of the people mentioned still post anonymously
- [quote]Cackle Cackle.
I miss him too.
- webmaster (authenticated)
- webmaster (authcunticated)
- Stewart Swerdlow and his crazy conspiracy shit.
- We'll miss PPSM like we would miss a case of diarrhea.
- I'm sure I'm misspelling her name, but Sage Moonthyme, Womyntrapreneur™.
- R137: You are either crazy, lying or both.
I've been on this board for ages and remember when that poster was here very well (I even printed out some threads from way back when) and you are totally making shit up.
I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are confusing names.
- ellen from Des Moines. As a kid she ate fluffer-nutters.
- The original Cheryl.
- I go way back on DL. Can't remember what year I started coming here. Maybe 1999. But it was the days of having a bio page and a link to your own personal web page. I was a mostly a lurker in those days, still am. I remember a guy posting as Tomas2 who lived in Austin and would set off flames like White Belt Man and Kirker. He was very innocent about it all. It got the bitchness in DL going. There was also Anita Price-Czech who wouild come out with some funny posts.
I do miss Blue Agave and Torta, Betty Bowers, and Tequila. Whatever became of JonEric? I used to like to read ROWACs posts since we both enjoyed opera, a subject rarely seen on DL nowadays.
Ethan
- Tequila was NEVER a conservative. That's crazy talk
