I've been seriously into the groove of this song since I first heard it, but I enjoy the video too. It pulls a lot of pop culture references from past music videos (some of which I can't even identify) like Prince, PeeWee Herman, Talking Heads, Marilyn Manson, Martin Gore, Courtney Love, and Axl Rose, among others.

http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3Dt_8pqp7hMUQ
- I think the main reason why so many of these new songs are so mediocre to just plan bad is people don't write music anymore. They write lyrics and then add music. If you want to see this, see how bad the music really is today, redo the song in a language you don't understand and you still hear how bad the actual music behind the lyrics is, including most of the songs listed on this thread, of which I have listen to many.
Song writers today have become street poets with sonic noise playing in the background.

Just kidding. He's so totally shite these days. Sigh.
My favorite (at least in terms of "most listened to") is probably The Knife's "Heartbeats." It's a genius song and I want it played at my (never gonna happen) wedding. See link for video.
I would settle for the José Gonzalez cover if he serenaded me and then we made out for like eighteen hours, but I doubt that's going to happen either.
I was also infatuated with Hot Chip's "Boy from School," but I'm placing it in second.

- I'm surprised more gay men don't listen to John, his work is so brave in terms of being sexuality. I went to one of his concerts when Queen of Denmark came out and the majority of audience were straight couples. Good in a way, but sad too.
The Czars cover of Where the Boys Are, is one of my all time favourite songs.
http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3D8z7mGKEntL4
- I love that entire album - "I'm Sorry", "Angel Eyes", "I Fall to Pieces"... completely reinterpreted from a gay sensibility. The whole lack of gays into him remind me of the Hidden Cameras who attract mostly straight hipsters even though their music is total gay church music.
http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DCj7Vq0MFnkk
- Maybe it's not necessarily gay music, as in gay music is more shallow, easy, pink poppy music to dance to.
It's very indie and indie isn't a style most gay men dig.

- As a kid of the 80's, the first pup music that caught my attention was the straight up synth-pop of the time.
My tastes are broader now, but I'm happy that there are still groups that make similar styled synthesizer driven music. It's not stuff that gets airplay on American radio, but there are many bands out there.
One of the groups that I've liked pretty consistently is Ladytron. The attached is a record that could have been spinning on my turntable (yup) in 1985.
"Runaway" is from Ladytron's 2008 album.
