James Franco is doing another "Homo-Sex-Art-Film". Just how desperate is he to come out of the closet?

After delving into the world of erotic gay cinema with his film school short adaptation of Anthony Hecht's "Feast Of Stephen," which portrayed one man's viewing of a pick-up basketball game in New York, all around multi-hyphenate James Franco has now set up a teaming with filmmaker Travis Mathews (who wrote/produced/directed "I Want Your Love") for what's being described as a "homo-sex-art-film" that's sure raise a few eyebrows. "Last week I got an email from James Franco's agent asking if I'd be interested in collaborating with him on a homo-sex-art-film," Mathews wrote on his website. "A day later we were on the phone and a week later we're in pre-production! We'll be shooting at the end of July, I'll be editing in August, and in September it's going to play in a show in NYC. We're staying pretty mumsy on the specifics for now, but I can tell you that it's going to ruffle some feathers. Stay tuned!" As Mathews notes, they're keeping quiet on what the film will actually entail but the fact that it's due to unveil at "a show in NYC" suggests it's something more in line with the art world than the film world, right? Still, it's fascinating to track all the different paths Franco takes, particularly with an eye on his various directorial and producing efforts, which include his adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's "Child Of God" (slated to arrive next year), William Faulkner's "As I Lay Dying" or his anthology films based on works by C.K.
