That poor guy who got shot to death in Colombia (?) after scoring a goal in the other team's net a few World Cups back.
Mary Lou Retton is a far bigger Repug than any figure skater.
When we are ready to talk about National Treasures, count me in.
Own goals happen aren't that rare of an occurence in soccer. Andres Escobar's only problem was that he screwed up a drug lord's betting line. He was very well-loved there.
Jeremy Abbott is more of an embarrassment than Kwan. At least she's medalled at int'l comps. Abbott just chokes. It's like he's a walking gag reflex.
That French figure-skating judge who was in cahoots with the Russians.
Yea R12 but she won. Mucho gold
Hocan Andy Murray be a national embarrassment when he is the FIRST Brit to make it to Wimbledon in 36 years???
Sasha "Guaranteed to fall" Cohen.
Italy: Ottavia Cinquanta
Canada: David Dore
The Republican Party (US)
Johnny Weir is a living legend. A man of courage in a world of scaredy cats.
A man of no Olympic medals in a world where it takes a little more than being FABULOUS.
Justin Bieber (Canada)
Andy Murray (if he must be deemed embarrassing it's for the Scots, the rest of Britain is quite 'meh' about him)
R19 I'm sure you meant first to make it to a Wimbledon final in decades.
And he's not an embarrassment for that.
Crying in four finals is pushing it, though. This latest cry was touching and understandable but the other three? Most men and women players have taken their losses with a bit more dignity.
Viola Davis (US)
"Andy Murray (if he must be deemed embarrassing it's for the Scots, the rest of Britain is quite 'meh' about him)"
How silly - did you actually watch television and read the newspapers? "Plucky Brit", "Britain's Best Hope" etc
Strangely, it was only after he lost that he was returned to the status of "Scottish Loser"
In a tournament commented on (here in the UK) by Sue Barker, John Lloyd, Andrew Castle and Tim Henman...?
Yup, that's a whole lot of success there...
Drinking Game Alert!
R28 your defense is not very coherent. You're surely not saying those commentators called him a plucky Brit or a Scottish loser...
Of course they said he was Britain's best hope, but that's not a great compliment considering the rest of the field.
The reality is countries that put expectations on individual athletes should be disappointed in themselves. It completely warps careers. Let poor Andy actually win a slam before you expect him to win another one.
Sue Barker won the French Open

Yao Ming is a national treasure and loved worldwide, op. You crazy.
Teresa Giudice, Snooki, the Situation, anyone under 30.
r35 is right. Yao Ming is an international treasure.
[quote]Yao Ming is an international treasure.
OP obviously means Bai Ling, but you know how they all look alike.
[quote]Andy Murray (UK)/Michelle Kwan (US)/Yao Ming (CH)
Hmm, I think you're thinking about the wrong US foreign policy there, OP.
Hello from Hiroshima!
UK: blindly following the US into nearly every war/conflict available and also allowing fat peanut-head qween, Simon Cowell, to run our newspapers and take over TV.
And Kerry Katona.
Debbie Wasserman Shultz
the economics departments at uchicago, princeton, etc. (US)
r19 He has a VERY small pee pee.
Anne Murray is Canadian not from the UK and she's Canada's greatest singer. Even John Lennon said her cover versions of Beatles songs was the finest he ever heard.
But is she a gay?
R46, someone was punning on the resemblance of her name to ANDY Murray, Scotland's (but not Britain's) latest embarrassment..
What's wrong with Andy Murray. I saw him on TV today, and immediately began wondering how large his penis is.
I'm still confused why Yao Ming is on this list.
If you're going to use an abbreviation for China, wouldn't be more appropriate to use PRC?

We should talk. You can reach me at The Old Vic, London.

you forgot that dumb bitch bachman.
And these nutters aren't national embarrassments. They are world wide embarrassments
[quote] We should talk. You can reach me at The Old Vic, London.
Don't you really mean behind some bushes in the park?
UK shit that even a toilet couldn't flush away:
Ozzy, Sharon and Kelly Osbourne
Kanye West - USA
Justin Bieber - Canada
Piers Morgan - United Kingdom
Paulina Rubio - Mexico
Silvio Berlusconi - Italy
Adolf Hitler - Germany
Jean-Claude Van Damme - Belgium
Oscar Pistorius - South Africa
Mel Gibson - Australia/USA
Sinead O'Connor - Ireland
I agree with OP regarding Andy 'Misery' Murray. He has the ultimate entitled attitude and is a cry baby. No one at BBC Sport will mention the fact that he won Wimby the year that had the most shock results of seeded players getting knocked out early and a record number of players pulling out injured. He didn't even play a seeded player until the final.
As for others:-
Russell Brand (UK)
Simon Cowell (UK)
Piers Morgan (UK)
Oscar Pistorius (South Africa)
Allain Rowland (Ireland/France)
Johnny Depp (US)
"Sinead O'Connor - Ireland"
National treasure, I think.
If you want an Irish embarrassment, one word - Bono.
R71 Actually Murray played 3 seeds before the final #32 Robredo, #20 Youzhny and #24 Janowicz. Beating Djokovic in the final was enough to justify it being a deserved win anyway. I always think if your the only one to win 7 matches you deserve it. Not the winner's fault if other top players aren't good enough to get through their matches.
In tennis terms Tim Henman was always a bit more embarrassing in the UK but only because the media put him under so much pressure despite the fact he was a decent top 10 player but clearly never top 3 or 4. It was obvious Murray was better than Henman ever was and he handled the pressure well.
