I didn't read Spiderman Comics, was Peter Park an odd looking geek in the comics?

First Tobey Maguire and now Andrew Garfield. They have character actor and not leading man looks. Not that they're ugly, but not traditionally handsome either.

• Yes. At least at first, he was an 'odd looking geek,' as well as very skinny and socially awkward as drawn by his original artist, Steve Ditko. Over the years, successive artists have drawn him as better looking, and definitely more muscular (he gets a lot more exercise than he used to, so I guess that makes sense). What's amusing is that he is still depicted as being roughly 5'9 and 160 pounds, making him significantly shorter and thinner than most other Marvel heroes.

• There is the amazing spider-man and the spectacular spider-man.

• Fun Fact: The hyphen was added to distinguish it from Superman 'cause both Superman and Spiderman look similar upon first glance. But Spider-Man makes it distinct.
