- I'm thinking season two will take place three to five years after the opening of 'Bombshell' with flashbacks to some of the major turning points in the lives of the characters.
Perhaps Ivy will finally be a star and Karen will be trying to rebound from a bad career slip. And both will once again be competing for the new show Tom and Julia are working on.
Or not.
- When do they start shooting Season 2?
- It starts shooting July 17th, R2.
Good ideas, R1, but it won't happen.
- Yankee Doodle Katherine ..

- Just announced that Leslie Odom Jr. (Sam) will be a regular on the show next season.
Ugggh. The character is a horrible and annoying cliche. How much you wanna bet Sam and Jennifer Hudson's character get to do a big gospel number?
- This show was renewed?
- I'm glad it's back.I love it!
- Were they hoping that the release of the soundtrack would be more successful so they could release a second one ??
There are a bunch of songs from 'Bombshell' that aren't even available for download. (on Amazaon anyway)
- iTunes, r8, iTunes
- r6, the show was renewed because a huge number of viewers watch the show on DVR and TIVO up to seven days after first airing.
- Even checked I-Tunes. There's about five songs from 'Bombshell' that aren't there.
Someone did the whole 'recording' on YouTube. It's about an hour long, but you can't download it, just 'watch and listen'.
- Here is that YouTube 'full recording' (with some 'intermission' songs not part of 'Bombshell')

- Bombshell will flop and the gang will start working on a new show. And of course hire McPhee and Hilty. sorta like the way Kathleen Marshall keeps hiring the same people over and over for her ensembles.
Joyce Chittick
- Paging "Ellis"...that is the inside source, not the creepy assistant.
- That ain't how it's gonna happen, Joyce.
The second season will involve a rival musical which Ivy hops on (the one Jennifer Hudson is starring in). The season will be about Bombshell and this other show undercutting each other, culminating in going head to head at the Tony Awards.
- Will Wesley Taylor be back?
Cameron bitch Adams
- I hear it will be quite different than season 1.
- Krysta Rodriquez joins the cast.

- The character of Sam just bugs me. It's as if the writers were trying to click off as many PC-appropriate boxes as possible while making the character 'interesting' and the improbable relationship a viable one. Interracial romance between chorus boy and famous producer? Check. Check. Sports-obsessed gay man who sings in a church choir? Check. Check. A chorus boy who doesn't put out? Ridiculous.
- The Sam character should have gotten the heave ho along with the rest of the male cast.
- I just love the way Agelica's hair moves when she turns her head. I want that haircut!
- Jeremy Jordan tweeted today something like "First day on Smash, like first day of school!" They don't start shooting until next Monday so I guess he's referring to the cast table read. If so I can imagine Cousin Deb closing her eyes at one point in the middle of it, looking up from her script and bellowing "I MISS YOU, WILL!" And some of the newbies will think she means Will from Will & Grace.
- Is Chase still fucking her?
- r3, Greenpoint or Long Island City?
- They have stages in both, R24.
R3
- Several Season 1 ensemble members won't be seen again.
- They're shooting a big sequence in Gramercy Park today. I saw Jennifer Hudson leaving her trailer.
- r27,I hope the crew had lots of umbrellas
- Picture of Kat filming second season. Looks a little thicker.

- Daniel Sunjata is joining the cast this season.
There were bits of Smash on a promo for NBC which aired during the Olympics. There's a bit of Jennifer Hudson saying to Karen "Somebody's ALWAYS gonna try to take you down, honey" and Eileen saying something like "The luckiest ones get to live their dreams and that's what this show is all about."

- Just heard that Smash could be on as early as November if one of the fall crop bombs quickly.
- I need to know if Wesley is back!!!!!!!
- R33 - he has tweeted pictures from the set with Meg Hilty.
I wonder if our "insider" can give us some info?
- Thanks R34.

- I guess they are doing a musical version of Dangerous Liaisons.
- R37, that's a show that Ivy gets a role in alongside Sean Hayes as its leading man. Bur that story arc lasts for only a few episodes.
Most of the season revolves around Bombshell being put on hold because it had dirty money in it provided by the hot Irish barman. He'll end up in prison. Most of the first episodes will be about Karen meeting a young songwtiting team (Jeremy Jordan and ??? Mentius). Jeremy plays a heartbreaker composer Karen falls in love with and Mentius plays the geeky gay lyricist. Thank God the awful relationship between Christian Borle and Leslie Odom Jr's characters is put on ice for the time being. If Bombshell does get to open on Broadway it won't be until the 10th episode or thereabouts.
- [quote]Too bad they couldn't use the plot of Garson Kanin's novel SMASH which is about FUNNY GIRL and all the problems that show had on the road.
I just read that novel, as suggested by this thread, and it didn't seem to be so much about Streisand but more about the creative process -- director, producer, composer and lyricist, stage managers, costume and set designers...
The performers, especially the Star, as she is referred to, are part of the personnel but not the main part, I would say. And the Star in the novel was already well-established although making her Broadway debut.
I also liked the milieu of Times Square in the late 70's -- seedy, dangerous, worn down and awaiting a revival. And there's a subplot about the drug use backstage -- you could smell the pot coming from who knows where. I remember that you could light up almost anywhere without any hassles.
I recommend this novel -- I borrowed a copy from the library (an inter-loan.)

- When will the new season debut?
- Hope it's true that it could start earlier if one of the new crop of NBC shows bombs.
Taylor Kinney, I am looking at you!
- I agree R41
- NBC is winning its time slots for the first time in almost a decade. You won't be seeing Smash any time soon.
- When does it start again?
- Feb. 4
B.%20Tartikoff
- McPhee looked great at GG

- Kat's definitively gained weight since the pilot.
- The first hour of season two is available at NBC.com and On Demand from your local cable provider.
