Country Singer Trace Adkins On The Record ***AGAINST*** Same-Sex Marriage
“Through civil unions, gay couples are welcome to all the legal benefits that married couples get. But please don’t call it marriage, okay? I know it’s just semantics, but words have meaning. And that’s where I draw the line — and that’s where I draw the line. And please don’t call me homophobic, or whatever y’all call it, because I’m not afraid, least of all of lesbians or gays. Lots of gays are country music fans.”
- Who?
- Apparently he is some piece of slime.
- Dear Trace:
You are a homophobic, ingnorant, and miserable trail of cat sick. Die in a grease fire.
Fag
- Please don't call country music "music".
- [quote]I know it’s just semantics, but words have meaning.
Yes, that's why so many of us wanted - and have fought for - the legal right to use the same words you can. Jackass.
- How long I've admired this man's ever-present bulge. Surely he must know that more than women ogle it.

- Would you permit us to call you a cunt then?
- Trace butt

- Country music star is homophobic and thinks gay people should be second class citizens, even his so-called gay fans. Quel surprise.
- I know it's just semantics, but he's a lousy American if he doesn't believe in Equality for all.
- "Just shut up and don't you dare say I'm against you just because I am. I get to say what your rights are because I'm country. So shut up and don't you dare."
I know it's just semantics, but you're a bigot, Miss Adkins.
- Ewww. He isnt't even one of the hot ones.
Tim%20McGraw%20supports%20us.%20Woof.
- On July 5, 2001, Adkins was charged with driving under the influence in Nolensville, Tennessee. The singer pled guilty and was sentenced to 11 months in jail; however, the sentence was suspended after 48 hours. In addition, he had to pay $350 in fines, and his driver's license was suspended for one year.
As a youth, Trace was in an automobile accident in which his 1955 pickup truck hit a bus head-on. Both his arms, a leg, and some ribs were broken and his nose was partially torn off. Trace was forced to give up football after a severe knee injury at Louisiana Tech. He has also experienced a number of serious injuries as an adult, including being shot by his ex-wife in 1994. The bullet went through his heart and both lungs. He survived and chose not to press charges. The little finger on his left hand was partially severed and surgically re-attached.

- anyone else?
- Typical anti-gay Country Music singer.
Country Music is the Republican Party. No foreigners, no non-Christians and NO HOMOS!
- Why do so many celebrities and musicians feel the need to 'weigh in' on their political beliefs??
Why are we supposed to think they have any political knowledge whatsoever?
Just sing your fucking shit music, and shut the fuck up, hick.
- Some people like to attack minorities because it makes them feel better about themselves. That is what Adkins is doing here.
- He likes that Honky Tonk Badonkadonk
http://www.chicagonow.com/lists-that-actually-matter/files/2011/06/Trace-Adkins.jpg
- R17, I think what's really going on is (a) racism against Obama, (b) pro-GOP posturing during an election year, from a right wing nutjob who happens to be rich and thinks he'll benefit better from a Romney presidency, anc (c) pandering to his bigoted right wing fans.
- R16, why can't celebrities express their political beliefs? They're citizens, too, and as such have a right to voice their opinion(s). Just because they say something you don't agree with, doesn't mean they should "shut the fuck up." I bet if he was FOR gay marriage, you'd be lauding him to no end.
I don't even know who he is (since I don't listen to nor follow Country music) and DEFINITELY don't agree with his views, but he's entitled to them. Whatever. It's not like he has the power to make regulations. If he were a politician with these views, I'd be more concerned.
- So someone doesn't share the same beliefs as you. What ever will you do? If you're like a lot of the posters in this thread, you'll spew insults and hope he experiences bodily harm.
And why do these posters say such things?
Because Trace Adkins doesn't agree with them. What a bunch of petulant children you are...
- No, R20, even if he supported gay marriage, I'd say the same thing. It's a political belief spoken from a non-political person.
The fact that we are discussing this means that this is a celebrity using their celebrity for some other purpose, OBVIOUSLY.
Sorry it's not obvious to you.
- I believe I once read that he's actually a registered Democrat, as is fellow country music star Toby Keith. And we all know that Garth "ThighsForDays" Brooks is a Democrat.
- Homophobia is homophia with or without dragging semantics into it. Live and let live. And if the 'abuse' of the word marriage is the only big thing that bothers Trace Adkins so much he should consider himself the luckiest man in the world.
- People don't always agree with you. Welcome to the real world, folks.
- Why won't Country Music just die off already???
Only American Republicans ever listen to the crap. Time for Country to go the way of Rockabilly and Dixieland and just die off....
- R25, the point here is that it's a CELEB making comments.
Back in the old days, musicians made music, and didn't espouse politics. Same with actors, up until Jane Fonda changed that.
- R26, country music is the most popular music in the USA. Not a fan myself, but get real.
- Ann Coulter has said when she gets booked on 'Inside The Actors Studio" to talk about acting, she would have no problem with actors getting involved in politics.
Til that happens, Coulter feels actors should not stick their noses in the political world.
- I hate this piece of trash for all the reasons listed above, but even more for this:
[quote]“Through civil unions, gay couples are welcome to all the legal benefits that married couples get.
Out and out lie. Gay people cannot get the legal benefits of marriage through civil unions. CUs do not exist in most states, civil unions are in fact illegal by constitutional amendment in many states, and they are not recognized at all BY LAW at the federal level even in the few states where they exist. And this doesn't even start on the fact that in the tiny handful of states where CUs do exist rarely do they measure up to the benefits of full marriage.
Interesting that this shithead has to make it up wholesale to make a point. Pure ignorance.
- Dearest, r21... This is more than just a disagreement about the new Batman film or Rihanna's latest album.
It's about civil equality, Some views are reprehensible, and this is one of them. Someone who denies the holocaust or says blacks are inferior doesn't just merely have a different opinion that needs to be respected, you retard.
- Honorable R31...this is a disagreement of opinion. Trace Adkins believes something that you don't - get over it.
Your comparisons of the Holocaust and blacks being inferior are clever, but are fallacious comparisons. Look it up.
Learn how to think, sweetie.
- r32, speaking of learning to think, the phrase is "difference of opinion," genius.
He has a right to state his opinion. Others have a right to criticize his opinions.
Nobody has to "get over it."
- He's a douche!
- R33 It's time to "get over it" when one's reaction is:
"Dear Trace:
You are a homophobic, ingnorant, and miserable trail of cat sick. Die in a grease fire."
- R32/35 etc. maybe you need to "get over" the reactions of a gay & lesbian board.
- It's one thing for someone to have a differing personal opinion if the topic is taxation or war or economic recovery, it's quite a DIFFERENT thing to have a differing personal opinion when the topic is YOUR CIVIL RIGHTS. One does NOT have to "respect" that differing opinion. I do NOT have to "respect" that someone thinks I am a lesser human. YOU can respect it, but you are stupid beyond debate if you think I should respect someone's anti-gay opinion as a valid opinion.
- R36, Maybe we (gays and lesbians) shouldn't be so dramatic and thoughtless.
- Someone DEFINITELY needs to SHIT IN MY MOUTH!!!
R38
- What people like Atkins and his apologists on here don't get is that any other terminology for gay marriage would be second best.
It would reinforce the opinion that we are not equal to 'straight' people and not worthy of the institution of marriage.
- R25//32/35/38 - you're as tedious as you are self-loathing.
Maybe you should take your apologist ass over to a Trace Adkins fan board and suck his metaphorical dick there.
We're fighting for our civil rights and no, we don't have to "respect" the opinions of an ignorant, bigoted hayseed who loathes us.
- They're hung up on the old definition of marriage being for procreation only. That's the problem.
They are conveniently and homophobically forgetting that (a) many straight people have children out of wedlock, (b) most marriages end in divorce, and (c) many marriages produce no children.
- What they need to do is go to African Americans and tell them that they should "respect" the opinion that someone wants them to drink from the "colored" water fountain. What? Why can't you respect that? Huh? Duh?
- ^THIS
- [quote]Maybe you should take your apologist ass over to a Trace Adkins fan board and suck his metaphorical dick there
It's not metaphorical
http://oi48.tinypic.com/20pbktw.jpg
Hate to play devi'ls advocate, but his wang is huge
- [quote] And please don’t call me homophobic, or whatever y’all call it, because I’m not afraid, least of all of lesbians or gays
What he really means is, "Because I'm not afraid of a bunch of faggots"
- I know people who have gone from out-and-out homophobia, to believing that gays are "OK" and should have civil unions but not call it "marriage", to supporting full equality and marriage rights for all. Perhaps this Trace guy is evolving along the path to enlightenment. The fight is going to take many years.
- [quote]"Lots of gays are country music fans."
Trace, you douchebag, what the Christ does your quote have to do with your bigoted, and yes, homophobic viewpoint?
- If you swapped out Gay for Black, this story would be mainstream right now.
- Of course it would be, R49. Skin color and sexuality are two totally different things. Not saying one issue is more important than the other, but let's be honest here. As a gay black man, I can speak from both points of view.
- Outlaw divorce, ban porn and alcohol, while you are at it.
- If Country Music wants to be a bastion of homophobia and racism, it has the right to do that. What it does NOT have the right to do, is claim otherwise, which is what Trace Adkins and so many other Country Music singers do. AKA I don't think Gays should have full equality but that doesn't mean I'm homophobic.....
B*ULL SH*IT... Thats EXACTLY what it means.
- If he came out as pro-gay marriage, the hillbillies would stop buying his records. So Trace, just shut up.
Okay? Okay!
- So he thinks this will boost record sales?
If that is the case, then Country Music is Hate Music, just like what the Skinheads listen to in the UK.
- First off, what the fuck is a "Trace Adkins" and why does it have a career, exactly?
Second of all, I'll take my political advice from persons with IQ's in the three digits, please.
- He's a dick.
- I can't believe this pig is only 50 - I thought he was around 60!
His career is so sad he's on Celebrity Apprentice for the second time.
- Never heard of the hillbilly fuck. He can take his momma, his pickup truck, his jesus and his dog and stick them right up his ignorant redneck ass. I hate all of those conservative redneck country music cunts. They all sit so high and mighty above everyone else. They think their shit doesn't stink. Well, it does. They're all womanizers, pill poppers, closet homosexuals and Rethugs. Let them all burn in their Hell.
- He doesn't have the balls to speak his mind as vividly as Michelle Shocked. Surprised he had the guts to give his opinion at all. He got tiny balls compared to Michelle. Sorry Trace you fail.
- The statement Trace Adkins made was intelligent, polite and balanced. The view expressed is tolerant and reasonable. the fact that so many readers here react to it with rage, abuse, aggressive murderous messages "cunt£ and "shit" just reveal that you are disturbed and stupid people. tyou are narrow minded and cannot respect anyone else's view. Even the gays who don't want gay marriage get abused by the fanatics.
I lost count of all the predictable accusations of "bigot" and "homophobe." I've got bad news for you. There's not such thing as homophobia!
Gay%20marriage%20is%20a%20Joke
- Kristen Chenoweth co-hosted the country awards with him, knowing full well his stance on being anti-gay marriage.
- [quote]Through civil unions, gay couples are welcome to all the legal benefits that married couples get
If this were true I'd have no problem not using the word marriage. I don't care about the word. I care about how difficult it is to file taxes.
- Oh please...is anyone surprised this red necked, yahoo, dumb fuck ,narrow, ,minded, gun toting, moron from the South is against it? I'm against him
Cobain..I%20hate%20dumb%20fucks
- his career has been over for a few years now. he wants attention.
- [quote]because I’m not afraid, least of all of lesbians or gays.
Oh, Trace. Be afraid. Be VERY afraid.
- What is some lesbian going to do to Trace?
- Don't think we won't Chick-Fil-A you!
- Everyone has a right to voice his opinion, just as we have the right as consumers to support them or not after they speak. I've been loving seeing all the bands/artists I follow on Facebook voice their support. This one from Shovels & Rope is my favorite so far:
[quote]We stand in staunch support of ALL people who love each other uniting in marriage in the eyes of God and State. We pray for peace for those who can not reconcile it in their hearts, and we though understand the challenges it faces to the religion of friends and family, we support equality under the law for gay marriage. We are praying for the wisdom of the court to recognize this. "In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." ― Martin Luther King, Jr.
- [quote]Kristen Chenoweth co-hosted the country awards with him, knowing full well his stance on being anti-gay marriage.
I never did trust her or believe that she was pro-gay.
As for him, he's currently doing Has-Been Celebrity Apprentice for the second time, which shows the state of his career.
- I love this "it's just a difference of opinion/get over it" shit.
It's hardly a surprise that this fool is a homophobe, but when it comes to personal equality, it's a lot more than a difference of opinion.
Anyone trying to lighten the load on Adkins is either a straight phobe or a coward who's daydreaming about sucking his dick. Both can suck shit out of his ass.
- [quote]Kristen Chenoweth co-hosted the country awards with him, knowing full well his stance on being anti-gay marriage.
You asked her or you "just fully know" what she knows?
- Le Blah.
- He comes off as a nasty piece of work on The Apprentice so I'm not surprised.
Homorosa
- [quote] You asked her or you "just fully know" what she knows?
It's no fluke that Kristin Chenoweth is back to host the American Country Awards for a second time on Monday night. In fact, the Broadway star lobbied hard to get back on the show for one reason: Co-host Trace Adkins.
He's so fun," Chenoweth told SheKnows over the weekend. "We just have such a good time together. I don't know why we have chemistry. We probably shouldn't but we do. I just love him."
http://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/979237/kristin-chenoweth-has-chemistry-with-trace-adkins
- Notice how on Celebrity Apprentice he didn't choose one black person to be on his team even though there were 5 black people to choose from.
- COULD SOMEBODY PLEASE SHIT IN MY MOUTH???!!!!
R60
- Trace Adkins is also a proud member of the NRA and is working with them on public campaigns for LESS gun control.
- I believe being a member of the NRA is a mandatory part of getting a Country Music record contract today, as is being heterosexual, American and white.
- Nobody cares what some cousin fucking redneck thinks about matters of the world.
Except for R60, who's ready with fork and spoon at the Colostomy Bag Buffet.
- [quote] How long I've admired this man's ever-present bulge.
Even if he wasn't a homophobic asshole....well, he might well have a porn star bulge in the pants, but he's too Wilford Brimley in the face for me.
- R[60] sounded more sane than most of you!
"Why do so many celebrities and musicians feel the need to 'weigh in' on their political beliefs??
Why are we supposed to think they have any political knowledge whatsoever?
Just sing your fucking shit music, and shut the fuck up, hick."
Charming. Someone disagrees w/you and they should STFU. Maybe you need some LEGAL medication.
- R81 = Dumb cunt freeper troll on a gay website who doesn't even know how to use the quoting function.
- Isn't he PRECIOUS!?
- Country Music is the Republican Party.
- Trace Adkins' career can't be doing so well if he has to appear on "Celebrity Apprentice" and "Dancing with the Stars."
Shotgun Red
- Ironic but true R85, so many people falsely think of "Dancing with the Stars" as the big time.
- Good for Trace Adkins He is correct on this issue. More of Country music as well as hollywierd needs to state what they think on this issue and not be bullied by the lavender mafia and there tactics to change the argument by name calling or by boycotts. I think i will go out and purchase his latest CD. www.narth.com is a place were all gays need to go to get help. Thank God there are still people with enough guts to take a stand on this issue in Hollywierd and Nashville Tn
William in Ky
- ^ Oh Papa Tooney. We've got us a Looney.
- Nashville, TN has pretty well become the center of the anti-gay voice of America today. It used to be Colorado Springs.
