Trailer for "Anna Karenina"
I had my doubts but it looks gorgeous. I thought they were going to do it barebones like "Dogville" but the sets and costumes are sumptuous!

- But it's an ALL WHITE CAST!! How can I watch this and feel good about myself?
Shonda
- Whatever.

- going to be a lot of hat eating on DL over this. It looks amazing, and Knightly looks great.
- Seems uninspired and KK is wooden, but the costumes look great at least.
- Keira just isn't an actress.
- Whatever the opposite of sensual is, that's Keira K.
And what R5 said.
- sorry bitches it looks fantastic. the theatricality looks like it works amazingly.
- Agreed, r7. I think my jaw hit the floor 57 times watching that trailer.
I just hope it lives up to the promise suggested here and isn't another Prometheus.
- I stopped the trailer just after the ice rink scene...the movie looks so affected...and Keira can't act.
- Another film where Knightley was hired to opose in the period clothes, regardless of her limitations as an actress.
Seriously, she's the last actress to cast in a film about passion, the way she pings.
- I think she certainly looks the part. I agree she can be wooden, but she doesn't bother me. I love the book and will definitely see it. It looks stunning.
- Keira Knightley is untalented, uncharasmatic and unattractive (she's at least 80% jaw). Leo Tolstoy's masterpiece deserves to be more than mere Oscar bait for some Hollywood agent's pet project. If you want to see her in period clothing, pick up one of her Vanity Fair spreads and spare the rest of us.
- I just finished the book. Amazing masterpiece.
LOVED it, loved Kitty, Anna, Vronsky, even Alexey. But LOVED LOVED Levin.
Who is playing him in the flick?
The trailer gave me goosebumps.
- And then, in the climax of my great dance number because I am a great dancer, I walk to the staged train tracks as the lights cleverly brighten. A slow walk is a dance, right, if I do it as a dancer?
Oscar Number Two, for sure, Mel! My turning point!
I just knew that R13, with her sensitive critique and scholar's view, would want to know, since she's talking about Masterpieces that are Amazing.

- I don't know what this will be like but I saw Knightley in the West End in The Children's Hour with Elisabeth Moss and I was surpringly impressed with her performance and presence on stage, particularly in the second act of the play.
A lot of people like her in A Dangerous Method as well.
- Her again? Are she and Joe Wright going to take it upon themselves to destroy every classic novel out there with their 'modern, edgy' take on things?
Can't stand Lantern Jaw Knightley, she's just Winona Ryder with an accent and an even more irritating voice.
- New American poster:
(Notice that Aaron Johnson is now going by Aaron Taylor-Johnson following his recent marriage to longtime companion Sam Taylor-Wood.)

- That is an absolutely terrible poster.
- I think it's gorgeous, actually.
- It looks really bland and unremarkable, and I say that as a person who likes Keira and Jude (who appears to steal the whole show). It doesn't look like KK and AJ have an ounce of chemistry between them.
- Looks gorge and with Stoppard's screenplay it should be amahzing.

- Is there any buzz for this movie at all?
- all happy DL'ers are happy in the same way... all unhappy DL'ers are unhappy in their own way....
- It looks better than the Great Gatsby thing.
- Would it be wrong to say I see a train wreck coming?
- Literary puns? Marry me, R25 .
- I like Knightly, but as Anna? NO! SIMPLY BAD CASTING.
- This is basically "The Duchess" set in Czarist Russia, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
- Only 65% on RT. Getting very mixed reviews.
- Not of a fan of Keira as a rule but she was quite good in Dr. Zhivago when she was all of 17.
