They should have made this movie back in the nineties with Streisand as the Witch, Matthew Broderick as the Baker and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the Baker's Wife.
i love a lot of these suggestions..you guys are great
[quote]Based on 9, could we squeeze Marion Cotillard in somewhere (not sure how you explain the accent tho)
These are based on fairy-tales. What does it matter what sort of accent Cotillard has?
[quote]by: Just no Zeta-Jones please, the floor can't take it
CZJ is too young for most of the female roles in the play, but she'd be perfect for Little Red Riding Hood, don't you think?
Emma Stone for little red please!
Hey Datalounge: really? You couldn't cast even ONE actor of color so I could feel good about my kid watching this film? NOT ONE?
Gavin Creel is way too old for Jack.
It should be Jeremy Jordan.
OP's choices are classic unimaginative Hollywood choices.
R13 does a much better job, except when it comes to the Baker and Baker's Wife.'
I'd move Toni Collette to Baker's Wife and open up our choices for the Witch.
Streisand should play the witch so she can sing her hit, "Children Will Listen" from Back to Broadway.
Agreed for some multi-cultural casting. Audra McDonald as the Baker's Wife. Jenn Collela as the Witch. Kyle Dean Massey as Jack (and he needs several nude scenes with Milky White who will be played by some young talented african-american actor).
Don't forget Bernadette Peters as the Grandmother!
Lea Michele would be great as Red Riding Hood with Michele Lee as granny. The recent London production had Red as a chubby, binge eating and manipulative girl, not wholly innocent by any means.
Katherine Jenkins would be a great Rapunzel. She doesn't say much and she was rather adequate in her Doctor Who episode.
Helena Bonham Carter as Jack's mother.
I'd like Glenn Close as the witch with Anika Noni Rose as Cinderella, based on her performance in Company.
Cast 3 African-American rappers as Anne Hathaway's sisters.
Can Elizabeth Rodriguez sing? She'd be an interesting Baker's wife. She could beat the shit out of the Baker every time he wimps out.
Actually Bernadette Peters could still get away with playing the Witch.
If they hurry.
[quote]Lea Michele would make a fine Rapunzel.
Yes. For the scene where Rapunzel has been stomped to death by the Giant's Wife.
Tyler Maynard is Jack - at least he'd find a way to get plenty of money to spare Milky White. He'd 'find' swag and we wouldn't need the 'hair as gold as corn' and all that other stupid shit. He'd find Ipads and plenty of bags of gold to appease the giant.
Yea I know he's 30+ and a serious alcoholic but I want to see his big cock.
They did a table read for it this week, I gather, with Megan Hilty playing Lucinda.
Jesus, I don't know any of these people.
Gavin Creel as Jack?
Gavin Creel is 37 years old.
Into the Woods = Snoozefest/high art for theater majors.
Will they just film the first act. If they film the second, only the queers and theater teen girls will be there for the end.
The second act is the whole points of Into the Woods. It's by far not my favorite of Sondheim's scores, but Act 2 is much more interesting.
CGI-enhanced Susan Sarandon to play the Giant's wife please. And give her a song.
Poor Amy Adams was by far the weakest link in the Central Park production.
Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep in talks to join the cast!
