Barry Diller - A friend has said he's both gay and an extremely, EXTREMELY nasty person

I confess I know nothing about the man and have never even seen him here in NYC out and about. Has anyone here has any experiences with him? Is he truly that miserable and ugly of a person? Is he an out gay/bi?
