Does anyone else think Anderson Cooper is a douche?
This thread is for discussing the various douchelike aspects of Anderson Cooper. Please use one of the other threads if you want to engage in a boyfriend flame war.
Like many people, I have been saddened by Anderson's descent from serious journalist to a giggling, spray-tan demonstrating, child beauty pageant obsessed, boyfriend hiding, Kathy Griffin and Kelly Ripa- behagged douche.
What do you think caused Anderson to pursue this douche lifestyle? He is such a joke nowadays. Is this some kind of revenge against his mother and her good taste and breeding?
- He was never a 'serious journalist'. Not in the eyes of his peer group
- His head has been completely turned by fame, much like Barbara Walters's head was thirty-five years ago.
- Good taste? Have you seen Glo's ridiculous 'dioramas'?
- He had a completely pointless interview with Michael "Maybe 2 Brain Cells" Phelps on 60 Minutes last night. He gets ALL the hard hitting stuff.
- If I were Anderson Cooper, and I wanted people to take me more seriously again, I would do three things:
1) Cancel the talk show. It's not working, and he comes across as a lightweight because of it. Admit it was a mistake, and move on: if he wants to relax and giggle on TV, then occasionally guest-host LIVE WITH KELLY like he used to do.
2) Cut "The RidicuList" from "360 with Anderson Cooper." The repeated gigglefits look like they're staged now, and, besides, the kind of shrill "sock it to the conservative enemy by calling them out!" journalism that he gives into in those segments went out of style with Keith Olbermann.
3) Come out. Everyone knows he's gay, and by staying publicly in the closet (and that's what he's doing, even if he's out to his friends and family) is more distracting than if he were out and proud. He says by not discussing his sex life he's retaining his dignity and his privacy, but at this point the reverse is true. he will not get fired nor will his ratings go down. he should come out and the press will stop playing peekaboo with him and he'll get out of the gossip[ columns.
- R5 he won't do any of that because it is all about the money and attention he craves.
- Not sure he's a douche. He's the epitome of boring white bread. Douchiness seems a bit beyond his reach.
- [quote]the kind of shrill "sock it to the conservative enemy by calling them out!"
He doesn't call out the conservatives, he calls out the liberals ONLY.
- Douchè
- And to think you bitches used to love me. Sigh.
AC, but I still got Ben fucking me. Jealous?
- Not ony did Andy interview that hard hitting newsmaker Michael Phelps, but the two of them demonstrated how to play a video game. We got to see Mr. Serious Journalist flailing his arms wildly in primetime. Here come the pulitzers.
- He's a douchebag lite. He's the Lean Cuisine to the Hungry Man.
- Love him!!
- Anderson is a fame/celeb whore. All he cares about is being famous and hanging out with celebrities. He doesn't care if the daytime show makes him look like a lightweight in the news business. The daytime show gets him the attention he so desperately craves. I don't know how many times I've seen on TVNewser articles about the daytime show. He gets more press for it than he does 360.
- I don't.
- I love him too!
- The only way to find out is to place a glass of vinegar nearby and see if he gravitates toward it naturally.
- The thing I don't understand is, if he had pursued the path of being a respected journalist, he would still have access to the celebrity friends and glamorous parties. Mike Wallace, Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw and Dan Rather all led active social lives. And their friends were interesting people like business and political leaders as well as celebrities.
And as for money, he was born with it, so it can't be that.
- He's really an Elite, Illuminati, ex-CIA, never worked a day in his life pretend journalist. He's a silly castrated caricature. They'd never let a 'mo stand tall on TV. So now he's giggling, good for him. Bad for you.

- He didn't inherit great wealth from anyone so he has found a way to live a highly affluent lifestyle. He's not about to change anything. I just hope he has some good investment advisers.
- "His shows are for queers -- dull, dull, dull."
Jerri Blank
- This bitch is all about her. Remember she went into hiding while reporting in Egypt. Me me me. I'm so important they want to kill me.
- He may have earned more money on his own than any of his Vanderbilt relatives, unless Cornelius was some kind of billionaire back then. AC is mega-wealthy.
- When he bottoms his ass is surprisingly rough. I expected it to be smooth as drooly silk, but it's rather gashy and rough, like used sandpaper. I don't know if he took it too many times and toyed around too much without proper lube when he was young, or if the near-albino, scaleless-fish look is just an external thing. Anyway, it was distracting. His ass is meaty, just now starting to droop and pucker on the edges with age.
He seemed to love it, although with his insisting on being on his stomach with his face down in all those down pillows I didn't really get that much of a sense of it except by how his pale body kept flushing and charging pink and red in patterns like a cuttlefish as I changed tempo and depth.
Paolo%20X.
- I like him. He is boring for all the fanfare he gets on television.
- Anderson Cooper is a great guy and a real American hero. The OP is a douche with no knowledge at all.
- AC spent too much time partying over the weekend. He seems out of it tonight.
- Anderson Cooper enjoys the protection of a phalanx of flying monkeys that ferociously defend his every word and deed.
Dorothy
- "South Park" did that "Trapped in the Closet" featuring a cartoon of Tom Cruise several years ago. It's time for similar treatment for America's #1 closet case, Anderson Cooper.
- Remember when Fox News called Anderson the Parsi Hilton of news? Normally I don't agree with anything Fox News says but they were spot on with that.
- R5 kinda nails it.
I'd add to that, don't do any more food segments on ANY show. His food phobias make him look like a child, or an idiot.
- I can't stand him! He comes off arrogant and really cocky!
- Yes and judging from his ratings they are not watching him either
- You are all just jealous, as he's all muscly and handsome with beautiful silver hair and an award winning smile. Plus he's rich.
Sorry he'd never want you
- R34, the feeling is mutual because I'm not remotely attracted to him so what is your point?
- What spray tan demonstration? Video, please.
- He and his bar owning boyfriend (if they're even still together) are one step removed from circuit queens, and thus, quite the douchebags.
- [quote]Remember when Fox News called Anderson the Parsi Hilton of news?
Parsi Hilton, LOL. That could be an Andy Cohen reality show... Parsis of Pacific Palisades.
- Yes! Moving on.
- I never did like him and I've never understood why people think he's so great. He's boring, he's a closet case, and he looks like an old albino.
- On a scale of 1 to Dane Cook he's a 2.
- [quote]and he looks like an old albino.
Whoa! We're inching toward the grand entrance of the Albino Ferret Troll to be swiftly followed by the Daytime Emmy Awards Troll.
- He reminds me of Templeton in Charlotte's Web. The Paul Lynde version.
Anonymous
- Totally Agree with r5, his day show is a total Fraufest and should be killed!!!!! Hang on he use to be a serious Journalist, may be that was just a phase
- Horribly boring, don't get the appeal.
- [quote]He was never a 'serious journalist'. Not in the eyes of his peer group
Snort.
He's not a serious journalist in the eyes of the general public. Despite being the highest paid talking head on CNN he has less than 200,000 viewers. Some of the worst ratings in the business. His "talk show" is a laughingstock.
Not to mention he's a pathetic closet case.
Giggles Cooper is an embarrassment.
- Anyone who hides in a closet denying the existence of a boyfriend for three years is a douche.
- [r47] First of all, although they may be seeing each other, are they an official couple? Please, tell me if you know first hand. When was it asked or denied? Also, being atop a float at Mardi Gras for thousands of people to see in the flesh doesn't really amount to denial. Being reported on Page Six is neither denial nor hiding. There are so many other full blown closet cases to give grief to. Save it for them. In NYC Anderson is not hiding by any means.
- Gloria Vanderbilt went and put her family's good name on every ass in America.
- I believe he has fallen behind the times because he remains in the closet, and the subsequent lack of respesct and sense of irrelevance that has engendered in those who pay any attention to him is directly related to his falling numbers.
- I have no personal feelings about him. I don't know him.
It does sadden me that he is hiding in plain sight.
But I would never hide who I am, sacrifice my integrity for something as fleeting as fame or money.
Zak
- Most overrated, over paid, boring log cabin repbulican on the planet. He is behind in the times, The president can support gay people but AC still prefers to hide. I don't have any respect for him anymore.
- He's such a coward. He wouldn't lose anything if he came out unlike other people, he's just doing it because he doesn't want to be publicly tied to the demographic. He does not want to be known as gay. He doesn't care about you all rights.
- He's out to his family and friends and maybe that's all he's interested in and he's not interested in what anyone thinks of it.
- R54 Ac doesn't give a shit about you. But Obama does if you're gay.
- It would be one thing if he didn't talk about his personal life at all and just read the news like Shepherd Smith, but Anderson talks about his personal life all the time and also "sells" himself by pretending to be candid, honest and open when he's anything but.
- Ac is a hypocrite. He interviews people and brings up their love life, butr he's off limits. I can't stand this double standard asshole. I think he enjoys being condescending and a rich elitist.
- R55, what makes you think I'm worried about what AC thinks of me? I was just making an observation.
- R58 because you keep making excuses for him, like you want to be in his favor or the truth hurts that he's a coward and afriad to amit he's gay when countless others have and even the President favors gay rights and AC refuses to budge. Stop making excuses for this hypocrite.
- [r52][r53][r55][r57][r59] Dear child, you have a serious problem. I sincerely hope that you have had personal interactions with Anderson for you to spew all this bile about him, because if you don't actually know him, get thee to the nearest therapist.
Oh%2C%20dear
- In addition to being a douche, I don't think he's too smart. Anyone known as a major closet case shouldn't criticize the President for his stance on gay marriage. That was totally stupid and bound to anger people who are sick of Cooper's pathetic habit of pushing his b/f to the back of the bus.
Ben needs to wake up and say, "Hey! I'm not Rosa Parks!" Most people would give up after three years of being told to run away and hide when there are cameras nearby. Maybe that's already happend since they're no longer seen together.
- [r61] If you don't think he's smart, it must be true. You seem like an expert on stupidity.
- [quote]You seem like an expert on stupidity.
All of DL became experts, r62, when you arrived with frequent demonstrations of your Benderson idiocy, snookums.
- Dooucè extraordinairè
- [quote]Stop making excuses for this hypocrite
R59, this is not about me, I'm only making an observation about AC's possible motivations, that's all.
[quote]like you want to be in his favor
Well let's not get silly.
- I like him.
- Evening once with his dad. Thought he was Proust. Wasn't.
- I think he's crawled even further in the closet lately because he associates the decrease in his ratings with the increase in publicity about him and his boyfriend. He isn't someone to look up to.
- Boring, elitist, log cabinette, chelsea clone. Next please.
- [r63] Pray tell what is Benderson? Are you 12?
Proved%20my%20point.%20
- I think he's a spineless bastard.
- He has to pay for that firehouse somehow.
- He is very self righteous. He tries to lecture his guests about their moral values. Oh, and he is always preaching to the kids. A little odd seeing that he has none of his own.
- r68 wins!
S.%20Elzy%2C%20Republican%20douche
- I love Anderson but R67's concise daddy smackdown made me laugh anyhow.
- I used to think he was of a higher caliber as a journalist, but yeah - douche is as douche does.
Similar to the jeering former-fans in the Madonna Fail threads, I am still sort of rooting for him. Wanting him to get a clue and get on a path back to journalistic respectability. He was once on track to having it.
Torta
- Denying the existence of a partner for three years is obvious douchery. It looks as if AC being a Ben denier is taking its toll and has moved them apart. Hopefully, Ben will find an out and proud man who appreciates him and isn't delivering a message of gay shame. He deserves better after tolerating this douche for so long.
- Hold the fuck on!
You cunts will NOT disrespec my man like this! He does a lot for homosesuals just by showing up to his three jobs everyday! Its not like people dont know that he likes dick. You guys are just hating because you are broke bitches!
The next fucker that says something I dont like is getting sliced Colombian style!

Pablo!
- R77, you may have something there. Ben did NOT look happy in those fashion week pics.
- Ben's QUITE happy with Anderson.
- He sure didn't look it.
- He doesn't seem to be a guy who smiles a lot to begin with.
- People don't smile a lot when they're shoved to the back of the bus while the A-listers ride up front.
- Hmm... the most recent Anderson thread I could find was closed before it hit 600...
Not a douche, perhaps, but the LA Times is saying he should come out as overpaid. love it.

- Not a douche at all.
- YES!
Talk about trashing your career.
He is now the king of the douche bags.
- R85
I agree with you
- YES
Hate her.
- CNN's top guy stepped down, so we'll see what happens.
- He was sleeping with the boss at Channel 1.
- He's in the top ten of TV's douchiest.
- This is funny because it's true!

- Karma bites, huh Andy?

- I know this is a little belated but I just want to say thanks to R17 for totally making me laugh.
And R2 has the right answer. AC likes fame and attention, period.
- Kelly Ripa .ANDERSON POOPER..AND EVERY FUCKING BLACK AND WHITE RAP ARTIST ARE FUCKING DUCHE BAGS.THE FIRST 2 HAVE ZERO ENTERTAINMENT VALUE.AND THE LATER, IS LIKE LISTING TO A HARDENED PEICE OF SHIT TRYING TO SQUEEZE OUT OF DOGS ASS......IT ALL SUCKS,,,,AND WHATS FUNNY IS THEY ALL THINK THERE GREAT...LOL.....
- R97, get back to us once the mood stabilizers kick in.
- [quote]He's in the top ten of TV's douchiest.
Who are the other nine?
- Bill O'Reilly is another of the top ten.
- He has gotten where he is because of his family and probably because he's let old geezers at CNN fuck him whenever. He's not a "jounalist" by any stretch of the imagination(no pun intended). Like many "celebrities" who could not act their way out of a wet paper bag, he is really only a "celeb" and jackoff material for the gays. That's about it.
W. Blitzer
- Gloria Vanderbilt, you know that fancy schmancy lady, who took her family's good name and put on every ass in America
Roseanne%20Roseannadanna
- I think OP's a douche.
- The thread titled "Anderson Cooper And Partner Ben Maisani Seen Together After Cheating Scandal" reached 600 and is now closed.
- [quote]he is really only a "celeb" and jackoff material for the gays. That's about it.
His bf is the one who is the jackoff material.
- From Gerald Clarke's bio of Capote:
Truman and Cooper [Wyatt, Gloria's fourth husband] later became good friends... Truman's friendship with Gloria, on the other hand, which had been tenuous from adolescence, progressively deteriorated. "She was a nasty little girl," he said. "She lied about her mother during her custody trial, and she was terrible to her until shortly before she died. She had a father complex. Her first husband, Pat DiCicco, was a rough-and-ready type who used to really beat her. She finally got rid of him and married Leopold Stokowski, who was more like a grandfather, or a great-grandfather, than a father. I introduced her to Sidney Lumet, and she only married him because she thought he would make her a movie star. But the only part she ever got was as a nurse in some television thing. When she found out he wasn't going to make her a star, she dumped him quick.
"Why she married Wyatt is a mystery. He certainly wasn't like anybody's father, although he did tell me that when they had sex together, she would scream, over and over, 'Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!' He grew to hate her, and he was terrified that she would leave him and take their two boys, to whom he was devoted. He was always calling me, asking me what he should do. I think that that anxiety contributed to his death. In fact, I had lunch with him just before he died [in 1978]. He seemed fine, but he kept talking about those boys. 'If only I can live another ten years,' he said, 'everything will be all right. But Gloria just isn't responsible enough to raise them.'"
- An NPR report on daytime TV talked about shows that have failed and the upcoming season. They told how AC's show had to be revamped for this season. While they didn't come right out and say that Anderson was a failure, it's understood from the fact it had to be reworked.
Katie Couric's new show is expected to make the biggest daytime splash. The #1 show right now is Judge Judy.
- I was gonna say what R2 said, but don't have to because he (she?) did.

- [quote]His head has been completely turned by fame,

- R111 you've posted this stupidity on every one of the AC posts. It's a photo that means a snapshot in time--no moving pictures. You cannot tell if in the next second after the photo is taken if he didn't move a step or two and actually spoke to anyone including Gloria. Are you really this DIM?
I wish this site actually took the trouble to just get rid of trolls sometimes.
- [quote]Are you really this DIM?
Thanks for playing, r112. Trying to match your trolling is a serious job but somebody has to do it. No doubt if I post the photo on another thread, you'll rush in there to post another defense.
It's so easy to make you trolls react to any silly statement about AC that has no basis in reality. It's all part of the collaborative fiction of a Cooper thread.
CF
- I try to not get involved in the inane arguments that fly on these AC threads R113 so I have no clue what the hell you're even trying to say here.
I just find what you wrote incredibly stupid that is all. The AC threads are pretty much unreadable now & all the trolling posts don't help. If the webbie was doing their job, they'd just eliminate some of these posts. But no, I'm not interested in playing whatever games are going on in your head.
- R112 is right, that photo is just an instant in time. Also R113, you apparently have your understanding of what a troll is and isn't, reversed.
- It's weird his head has been so turned by fame 9given that he grew up a Vanderbilt with a famous mother), but if you think of the Barbara Walters model you can see why it happened.
Barbara Walters' father was a nightclub promoter who was obsessed with celebrity, and she felt the best way to get attention from him 9and thus have her sense of self-worth validated) was to become famous.
Similarly, Anderson's mother desperately wanted to be a movie star and stay in the headlines, and as a child he must have felt to keep her attention he would have to become famous himself.
I used to respect him quite a lot before he started selling out to do his talk show and his New Year's specials and hanging out with the likes of Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on Diane von Furstenberg's yacht. What the hell can he really have to say to Kelly Ripa other than discussing being famous? He graduated from Yale; she dropped out of Camden County College.
- I can't imagine why Anderson's life/career choices cause so much torment for some people that they have to keep posting and digging up negative threads to express their never-ending disappointment with him on a daily basis.
- Benderfrau at r117, why don't you go back to your private shrine and light some incense cones to worship your diminutive white-haired god. The adults are talking.
- You don't sound like an adult R118.
- [quote]The adults are talking
That should be "the mentally ill 'adult' @R118 is talking to herself". There, fixed it for ya.
- Anderson Cooper threads all degenerate now into childish namecalling. I'm beginning to think webbie should put a moratorium on all of them for a while until the regular posters ot them can get their acts together.
- [quote]I have been saddened by Anderson's descent from serious journalist to a giggling, spray-tan demonstrating, child beauty pageant obsessed, boyfriend hiding, Kathy Griffin and Kelly Ripa- behagged douche.
As long as millions of dollars continue to pour into his bank account, he doesn't care if you've been saddened.
- I want Jon King's massive cock in me
CNN%20Camera%20four
- Not until Jon loses some of the tonnage he's put on recently.
- I watched a clip of Anderson Cooper interviewing Christopher Hitchens...it was so painful. Awful. I can't believe he makes a living interviewing people when he so clearly falls short of asking a pointed question and only hastens to fill gaps with his own personal stories which, if you read Hitchens books, is the exact thing that annoys him the most.
A
- He does an okay job when reporting the immediate effects of a hurricane or earthquake but he'll never be considered a serious journalist since there aren't enough hurricanes and earthquakes to continually demonstrate the only thing he does with a modicum of success. He doesn't have the personality to be a success on a daily TV show. He got the jobs on his name connection, not talent.
- Well OP I think the only reason AC is even friends with Kelly Ripa is because she forced the issue. She showers him (like all straight women do) with compliments so that he HAS to like her. She knows what she's doing. I do think Anderson knows the real deal. I could tell there would be no way in hell he would be her co-host. They wanted him bad enough but he was smart enough not to go there. So I give him some credit.
- Dear Diary,
My brother, Anderson, got in my bed again last night. He was naked and later claimed he was sleepwalking. I haven't told anyone and am just writing it in my diary because I know he would never read a diary that belongs to someone else.
Carter
- Yes, he is a major douchbag
JellyFinger
- Who's more douchie, Anderson Cooper or Donald Trump?
- How can you even ask that question R130? Trump has NO redeeming qualities. He's an evil blow-hard.
- OP's having difficulty working out her issues.
- Back in the mole days, he kept his douchiness well hidden.
- Why did the AC vs. Star Jones thread get deleted? It's not as if it was a DL exclusive. The story was discussed in gossip media so it was out for all to see.
- He just chose to be a celebrity, make a lot of money, whatever. It's American infotainment. What, he should pass?
- I really enjoyed that good reading he gave Ms Star Jones the other day. He Im sure he would have continued if it wasn't live. Its nice to know that he is human and not a robot, and that he does not take kindly to people talking shit about him. Now if he could just put some Dataloungers in their place about all the shit that we say about him here!
- Star Jones could easily have gotten the idea from DL that Cooper finally came out of his closet for ratings. That notion was posted here many times over in July. It's obvious that many people here thought that was the reason he came out -- the sinking ratings for 360 and the need to up the viewers for his daytime show.
- Look at his dog. How can a "douche" have a dog this cute?
http://instagram.com/p/QfiYIwEkKc/
- The dog looks just like him.
- She does actually R139.
- Cute dog. Who walks the dog every morning?
- Any vacation news?
- Anderson just certified his douche credentials.
[quote]On Watch What Happens Live, Cohen asked Cooper whether certain public figures should come out. Cooper said this, "I mean look, it’s a personal decision that everyone has to make for their own reasons ... I’m pretty understanding of where people are at, and people are at different places in their lives. But there’s a bunch of people whom I’m surprised have not been more forward, and you know given their position and the extent to which they’re forward about other aspects about their lives."
- I thought this thread was deleted last year. It's interesting to see it again at a time when he has now managed to become the gay douche of the season.
After spending decades in the closet and then coming out via a letter while fleeing the country, his comments to Cohen have put him in the Permanent Douche Pool.

- I was watching his "talk" show yesterday when AC interviewed a woman who eats face mask. AC had a "therapist" on (at the link) who is a sex therapist. When the mask eater said she had a pain in her stomach, Dr. Argosy piped in with a diagnosis of anxiety. WTF? The woman is ingesting clay and the pain she is experiencing is caused by anxiety. The diagnoses went downhill from there. Who vets these experts anyway?
