Anyone watch? I love In The Loop.
This should be great.
It was okay I guess.
Promising. I think they need a couple episodes to pull the ensemble together and find what works for the US setting as opposed to the UK setting Ianucci is used to.
I didn't like it.
She just won't leave us the fuck alone, will she?
What is In the Loop? The show with Mimi Rogers?
I'll stick to Scandal with Kerry Washington...the chemistry bwt Kerry and Tony Goldwyn is hot!
The show was crated by the guy who made the British political satire "In the Loop", and the series "The Thick of It". I know "In the Loop" got a US Release because its script was nominated for an Oscar; the Brit series, which is amazingly funny and profane, probably ared on BBC America.
The Thick of It needed time to come together and Veep has the same feeling. I wasn't thrilled with the first episode, but I'm going to keep watching.
Also, for anyone interested, The Thick of It will be running on BBC America starting on April 28.
I don't know how they're going to deal with language issue. Inventive profanity is a big part of the show's humor. They are airing at midnight so I'm hoping they keep it intact.
I watched it & thought it was terrible. Bad jokes, awkward moments, and trying too hard to resemble Sarah Palin.
Why can't there ever be a thread on DL discussing an American television program that isn't immediately infested with Brits and US fangurls yammering on about BBC?
Seriously people, start a thread to discuss BBC and British programming counterparts. It isn't very hard at all.
She wasn't anything like Sarah Palin.
The show may be American but it was created by a Brit who has a track record with this subject matter. That's why we're talking about the BBC.
I liked it.
If HBO put out more scripted shows, I would dump network tv in a second.
Game of Thrones, Veep, and Girls all in a row. I was familiar with Game of Thrones, but new to the other two.
Fuck Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, Apprentice and Real Housewives!
I thought the same thing that it needs a few more eps to gel. I found I only laughed a few times and more likely was annoyed by the characters rather than amused. Good cast though but it needs to take it down a notch or two. I love the George Clooney look alike. Just saw him in something but to lazy to look it up.
THere was a VERY short-lived American TV series based on "In The Loop", which starred the guy from "Reaper".
I liked it, was interesting to see the behind the scenes throat cutting with an HBO treatment. Not something you'd ever see on network or even cable TV. I'll keep watching.
no, R16, there was no series based on the movie. There was a pilot for a US remake of The Thick of It by the guy that did Arrested Development which wasn't picked up. It was supposedly pretty bad.
Not so good, it didn't live up to the hype for me...
Sorry but she will always be Elaine Benes. She was brilliant in that part but it typecast her forever.
R19, that show was not based on the BBC show. It just has a similar name. You're an idiot.
I had no idea until I saw the credits that Anna clumsky of 'My girl' fame was in it
I thought it was very promising. And Anna Chlumsky was great.
I thought it was funny as Hell. And I've been lusting after Reid Scott ever since "My Boys."
I liked it. Maybe not as good as some of Iannucci's other projects, but good -- and promising.
One of those shows that telegraphs how "smart and sassy" it is. I was incredibly bored.
It's not as funny as it thinks it is. It seemed to go on forever. I'll check out another episode, though.
Is this supposed to be a comedy/drama?
I think the show is pretty brilliant. Especially episode 2 where she gets to be President for 15 minutes. Priceless. And JLD is fucking awesome.
I agree, r31. I loved the bit about the "real" dog last night. I've seen "In the Loop" and just started watching "The Thick of It" on BBCAmerica and think Armando Iannucci is a genius.
This show gets better every week. I really enjoy it.
Horrible and unwatchable, what a mess! This show can't survive.
I wasn't impressed with the first episode much. I'll wait to see what the buzz is on it as the season progresses to determine if I give it another shot.
Reid Scott is gorgeous, and the show is very clever, but it's always a problem for me when you've got a show where every character is hateful. Hollywood loves shows like this, but I tire of them quickly. If I wanted to be around hateful people all the time I'd work in Hollywood myself.
I've watched the first two episodes, and I've found myself consistently laughing out loud, which isn't something I do that often with comedy on TV.
I also found myself really intrigued by the preview they showed of "The Newsroom," although that's tempered a bit by my ever-worsening tolerance for Aaron Sorkin's speechifying.
The Voice of the Night
episode 4 was better...
"Did the President call?"
I think this show is really funny and deserves much more attention than the dreadful "Girls".
Amy: You have put this entire office into a salad-spinner of fuck!
I really like it. It's on my must watch list for Sunday. So she's pregnant?
This show is fucking laugh out loud funny. Everyone is brilliant. And Dan is FUCKING HOT!!
Reid Scott is going to be a huge star. I know him. Tall, big feet, huge bulge, really smart. Looks bettr with messy hair. Stikes me as bi.
Holy cow! Saw epps one & two - and liked em - missed a couple, then saw five & six last night - so fast & funny!
Loved JLD saying that listening to the advice of the tall doofus guy was 'like using a croissant as a dildo - it doesn't work & is extremely messy' (have paraphrased slightly!)
I want more!!!
It's a brilliant show.
This show is laugh-out-loud funny. I do hope its been renewed by HBO. Anyone hear ?
