Who was Dominick Dunne dating at his death?
His son mentioned that his father came out as bisexual in his later years and had a manfriend. But who was it?
- He claimed to be a long time celibate.
- Rip Taylor
- Some guy named Benjamin Maisani.
- He was a BIG NAME and someone EVERYONE would know who attended ALL THE PARTIES and who GORE VIDAL would just have spit over in jealousy and JACKIE and BROOKE and PAUL and JOANNE and NICOLE and MY DEAD MURDERED DAUGHTER would have loved because OJ DID IT.

- What strength cialis would it take for you to have been able to get it up for that repulsive ancient blob? Gross. Even when he was young he was not attractive.
- He was devoted to his former wife.
- The butler.
- He was serviced by a succession of masseurs.
They are all remembered in his will. He left them all his dildoes.
- "Why is it that Irish Catholics are always such social climbers? Do you suppose it's because their mothers were all chambermaids?... (PAUSE) ...oh, I don't mean you... "

- Will someone please tell the truth?
- Dunne's father was a very successful doctor so I doubt his mother was ever a maid. Those two vile old queens just couldn't stand each other because they were both playing the same game.
- Yeah r11 but they all still suffered from a lack of cultural confidence. This may have been the internal whip that drove the family to success, but it was still a whip, and it still was internal.
- [quote]He was devoted to his former wife.
If his wife, Lenny, hadn't been a wealthy heiress DD wouldn't have given her the time of day. He was the typical social climbing self-loathing closet case.
- What r13 said.
- Nancy Reagan. They practiced a casket dance tango at Arthur Murray for the longest time.

- In the book Dropped Names by Frank Langella, he mentions about seeing Dominick two days before he died. It makes for fascinating reading to everyone that could never get enough of Dominick's Vanity Fair columns.
- He didn't date anybody. Instead, he would wrap invitations to summer social events in the Hamptons around his cock and masturbate himself raw.
- OP, have you seen the documentary about him, "After the Party"?
- As per R16, in Langella's (incredibly self-serving) book, the only people at DD's bedside at his death were son Griffin, sister-in-law Joan Didion, Langella (who claims to be totally straight but methinks the lady doth protest waaay tooo much), and STEPHEN SONDHEIM, who told Langella he was an "old, old friend". Yes, but how close?
Would it surprise anyone if Sondheim and Dunne had once been lovers, back in their 1960s primes?

- Dunne was an old fug. Any date he had in the last 20 years would be paid for.
- Poltergeist starring Dominick Dunne is on TCM tonight
- Friends, perhaps, R19, but I doubt they were lovers. This was still the age of "trade" vs lovers for someone as closeted as DD. I doubt he actually had much gay sex in his life.
For all his talents (and he was talented) and ambition (which was endless), I think DD had a really crappy, unhappy gay life.
- Langella would make a great Gore Vidal if anyone were interested in such a portrayal.
FWIW my BH esthetician asked me about Dunne being gay and I responded "why, who is interested in fucking him?" That was about 15 years ago.
- Dunne purchased the house next to the house I grew up in, in Old Lyme, Ct. My parents, who still live there, say he lived alone.
The house has been sold.
- I love his books, they are a great beach read.
- Dom is dead
Miss him, miss him
- Countess Helen
