- LOVE. The coffeeshop around the corner from me makes an amazing Nutella latte. Now I'm going to have to stop there tonight.
- Sounds delish. I just had two slices of 12-grain bread with Nutella spread on them, and it was really good.
- I love it!
- taste lik heaven
- Have you tried slices of sharp cheddar in your Nutella sandwich? *drool
- Love Nutella. When I was in college I was able to eat an entire jar in a day with no ill effects. How I long for my mid-eighties metabolism, especially since Costco carries it. It used to be expensive way back then. IIRC, it had A LOT of tropical oils in it. I hope that's changed
- "Everything you see I owe to Nutella"
- Sophia Loren (paraphrasing)
- Giada DeLaurentiis said on her show that when she was young, her mother used to have to get it imported from Italy to the US. Now, you can get it anywhere.
- Reminds me of the Ambassador and his exquisite taste:
http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3D4P-nZZkQqTc
- I'm kind of afraid to eat it. It's basically chocolate flavored Crisco.
- It's the Italian version of peanut butter. Hazelnuts are the peanuts.
- chocolate and HAZELNUT flavored Crisco, R10.
Yummers!
Nutella and banana crepes are proof of the existence of God. Better than an eight-inch-cock.
- It's canned chocolate frosting with a spritz of hazelnut flavoring.
- Nutella + banana + whipped cream on a waffle from one of the local food trucks in DC. (Yes, this is my own pic.)

- I loooove Nutella. Love it best with peanut butter on a sandwich cookie, actually.
And IIR, it's all natural and trans-fat free (at least the European version is). It was invented in Italy in the 40s (I think), when chocolate was scarce and hazelnuts were plentiful.
Aaaah!
- I just looked up the ingredients. Wow, they're still using palm oil.
http://www.nutellausa.com/ingredients.htm
- Nutella is my favorite spread.
- Careful, r16: the European Nutella recipe is different than the American one, or at least it used to be.
I assume that the US version is locally produced, and uses cheaper US products. It probably uses HFCS too...
- I like it but I was irked by those ads they released in the US trying to advertise their spread as a healthy snack alternative. Nutella is not health food.
- Rename this thread: "Food Fat People Love"
- No HFCS, R18. Sugar is the first ingredient. It is the American made (nutellaus website). I found a blog where some posters mentioned partially hydrogenated peanut (!!) oil, but i don't know where they got that ingredient.
- r14's hand looks fat!
-
[R14]'s hand looks fat!
Whatever, bitch.
- Love it. Nutella sandwich with a thin layer of butter. Death can be so delicious. It is one of those things I love to eat Saturday morning in front of the TV watching cartoons.
- Tsk!
Your thread would be shorter, OP, if you asked Who does NOT like it.
I don't think it's possible for anybody not to be delighted with it.
Unless there's an allergy?...
- I love to stage a scene where I put Nutella all over my boyfriend's ass cheeks and then lick it and let someone walk in and catch me in the act.
- Here are the ingredients in the German version:
Sugar, vegetable fat, hazelnuts (13 percent), low fat cacao, low fat milk powder (7.5 percent), German word: Emulgator (possible English translation: emulsifying agent?), (soya - or just soy?) lecithin, vanillin.
per portion (15 grams): 82 kcal / 4 percent GDA
- Oh, R20, but not everyone can be satiated by a scrumptious snack of lettuce leaves and water.
- I love it on those 7-11 cookies you get at the bakery!
Mittens
- What kind of vegetable, R27?
Is "palm" considered a vegetable oil?
- r30. The listed word is 'pflanzliches Fett' which I personally would have translated as 'plant based fat', but the online dictionary gave 'vegetable fat' as the right translation. I apologize for the confusion.
- When we were in Rome, we saw a large table of university students enjoying a pizza made with Nutella.
- it's pretty good as an ice cream topping.
- We ate it in France all the time on fresh croissants with french butter. It was heavenly and addictive.
-
Giada DeLaurentiis said on her show that when she was young, her mother used to have to get it imported from Italy to the US. Now, you can get it anywhere.
Does she pronounce it "nut-ella" or does she use some pronunciation that makes you want to punch her?
- LOL R35, fortunately, on the show I saw, she said it normally. However, she more than made up for it be overenunciating other words. GAH!!
- All my German friends seem to be crazy about Nutella, but I don't care much for it.
- It's pronounced Noo-tella, you fat, American bitches!
- Kiddie candy-food
- It's delicious, but the commercial touting it as a healthful alternative to peanut butter is laughably misleading.
Good%20on%20waffles%2C%20btw.
- Jarred candy spread
-
It's pronounced Noo-tella, you fat, American bitches!
I don't give a crap if I'm fat, dumbass.
- As we say in Squatamala: "Ees nassie."
- Why so cranky, r38? I think you need more Nutella in your diet.
- Love it on ciabatta bread.
- Wonderful on Graham crackers -- even better on shortbread cookies like Lorna Doones. Where was this stuff during the munchies of 1966?
And I recently saw a suggestion for using half Nutella & half peanut butter in standard peanut butter cookies, which I plan to try soon.
Divine stuff. I always get it at Costco so I'll be sure to have plenty on hand, but then I store it on an out-of-the-way shelf so that I can't easily get at it.
- Guys, seriously, try it on ice cream. Warm int up a bit or straight from the jar. One of the reasons I don't buy Nutella or ice cream..
(sigh)
The former Fatty McFatt MacFatterson, now no longer fat
- Apparently in Europe they don't need to disclose which plant the fat comes from, as if olive oil, palm oil and canola oil were all interchangeable.
- It's part of a healthy breakfast!
-- 11g fat, 21g sugar per serving.
TV%20Mom
- Nutella stopped using hydrogenated oil a couple of years ago. That's why I never bought it; I'm a label-reader.
It's still mostly sugar and fat, then hazelnuts, cocoa and crap like non-fat milk solids, soy lecithin and vanillin (instead of real vanilla).
Thanks but no thanks. I make my own because it tastes better and I can control what's in it.
http://foodwatch.com.au/additives-labels/nutella-the-full-correct-list-of-ingredients.html
- Less fat than peanut butter but far more sugar. It's candy in a jar.
- Food of the gods.
But I cannot have it in the house. Visions of myself as Goldie Hawn in her fatsuit in Death Becomes Her, scooping out and scarfing down great quantities of chocolate frosting...
Urgh!
Had never really felt that strongly about it till vacationing in Rome a couple of years ago. Corner coffee shop at breakfast time had the nest pain au chocolat/chocolate croissants I'd ever had - heavenly, buttery pastry! - and filled with nutella! OMG!!!
Then when i got home, next took a local beac vacation, and a pizza place there had dessert calzone - which I wasn't interested in - but the owner persuaded me to try - for it's 'secret ingredient' - which of course, turned out to be nutella - and it was crazy good!
But sooooo bad for you! Must. Stop. Thinking. About. It.
Europeans dont seem to consider food ingedients the same way as the rest of us. Had a couple of instances of being told that something patently wicked - like Italian hot chocolate (the stuff is like rocket fuel and so thick you can stand a spoon in it!) - and some Danish berry-based dessert thing (sugar, sugar, sugar - some arrowroot - and more sugar) - were 'really good for you' because they were 'full of minerals' - !!! WTF? Delusional.
- Thanks, R31. If it's a plant based fat as you initially translated then it could be palm oil. I'm going to check jars at a couple of specialty/import grocery stores here to see if it's specified.
- I hate how the commercials totally downplay that it's a chocolate spread. They say that it's a Hazelnut spread made with skim milk and just a HINT of cocoa. If it's just a hint, then why is the whole jar dark brown like chocolate?
- When I was a kid, I ate a whole jar and ended up with diarrhea.
- ...did it smell like Nutella?
- I'm not sure since I courtesy flush.
- Has anyone tried the Trader Joe's version?
-
I hate how the commercials totally downplay that it's a chocolate spread. They say that it's a Hazelnut spread made with skim milk and just a HINT of cocoa.
The TV commercial makes it sound like it's a nutritious, natural food that fraus should serve their kids every morning for breakfast.
http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DThIrw_LpuRA
- A commercial that doesn't tell you that the product will make you fat???? The nerve of those involved!!!!!
- In Europe it's a breakfast staple.
It%27s%20basically%20delicious%20hazelnut%20frosting
- Hazelnut frosting? Why do people always forget that it's chocolate? When I eat a Snickers, I don't say I'm eating peanuts.
- There are offbrand versions at Trader Joe's and World Market but stick w/the original.
- I bake a chocolate/chocolate chip cake and use Nutella (actually the Shoprite brand imported from Italy and tastes better) as icing. Fucking Amazing!
- This thread prompted me to make a nutella toasty. A piece of whole grain bread spread with nutella, folded in half, the outsides lightly buttered then fried. Soooo good. I also like it on ice cream and on graham crackers, but I don't have any.
Ciaran
- I went to the cabinet after reading this and discovered we had an unopened jar.
I just ate it all, with a spoon.
(((burp))) excuse me!
- LOL, was it the 13 or 26 ounce jar R66?
- I'm not sure R67…I think I'm riding a little Nutella buzz right now…
Wheee!
- Nutella breakfast bump. This discussion is NOT played out.
- Take a tube of crescent rolls & separate the dough into 8 triangles -- slit each triangle in half lengthwise, so you have 16 little triangles.
Spread Nutella lightly over each little triangle.
Sprinkle finely ground pecans over the Nutella & lightly press down.
Roll each little triangle up from the wide end (not too tightly, not too loosely) & curve each roll slightly into a crescent.
Place on baking sheet lined with parchment paper, 2" apart.
Bake at 375 for 12-15 minutes, til light brown.
Cool slightly on racks & serve warm (but not hot) -- or cool completely, store covered, & serve at room temperature.
- No - it's too TOO much.
- Trader Joe's had an almond/chocolate spread, but I didn't buy it. Has anyone tried it?
Ciaran
- I have to tell you, I had my first taste of crepes with Nutella in Paris in 2009. People are lining up for it on the sidewalks and I was just curious so I lined up for it and OMG it tasted soooo gooood! To this day, it's still part of my breakfast with bagels.
- Nut Ella -- is that like Rollerina?
Nutella? Is that the creamy white stuff that tastes the same but different depending on the "spout"?
- I'm thinking of having a spoonful...
- I make my own. It tastes a lot better than Nutella and I can tweak the ingredients to my own taste. David Lebovitz has a great recipe that you can find online.
- Nutella Lawsuit: Ferrero Settles Class-Action Suit Over Health Claims For $3 Million

- Never could stand it. And don't understand why anyone likes it.
- My bad, I thought this thread was gonna be about safe, semi-nutritious alternatives to scat.

- After reading this thread, I bought some yesterday. I'll finish it but won't buy it again.
- When I was a kid, the Nutella commercials that ran here in Canada pronounced it as "Nut-tella".
Now they pronounce it "Noo-tella".
Which one's right?
- I say "Noo-tella", but I guess it could be pronounced either way.
- I find a teaspoon of nutella is the only thing that makes oatmeal palatable. You just mix it in.
- The class action lawsuit is funny. Someone actually sincerely believed the advertising claims. Why didn't she read the label at the store? Stupid twat.
- I don't say this very often - but it's TOO sweet - almost sickening.
- [bold] Nutella to Pay Up After Lawsuit Questions Nutritional Value [/bold]
SAN DIEGO (KTLA) -- Italian confectioner Ferrero, maker of Nutella, must pay out over $3 million to consumers as part of the settlement of a class-action lawsuit that claims the nutty spread has little nutritional value.
The lawsuit was filed last year by San Diego mother Athena Hohenberg, alleging that Nutella was being marketed as something "healthier than it actually is," according to court documents.
Ads for the treat promote it as part of a "tasty yet balanced breakfast" when combined with milk, orange juice and whole wheat bread.
The main ingredients list sugar, palm oil, cocoa, hazelnuts and skimmed milk and it packs in 200 calories and 11 grams of fat per 2 tablespoons.
Ferrero issued a statement Sunday saying it stands by its product and its decision to settle the lawsuit is in the "best interest of the company."
The company has also agreed to change its marketing campaign and will give more space on the jar for its nutrition label.
Consumers who purchased Nutella in California or any other state between January 2008 and Feb. 3 are entitled to receive a refund, up to $4.
http://www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktla-nutella-lawsuit%2C0%2C3853080.story
- The lawsuit is idiotic. Neither the label nor the TV ad says that Nutella is "healthy" or even "nutritious" -- the label clearly states the amount of calories, fat, & sugar -- the TV ad just says (twice) that kids love the way it tastes. If the plaintiff interpreted that info to mean "healthy", she's too stupid to be allowed to raise a child.
How did she & the class action lawyer happen to meet, anyhow?
- Maybe she's one of theose "consumer advocates" who make a career out of suing companies and establishments.
- The lawsuit is for $4 million. $2.5 million is to be refunded to people. So does this lady get the other $1.5 million?
-
The lawsuit is for $4 million. $2.5 million is to be refunded to people. So does this lady get the other $1.5 million?
No that likely goes to the attorneys.
- How much does the stupid mom get?
- I read somewhere on a safer-sex leaflet that Nutella or peanut butter are a safe and realistic alternative to scat.
Url
- I'm waiting for chunky. Chunky hazelnuts. MMMMMM
- The mother who filed the suit is stupid, but that's no excuse for Nutella's deceptive ads. "The dumb cunt should have realized that the ad is full of shit and should have read the label" isn't exactly a strong argument on the company's behalf. Can you imagine Snickers or Three Musketeers trying to advertise their candy bars as an ideal breakfast food for kids? Because that's basically what Nutella was trying to do.
- But Snickers does advertise itself as a hearty meal replacement. And Cocoa Puffs and Lucky Charms advertise themselves as part of a healthy breakfast too. So does Pop Tarts and those are sweeter and worse for you than Nutella. Should they all be sued too? If I bring the suit, would I get $1.5 million to share between myself and my lawyers?
- A serving of Nutella has more fat and sugar than a Frosted Chocolate Fudge Pop Tart.
-
And Cocoa Puffs and Lucky Charms advertise themselves as part of a healthy breakfast too. So does Pop Tarts and those are sweeter and worse for you than Nutella
Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms, and Pop Tarts may not be health food, but they all have more nutrients than Nutella.
- Wasn't there a case where it was successfully claimed that Coke can be advertised as nutritious because the majority of a coke is water?
- If Circus Peanuts can be on page 1, so can Nutella. Bump.
- Used to love it, but now that they sell Biscoff Spread at my local CVS, I've happily given it up. Biscoff is less cloying, and lower in fat AND carbs than Nutella. Biscoff is imported from Belgium.

Nut Ella...
- Nutella is everywhere.
- I get hungry every time one of the Nutella threads shows up. It's the only food thread that gets to me, though I don't go out and grab a Nutella snack.
- My mother, who usually never goes in the kitchen, bought a pound cake, a jar of Nutella, and Cool Whip. She sliced the cake into three layers and used Nutella and Cool Whip as filling. I love her.
-
a jar of Nutella, and Cool Whip
that sounds awful
- How many Nutella threads are there now?
- Strange that the unhinged misogynist "anyone who likes something I don't is a shill!" troll hasn't puked all over THIS thread...
- Trader Joes sells something similar and it's DELISH on rice cakes. DELISH!
- I got me some NUGTELLA. It's Nutella with medical marijuana.

- Ive never had it and Im scared to try it. I love sweets and I think it will lead me down a dark road of Nutella addiction: Nutella with breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- The first two ingredients are sugar and palm oil. THEN hazelnuts. They should call it a "sugar and oil" spread instead.
