Mitt Romney is completely unprincipled and will say any position if it is what his audience wants to hear. You shouldn't trust, or care, about a word he says.
he is a mormon.
no he won't
Let's see how this plays with the Far Right base.
"In 2012, Grenell penned an op-ed in the Washington Blade criticizing LGBT equality organizations for failing to hold President Obama accountable for his reluctance to embrace marriage equality."
No doubt Mittens has provided Grinnell with pointers on how to waffle when dealing with his own hypocricy.
Of course, Santorum had a gay chief of staff too when he was a senator, one of those people who said "I support his stands on a variety of issues, even if we disagree on one or two others."
Romney is a bigoted Mormon douchebag. He'll never support gay rights. He supported gay rights in '94 when he ran and lost against Teddy Kennedy for Senate.
As governor, same-sex marriage passed under Romney's watch in Massachusetts, and he did everything he could to undermine it--even after the bill was passed by the legislature. The bill did not need Romney's signature.
After the bill passed, Romney even dragged up an outdated, obsolete 1913 law about residency to prevent same-sex marriage from gong forward. Much of Romney's motivation to thwart the law was because it was rumored that he would begin his campaign for president in 2007, and he didn't want to be associated with anything gay on the national satge. And the one of the main reasons that Romney was not going to run for reelection for governor was that he had become very unpopular--and he he had run for reelection, he would have lost. He left in 2006 after one term as governor.
As soon as Romney left office, the MA legislature overturned Romney's lame residency attempt to prevent same-sex marriage.
[quote] Will Mitt Romney come out for gay rights
NEVER!!!! He will do everything in his power to take away the few rights we have. Expect DADT to go back online in the DoD. He will attempt a Constitutional amendment to forbid same-sex marriage.
Op you are gullible/
OP, a Mormon president would equal a reign of terror against gay Americans including a federal antigay marriage amendment and new sodomy laws to replace those invalidated in 2003.
F&F the OP for his Romney trolling.
Gays would be banned from the military.
Don't you know anything OP? They will hire closeted gays for the campaign - because these are unemployable, available people - but when time comes for permanent staff, substantially none of the campaign people will have any role.
Romney can't be trusted on anything, period.
The only thing Mitt Romney will come out is support of, is the re-criminalization of homosexuality.
It is only been decriminalized in the USA for 9 years now (Since 2003). That is not very long.
Romney won't even support the end of DADT or gays serving openly in the military. Until he at least does that, one can't be sure of anything, OP.
OP, have I got an investment program for you! You'll make millions!
No, OP, he never will. He's Mormon and actively anti-gay.
You should be ashamed at yourself for being so stupid as to even think this is a remote possibility. And even worse, you seem excited about the potential of a Romney Presidency, which would be an utter disaster for this country.
Romney was all for gays, and actually has a better track record than Obama when it comes to gay rights.
The problem with Mitt is, he'll do whatever he has to do in order to win, even if that means throwing people under the bus.
Mitt's gay ads catering to the LGBT community, is just one of the reasons the Right can't stand him.
It reminds me of Obama, who came out and said that the signature on the sheet with him declaring his support for marriage equality was a fake.
Politicians are politicians.
There are so many gays and women that want to fuck Romney over Obama. Sex appeal worked in 2008. The public is that shallow.
Then you have white America who wants darkie out of the White House at any cost.
The economy is what's going to sink Obama.
[quote]The only thing Mitt Romney will come out is support of, is the re-criminalization of homosexuality.
[quote]OP, a Mormon president would equal a reign of terror against gay Americans including a federal antigay marriage amendment and new sodomy laws to replace those invalidated in 2003.
Yeah, okay Chicken Little. If any of that was going to happen, it would have happened under Bush. If the Right doesn't take the Senate, this would never pass anyway.
OP, you're a rather desperate attention-seeking whore.
I'm NOT excited, r14.
I'm trying to make the best of a worse case scenario, and hoping the asshole will be more moderate, and not as conservative.
[quote]Romney was all for gays, and actually has a better track record than Obama when it comes to gay rights.
No, he emphatically does not.
You're a fucking idiot.
Did Obama back Prop 8 in California? Does Obama support NOM? No! QUITE the opposite!
Romney supports and contributes to BOTH.
Fuck off you fucking asshole moron, R15.
Someone is a big Romney fan, and Roney had his chance along time agao and he turned his back to the gay community. He loathes gays and gay rights. Wants to defend DOMA, bring back dadt. Is against civil unions and anti discrimination for GLBt people. So OP be dumb and vote for him and if he is elected don't expect to have any legal rights as a gay man.
But R17, he's SEVERELY Conservative! He's said so himself!
OP, at CPAC this year Romney told the crowd that he prevented MA from becoming the gay Las Vegas.
Does that sound supportive to you?
[quote]I'm trying to make the best of a worse case scenario, and hoping the asshole will be more moderate, and not as conservative.
I didn't think you could seem more stupid, OP/R17, until you wrote that.
And the pandering begins. Still wouldn't make me vote for him.
Grenell is remotely cute-ish. Douchebag, though, for voting against his own interests and those of his community.
He has signed that insane pledge which seeks to reinstate DADT and pass an amendment banning gay marriage, as well as prosecute DOMA. He supports "personhood" which would not only ban abortion, but end hormonal birth control, like the pill. I have no idea if it's his religion or not, but I strongly suspect he will never be able to shed a lifetime of belief that marriage to a subservient woman (or women) and no birth controll is god's will. He is no friend to the LGBT community, people of color, or women. Check out the people at his rallies -- white, vacant, and wealthy -- hanging onto a myth of white hetero male supremacy with their rheumy grasping fingers. Enough already. This is the clash of two views: progression vs regression. Mad Men aside, it's not 1960; it's 2912, and I intend to fight.
Stupid gays go ahed and vote for anti gay president hopeful. No self respect.
Mitt Romney's gay rights flip flop:
When running for senate in 1994, Mitt Romney wrote a letter promising a gay Republican group he would be a stronger advocate for gay rights than Ted Kennedy. Romney was trying to get an endorsement from the Log Cabin Republicans. The letter said, "...as we seek to establish full equality for America's gay and lesbian citizens, I will provide more effective leadership than my opponent." Since that time, Romney has made it clear that he opposes gay marriage and he is trying to position himself as a conservative candidate for U.S. president, opposing most rights for gays and lesbians.
Federal Non-Discrimination for Gays and Lesbians:
When Mitt Romney ran for Senate in 1994, he favored a federal nondiscrimination law for gays and lesbians, but after his term as Massachusetts governor, he now says he no longer favors nondiscrimination laws for gays and lesbians at the federal level, only on the state level.
Pledging to Oppose Same-Sex Marriage:
Mitt Romney signed the same pledge Michelle Bachman and Rick Perry from the National Organization for Marriage that says he will support a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage, defend the Defense of Marriage Act in court and nominate anti-LGBT judges.
Mitt Romney on Gay Marriage:
Mitt Romney has opposed gay marriage since his state became the first in the U.S. to legalize gay marriage. He said, "I believe that the family is the foundation of America - and that it needs to be protected and strengthened."
He told a group of republican women, "Every child in America deserves a mom and a dad. We've got to have marriage before we have babies if we're going to have parental involvement in our schools."
Mitt Romney is against Civil Unions:
When asked by Chris Matthews of MSNBC about what he thinks the difference between marriage and civil unions is, Romney said, "Well, I would rather have neither, to tell you the truth. I'd rather that domestic partner benefits, such as hospital - hospital visitation rights for same-sex couples. I don't want civil unions or gay marriage." He continued, "I'm going to want to see a marriage limited to a man and a woman. I don't want to see civil union either. Of course, if we find ourselves in a setting where the only choice is between civil union and marriage, I will prefer civil union. But I would prefer neither."
Mitt Romney on Hate Crimes:
Mitt Romney opposes sexual orientation and transgender-inclusive hate crimes laws. According to the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force he vetoed a bill funding hate crimes prevention in 2003.
Is Mitt Romney less conservative than he was in 2008?:
When Mitt Romney ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, he touted himself as the most socially conservative candidate. In 2011, it seems he may be toning things down a bit. In a June interview on CNN he said he is still opposed to gay marriage, but does support some gay rights, like equal rights in employment and that he had some gay members of his staff when he was governor. He said he appointed a couple of judges he later found out were gay.
When asked if, as a Mormon, he believed homosexuality was a sin, he said, "I separate quite distinctly matter of personal faith from the leadership that one has in a political sense."
Yeah he's for gay rights... idoits
r15 is DESPERATE to feel good about his vote for Romney in November!
Oops. Slapping my fingers: bad fingers, bad fingers.
@24 -- that's 2012. Or I'm truly methuselah. Sorry. Sometimes passion takes over.
This really comes down to which Presidential candidate hates Gays the least.
Neither Obama or Romney think Gay Americans deserve equal rights. But Romney DEFINITELY hates gays.... severely more than Obama, who just doesn't give a crap either way.
R17 doesn't get that Romney only pretended to like gays to win in Massachusetts. In these matters he takes his orders from Salt Lake City, and THEY hate us with the red hot passion that only 80 year old men who are not allowed to take Viagra can muster.
[quote]Neither Obama or Romney think Gay Americans deserve equal rights.
R28, you keep trotting out this OBVIOUS LIE, no matter how often it's clearly debunked. You're a fucking moron, and you need to just stop pushing this bizarre counter-factual agenda of yours.
[quote]Neither Obama or Romney think Gay Americans deserve equal rights.
Obama may drag his feet and continue to "evolve," and it doesn't always make us happy. But the two men don't even come close in comparison. With a Romney presidency, the gay community will be left out in the cold--and left out in the dark. Totally ignored. We would be lost in the wilderness for the next four to eight years if Romney were to be win and then be reelected.
And the ramifications could even be worse if Romney were able to advocate for and have laws passed against us because it would take years and years to undo his evilness. And heaven forbid if the Constitution were ever to be changed, it would be an utter disaster for gays.
Don't fucking even consider Romney. And don't lull yourself into some kind of false sense of resignation by thinking, "Well, Romney wouldn't be that bad." He is worse than bad. Romney is evil and dangerous, and he would set us back into the 1950s.
Let's move forward with Obama. His evolution will get there with further pushing. But with Romney, we'd be up against a brick wall for years to come.
No that statement is true R30, but Romney is still far worse than Obama. How much money did he donate to Prop 8? I think it was at least tens of thousands of dollars.
Since gay rights are much more than the issue of marriage, what is it that Obama is not doing for gay rights that's annoying you so much? I'm talking about things that are within his power to change.
Don't talk to me LIKE THAT...Bitch!
Obama is the most pro-gay US President ever.
Romney signed NOM's anti-gay pledge which includes support for DOMA, DADT and an anti-gay Constitutional Amendment.
The difference could not be more stark.
"Well, he's always been nice to ME..." - Hitler's gay friend
No, R33, the statement is patently false. You're an idiot if you think there's even a kernel of truth in it.
"I'm sure Mitt isn't really anti-gay."
He'll just strap Grennell to the roof of his car on his next foreign policy outing
It's pretty funny to see so many of you automatically decide for whom to vote depending on his perceived view on gays. It's as if you think all gays vote purely on the basis of their orientation.
I've got news for you - there are a lot of gay conservatives and gay Republicans. They are motivated by smaller government, lower taxes, and more jobs.
Romney's record in office is not homophobit (and neither was Dubya's). Not all gays support "marriage equality."
And the Mormon church apparently is re-thinking its anti-gay stance.
Obama is the one who said anything to get elected and then screwed up everything he touched. He doesn't deserve another term.
R41, putting aside the gay issue for the moment, why would you want to vote for a Party that has such a disastrous record on the economy and that crashed the entire country into a recession 4 years ago?
That's not true R41. Romney's record in office was highly homophobic, which actually came as a surprise to the idiots in Massachusetts who thought he wasn't a "real" Mormon. Not only is he a real Mormon, he's front and center why they are such violent homophobic assholes.
I have no doubt that he raped those sons of his growing up, look at the creepy way they act, and that's probably why his campaign is full of creepy pedos and closet cases.
Webmaster, please take out the trash at R41. Datalounge is liberal space. Freepers -- especially self-loathing faggot freepers like R41 -- are not welcome here. (P.S., R41: Daddy still hates you.)
[quote]I've got news for you - there are a lot of gay conservatives and gay Republicans.
They're fucking idiots, turncoats, traitors, morons, and gullible tools.
R43 is right that there are lots of closet cases working for Romney. Sheriff Babeau of Arizona is one, and Aaron Schock of Illinois is another. Mark Kirk as well.
[quote]They are motivated by smaller government, lower taxes, and more jobs.
Why the fuck would they vote Republican, then?
When was the last time a Republican President had a better record on jobs than a Democratic one?
When was the last time Republicans, when in power, actually shrank the size of government? (Meanwhile, there are fewer people working for the Federal government under Obama than under Dubbya).
You know when taxes were the lowest? Under Obama (with a Democratic House and Senate). Lower than under Dubbya.
So all your alleged "reasons" for voting Republican are actually null and void: When Republicans get in power, there are FEWER jobs, the deficit goes up FASTER, the size and power of government gets BIGGER...
Good points, R47.
I wish the mainstream media would point them out more often.
R41 is right. Not all gays are liberals or Democrats. Many are libertarian, and they don't like government control or invasion of privacy. And they sure as hell don't like paying taxes so a President can waste $500 million on his friends.
Y'all live in liberal dream land. But there are millions of gays in the heartland, and some of us don't vote like robots for any Democrat.
Who said or even intimated that liberal gays/lesbians automatically vote for Democratic candidates???
R49. And another self-loathing douchebag.
Don't like governemnt wasting money? So I guess you must have been pretty damn angry when the size of government ballooned under George W. Bush after he inherited a surplus. Or when Bush invaded Irag when there were no weapons of mass destruction and he ended up spending about $2 billion a week. Or when Dick Cheney's Haliburton company was awarded millions upon millions in government contracts?
And an invasion of privacy issue? I guess all of these anti-abortion restrcitions that have now become law under Repug governors across the country must be pissing you off no end?
Or does flip-flopping Romney just have some sort of vision for the country that only you see but that somehow he hasn't been able to articulate since he's been running for president for the past six years?
Or is it just the Democrats that get you angry?
Will one of you gay Republicans please respond to R47's points? Or are you all fact averse?
Oh yeah, smaller government. How's that smaller government vaginal probe legislation? How's that smaller government legislating that life begins at conception -- hence banning hormonal birth control? No, the more they want to legislate what goes on in the bedroom, the more government grows.
Reagan raised taxes 12 times and doubled the size of the federal government. And put up the largest deficit until those 8 fabulous years of GWBush and the small small small wars waged for nothing but oil. And how's that working for anyone? Small billions just flushed down the drain.
[quote]and they don't like government control or invasion of privacy
So they prefer corporate control, and an even WORSE invasion of privacy? Because that's what voting Republican will get you...
R49, I refer you back to R47.
[quote]And they sure as hell don't like paying taxes so a President can waste $500 million on his friends.
You prefer Republicans like Dubbya, who wasted two TRILLION on his friends?? Jesus, do you even listen to yourself?
You live in a conservative bubble of denial and delusion called bizarre world.
You as a gay person LOSE every time you vote Republican. You was a HUMAN BEING AND AMERICAN CITIZEN lose every time you vote Republican.
What the fuck is your excuse for doing something so goddamned stupid and self-destructive?
[quote]Or are you all fact averse?
Republicans and conservatives ignore facts. They make up their own, because REAL facts all have a "liberal bias" according to them.
They cherry-pick, distort, spin, and make shit up in order to validate their beliefs. They start with some bizarre belief and then make up shit to support it. Sort of the exact opposite of what sane and rational people do.
I'm afraid you're right, R55. Which is why Republicans, according to polls, are so distrustful of science now. Science doesn't conform to their cherry-picked, made-up shit and so they have to distrust it.
The guy is gay and Republican. What a flaming asshole!
People really do not understand Mittens. You really, really don't, else why ask, or hope that he will be "gay friendly."
Mitt Romney isn't "just" a Mormon. He is a high official in the Mormon church organization. He is a dedicated, committed Mormon. He proselytizes. He camaigns relentlessly for his point of view. He is unchangeable. Think Rick Santorum onlymoreso & Mormon.
Mitt's been a Mormon alllll his life. It's hardwired into his brain. The same way people talk about Scientology, and how cultish and strange they are, just watch Romney for a while and you see the strange, evangelical quality in him. That determined positivity. The answer to your question, OP, is HELL NO!
But really, Obama is the best President we have ever had when it comes to being Gay friendly, and Gay Rights oriented. And I am convinced he will do even more if he gets a second term. And he gets a Congress he can work with.
BTW: Try to keep up. Karl Rove has been talking to Jeb, who has now said he might be willing to be Romney's running mate. The game plan is to run My Dog Skip, or in this case Mitt, it really doesn't matter who.
The plan is to get voters to vote against Obama. To make voters unhappy, uneasy, angry, frightened, etc. and focus all that negative energy and attention on Obama. Mittens only needs to appear affable. If he wins fine. If not, Jebby will be in position for 2016.
Four years isn't such a long time. We can still remember how terrible it was, that we, as a country were on the brink of disaster, staring into the abyss.
We've come a long way,but we have a long way to go to make this economy strong again. We aren't out of the woods yet. We can't take another Republican administration.
All the evil people who got us in the hole, all the bad guys are still out there. Some people will insist that Obama's election was a fluke. They say he would've never got elected if the economy hadn't tanked.
That's not true. Pailin & McCain scared the crap out of most rational people. We can still remember what it was like to have an election stolen, and all the terrible bad things that happened to us as a result of letting those rotten assholes track their dirt into our house. A Romney Presidency is unthinkable. Wake up.
I believe he signed the Tea Party Pledge agreeing to among other things not only support but make it a priority to pass an Amendment to the Constitution banning same sex marriage. This pledge also included making it a priority to ban legal abortions. He has already stated publicly that an VP would have to be anti-abortion - saying the same about same sex marriage can't be far behind.
What R58 said.
I am sure the GOP feels confident that another Bush can be elected president or vice president of the Unite States.
Voters, not so much.
"Jebby will be in position for 2016"
So will Hillary.
He deserves a chance, let's see what he can do.
He's made it quite clear what he'll do if given the chance. And it isn't nice.
why on earth does he "deserve" a chance?!
This thread reminds me of the Definition of Reaganomics: the theory that poor people will become rich by giving rich people more money.
Gay will never benefit from supporting anti-gay candidates.
Just remember. Right now, Rove and his men are going over every thing Romney said and did during the primary season. They've been re-watching debate performances, speeches, interviews, etc. EVERYTHING.
They're reviewing the "mistakes" that were made and polishing and fine tuning for the next three month period. They will have Romney test market certain themes. They will have him make "provocative" statements, all designed to get feedback from focus groups, etc.
They'll weigh every word and phrase, and decide what he wears, how he styles his hair, and how to use his wife and sons to good purpose. They have already started with her.
They'll package Romney for the safest most comforting image they can get, while they demonize Obama and hold him responsible for everthing including bad weather.
They'll court Hispanics in particular, and they'll play the race card. One dirty little secret they're aware of is,most Hispanics want to assimilate. They hate being lumped in with Blacks.
So yes, they'll mine the racism they find in the Latino Community, the homophobia they find in the Black, Hispanic and blue collar white community, and they'll optimize the antipathy they know exists toward women in all those communities as well.
This election will not be about Romney. It will not be about anything of substance. It will be soundbites and sloganeering. Demands for details will be dismissed. They will invent distractions to change the subject.
This election, according to Rove, will be about getting rid of Obama. "Who can best beat Obama?" The foundations of the campiagn will be rooted in racism, but the presentation will milk the general sense of dissatisfaction, otherness and fear they exploit so effectively.
They will lie, distort amd misdirect while they hold out false hopes and suggest he will govern differently then he runs his campaign. With Romney they will lull us.
Don't be a fool. The same people who brought us eight years of Bush complete with the appointments of Justices Alito and Roberts, are working to get Romney elected. Romney is a desperate whore and the people who are running him are soulless immoral, evil men.
So much for Romney coming out for gay rights! He's still pandering to the AFA crowd!
What does the Republican Party call a loyal gay Republican?
OP certainly looks like a fool now.
Wonder if he will return and admit he was wrong?
As soon as Romney takes the oath of office he plans to eliminate DOMA and approve same-sex marriage across the nation. We're lucky to have him in our corner.
His cult will never let him support gay rights.
He's the Mormon Messiah.
R73, OP only asked a reasonable question, he wasn't wrong about anything. Unfortunately, the GOP isn't remotely reasonable.
Don't defend the OP, R76.
His words speak for themselves.
I also hope Romney comes out for gay rights. How does that make the OP wrong?
I assume that at least one of his sons is gay.
It's NOT GOING TO HAPPEN, R78! What is wrong with you?!
He just fired a man because he is gay.
Do you really think he's going to become pro-gay?
No, Romney is for the guy who buys your company, fires half the workers, slashes benefits, sells off the assets and then runs off with the profits for himself and his buddies.
Let's see when Romney was governor he made every legal subterfuge and even illegal ones to stop gay marriage. Then he found a dormant law from 1913 to stop gays from other states from coming to Mass. to get married. If you think he is okay with gays and the $10,000 he gave to pass Prop. 8 was nothing, you are an idiot of high order.
The gays who are so desperate for GOP approval that they'll ignore all of the anti-gay legislation being passed by the Republicans across the country, are the same ones who shriek like assholes that Obama "hasn't done enough for gay." In the case of reichwing gays, I wish he wouldn't do a thing. Fuck them.
If Mitt wins at a time when the GOP is virulently anti-gay, what incentive would he have to be pro-gay, esp. when his only concern will be to win a second term?
Honestly, WTF is wrong with some of you? You're the equivalent of a dog being put in a crate atop a car going to Canada and claiming that you shit yourself out of enjoyment.
I feel President Romney will enchant us all by coming out not only for gay marriage, but gay plural marriage!
Are you crazy OP?????? Romney couldn't keep a gay man who worked for Bush for 8 years, hired for more than 2 weeks.
[quote] Honestly, WTF is wrong with some of you?
Well, that's the question! Republicans are HERE!
Memo to gay Republicans: I HOPE YOU'RE NOT SURPRISED. Bryan Lambert
Why does the GOP have problems getting women, black people, Latinos, atheists, and gays to vote for them? [A] Republican says Democrats have somehow hornswoggled these special interest groups into thinking the Democrats are on their side.
Everyone else says the Democrats have convinced Republicans to be openly hostile to those groups for four to five decades.
But gay Republicans have always been the most inexplicable. [T]here are a lot of racist Republicans, but you'll rarely get a GOP politician saying, openly and plainly, that there's something wrong with black people and therefore they deserve less than others. Except for Newt Gingrich, they all keep it coded.
But if you're gay and Republican, you have to somehow square your alleged belief in limited government with the fact that every single day, your party is actively working to make you go the fuck away.
And Rich Grenell is just the latest example. [He] is a horrible person, a fuckwit. A disciple of John Bolton, which I didn't think was a sentence that could actually be uttered in non-ironic fashion. . . .
Because Rich Grenell happens to be gay. I guess Grenell figured that, if he just stuck to foreign policy, and went after Obama on the basic level of neo-con red meat he learned at the feet of the Rabid Walrus, he'd be accepted by the relatively sane, pseudo-intellectual wonk wing of the GOP. Guess how that worked out? Who made it impossible for him to spout neo-con bullshit on cable news?
Here's a hint. The hyper-partisans led by the worst person on the entire planet, a man who Mitt Romney is clearly unwilling to stand up to in the slightest. ACTUAL QUOTE TIME!
"In fact, the homosexual agenda represents the single greatest threat to religious liberty and association in America today. My complaint about Governor Romney all the way along is not that he’s Mormon, but he’s not Mormon enough. The Mormon Church believes homosexual behavior is sinful and that homosexual acts are offensive to God. So the question that needs to be asked of Governor Romney, do you agree with the teaching of your Church? If you do — that homosexual acts are offensive to God — then why have you made the face of your campaign someone who engages in conduct that your own Church says is offensive to God?” - Bryan Fischer, wasting precious oxygen on his daily show.
The Romney campaign has said the decision to quit was Grenell's, and that they didn't want him to go, but by all accounts, not only did they not say shit publicly telling Bryan Fischer to go fuck himself, they kept Grenell, if you'll pardon the expression, on the down low. He wasn't out there, again, if you'll pardon the expression, like all the other spokesmen. He was denied his basic human right to lie about Obama on cable news because of his sexual orientation.
If you think, by the way, that this would be the case that led gay Republicans to realize that maybe, just maybe, there will never be a place for them in the allegedly modern GOP, well, you've never paid any attention to the Log Cabin Republicans:
"Ric was essentially hounded by the far right and far left. The Romney campaign has lost a well-known advocate of conservative ideas and a talented spokesman, and I am certain he will remain an active voice for a confident U.S. foreign policy.” - the official statement of the Log Cabin Republicans.
That's true, for a very loose definition of the word "essentially". To the extent that the far left "hounded" him, they "hounded" him for a bunch of inflammatory bullshit neocon rhetoric.
The far right hounded him BECAUSE HE WAS GAY. Grenell didn't resign because he had to delete nearly a thousand tweets and posts, he resigned BECAUSE HE WAS GAY. So, if the Romney campaign lost a talented spokesman, guess what, dickheads? The far left had nothing to do with it. The people you're fighting to keep in power had everything to do with it.
Good thing your capacity for self-delusion is tied so closely to the tax cuts you get, eh?
How fucking dumb do you have to be to look to Mitt Romney as a gay rights advocate?
W&W for R88.
To answer OP, I guess it would depend on which day you ask him, OP. But if that's not dependable enough for you, you might examine his track record, and the track record of his Mormon Church.
He is a high official with the church. His almost evangelical campaign is like missionary work to him and his family, I'm sure. Like going to Paris was back when he did missionary work there.
[quote]Romney was all for gays, and actually has a better track record than Obama when it comes to gay rights.
It's this sort of casual garbage from self loathing Log Cabinettes like r15 which guarantee America goes down the toilet.
The utterly casual delusion of people like R15 always shocks me. Such statements are so obviously and blatently false, you have to wonder how someone can make them with a straight face, and actually think they can get away with them.
It helps them cope, R91. Somehow.
[quote]"Ric was essentially hounded by the far right and far left. The Romney campaign has lost a well-known advocate of conservative ideas and a talented spokesman, and I am certain he will remain an active voice for a confident U.S. foreign policy.” - the official statement of the Log Cabin Republicans.
Oh! It was all those FAR LEFTIES who lost Grenell his job, oh, ok. I guess the Log Cabinettes feel that a lot of those German Jews FLUNG THEMSELVES into the ovens! It's the exact same argument!
I see that the Advocate has buried this story way down the page, but has a very important criminal trial about someone I've never heard of at the top.
Gay supporters of the Republican Party will rather die than admit that their active support is based on their greed and self loathing and their obsession with status, power, and wealth. They will try and tell you otherwise, but we all know every noble reason they bring up is just bullshit.
I want Grenell and his ilk to go into detail as to how the left cost him his job.
Not to defend Grenell, but for the sake of accuracy, from this report, it sounds as though he puts the blame right where it belongs, not on the left but on Romney -- Romney would not support him against people like Brian Fischer and Matthew Franck.
This comes from "Sources close to Grinell," but who else could it be from but the man himself?
Gay or straight; how could you trust a thing he says? Stick with Obama. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good!
Mitt Romney, loathes gays and gay rights. Stupid idea to think that OP. He wants to ban gay marriage, bring back dadt, against civil unions, against hate crimes being extended toward gays. Why? Because of his faith and because its acceptable to be a Republican and be ANTI gay.
Why are gay republicans so stupid?
This guy stinks!!
He's going on about how he employs gay people like white people say they have a black friend to prove their not racist....even when they are. Fuck him!!!
The OP of this thread should be forced to watch as hungry starving Muslim children are fed his entrails and when he finally dies we will stick his head on a pike at Seventh and Christopher as a warning to any other gays who intend to curry favor with genocidal Mormons.
why is gay rights, being black, hispanic and getting welfare all you people care about. Put the bull to the side and lets focus on the vulnerability of this country. The economy is gone and will probaly never be back. My two young boys has to grow up in this trashy liberal world thanks to yall.
