The Voice of the Night- David Geffen
The new CEO of Apple is gay, but a billionaire, I'm not sure.
- Is Paul Allen gay? And if he isn't, why do I think he is?
The Voice of the Night
- Queerty did an article yesterday on the wealthiest openly gay people. Link below.

- Nolan Ross. Thread closed.
- Tim Cook, the new CEO of Apple, is openly gay.
- One of the Gettys was.
People said one of the Koch family, now dead, was.
I believe Sid Richardson was (uncle to Perry Bass and source of the Bass Family fortune).

- During the late eighties and early 90s there were exactly two good fairies to the gay movement, neither a billionaire. James Hormel, scion of the Minnesota SPAM people and later Ambassador; and Alice Kleberg Reynolds, of the Texan King Ranch descendants. If there are rich gays now supporting things great, but somehow I don't think they are any more generous than they ever were, just more keen to pretend. When I read one of them lists "gay rights" as a favorite charity, I wonder just where all this money is, considering that every gay group in the country is flat broke. How come we never have enough money for ads in states where gay marriage is up for a vote, or even to work up a voter recall of Prop. 8? How come we unable to break conservative Democrats for their hold in most places? Why is it news when Larry Kramer leaves a million or two? If there are all these rich gays, shouldn't there be a gay think tank somewhere?
Shouldn't we be vetting and grooming Supreme Court nominees?
- Tim Cook isn't a billionaire.
The only OPENLY gay billionaires are David Geffen and Peter Thiel.
- R8 Please list openly gay multi-millionares then.
Poor gay in need of a rich husband
- What about one of the founders of Facebook? Can't recall his name.
- That's Chris Hughes, R10, and if he's a billionaire I'd be awfully surprised.
- Once Facebook goes public, he sure as hell will be.
- There is certainly a (very) gay Koch brother. Someone one described him: "You need to scrape him off the ceiling" apparently thinking along the lines of "light in the loafers."
His wikipedia entry:
Frederick Robinson Koch (born 1933) is an American collector and philanthropist, the eldest of the four sons born to American industrialist Fred C. Koch, founder of what is now Koch Industries, and Mary Robinson Koch. Unlike his father and brothers, all three of whom studied chemical engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and pursued business careers, Frederick studied humanities at Harvard College (B.A. 1955), following which he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving in Millington, near Memphis and then on the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga.
Upon return to civilian life Koch enrolled at the Yale School of Drama where his focus was playwriting and from which he received an M.F.A. degree in 1961.
Through personal and foundation acquisitions Koch assembled large and important collections of rare books and literary and musical manuscripts, fine and decorative arts and photographs, with works of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries predominating. His Frederick R. Koch Foundation is a major donor in New York to the Pierpont Morgan Library, and the Frick Collection and, in Pittsburgh, to the Carnegie Museum of Art. Of particular note are The Frederick R. Koch Collections at the Harvard Theater Collection, Houghton Library at Harvard University, and at Yale University's Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library that Yale president Richard C. Levin describes in the Beinecke's collection catalog as "one of the greatest collections to come to Yale since the year of its founding."
In 1986 Koch funded the full reconstruction of the Royal Shakespeare Company's Swan Theater in England, from its 1879 remains. In 1990, according to the New York Times, the Frederick Koch Foundation auctioned at Christie's the original manuscript of Vile Bodies by Evelyn Waugh, along with 150 other books and manuscripts by Oscar Wilde, Somerset Maugham, A.A. Milne, and others. The Waugh manuscript was said to be the last manuscript by the writer still in private hands. Koch also owns among his private collections the archival estate of George Platt Lynes and a vast archive of society photographer Jerome Zerbe.
Since the 1980s, Mr. Koch has bought, restored and maintained a number of historic properties in the United States of America and abroad, including a Woolworth mansion in Manhattan; the Habsburg hunting lodge, Schloss Blühnbach (near Salzburg),; the Romanesque Villa Torre Clementina in Cap Martin, France and Elm Court, a Tudor Gothic manse in Butler, Pennsylvania. In 2005 Koch sold Sutton Place near Guildford (Surrey, England), the former residence of J. Paul Getty and the legendary meeting place of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn (purchased from another art collector, Stanley Seeger which Koch restored and operated as the Sutton Place Foundation, open to the public, for more than 25 years.
Koch served for many years on the boards of directors of the Spoleto Festival and The Royal Shakespeare Company, and remains an active, long-serving board member of the Metropolitan Opera and the Film Society at Lincoln Center.
- Facebook may valued at $100 billion. As a founder, he probably owns more than 1%.
In any case he's on the very top of my most eligible list for obvious reasons.

He's engaged. He's with Sean Eldridge from Freedom to Marry.

- Poor innocent, naive The Voice of the Night.
- Tim Gill is a vastly wealthy software (desktop publishing) magnate. His Gill Foundation supports many gay causes. He recently moved to a humongous old estate in Denver and has a very cute twink boyfriend. And he is a very nice unpretentious guy.

- Interesting list at R3.
A little surprising to see designer Michael Kors included, when Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, and Tom Ford are not.
Nor are DL faves Anderson Cooper or Andy Cohen.
- R17, according to your link, Tim Gill has a husband, Scott Miller, not a bf.
lucky%20Scott%20Miller
- There is openly gay -- that is openly gay to their social group and business class which, if they are billionaires, is mostly invisible to the rest of us, and then there is publicly gay which, if they are billionaires, they got that way leading public lives in which the gay part may or may not have shared.
- [quote]Tim Gill has a husband, Scott Miller, not a bf.
Colorado's constitution bans same-sex marriage so he's not 'married' in that state. There is a domestic partnership type arrangement in CO but it is not equal to marriage. But, yes his partner is lucky. I think he set up the last one in a business.

- Malcolm Forbes was a gay billionaire, but an evil one, on the wrong side of every thing and one of our greatest enemies of all time, as well a particularly disgusting and depraved sexual predator.
So why hasn't Mr. Fred Koch done anything about the evil his brothers are doing to this country? Is he a rethuglicunt too?
And what of Dr. Iris Love (born Peggy Guggenheim)? Isn't she supposed to be a big dyke? Abby Rockefeller was a big lesbian too as I recall.
The rich gays in America in general include many rotten disgusting shitheads. No better than that gay Krupp who killed himself in Ischia in 1902.
- Of course, it isn't just a problem for gays. Women and blacks who are rich involve an impressive collection of lowlifes and traitors too. It seems to be part of the minority experience that your rich will be off the charts evil, as a general rule.
- Not to my knowledge.
Oprah
- Chris Hughes is not a billionaire, and he won't be win Facebook goes public. He owns a barely 1% stake in the company, and his fiancé already has him spending like there's no tomorrow. Jumo was a money loser and Freedom to Marry suffers from the same affliction as HRC (too many champagne benefits, not enough ground work).
He's probably worth $500M, but only on paper.
- I wish I could marry an attractive one, one whom I'd fall in love with.
Tonight, he'd say, for example, "let's fly to Paris" or "how about we stay in and I bang your brains out?"
Either would be fine.
But it would be nice not to have to worry about auto repairs, a new fridge, retirement, cell phone bills, etc.
- I know a lot of damn rich people and I can't think of one of them that is in a traditional, happy, long-term relationship/marriage. I just spent a week with someone who could make the list, and if he ever gets off his ass and something great with his money he will, and he's a barrel of neuroses who drives his boyfriend crazy with his jealousy and rants. I like him. But I don't have to live with him. Another guy lives south of the highway in Water Mill, has the Rolls convertible and rare Benz, nice guy. But I've never seen him in a serious relationship. Their boyfriends work for every cent that comes their way, whether it's in the sack or working as a "personal assistant."
- Tim Gill also has a huge dick.
- O

- Just because Colorado doesn't recognize marriage between two men doesn't mean they aren't married, R21.
If two men who were married in Massachusetts moved to Oklahoma, where the state doesn't recognize their marriage and doesn't even have domestic partnerships, they would still be married.
Their marriage may not be recognized by the state they live in, but neither does their marriage automatically dissolve when they cross state lines.
I know there are murky legal issues, like the two married California women who moved to Maryland and then wanted the state to grant them a divorce, but if they had a legal marriage ceremony, they're married, regardless whether some bigoted state government recognizes it.
- There's Fred Hochberg, the heir to the Lillian Vernon catalog fortune.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Hochberg
- No they aren't real gays. They are nerdy guys who can't get women so they have to turn gay.
Real gays spend all their money on the AIDS medicines

- I'd be ok with being one billionaire's Patsy Stone to his Eddie Monsoon self.
- David Koch supports gay marriage! He supports it politically and financially.
- So the straight Koch brothers scheme to plunge this country into a nightmare of rightwing violetn antigay dictatorship, and the gay Kochs flit about collecting antiques. No, there has to be more to it than that. It is too unflattering and stereotypical a picture of gay triviality. Something else is going on here, something within the Koch family.
- David is the one who supports NOVA on public t.v. too.
- David and Charles are the evil Koch brothers plotting to destroy America.
David, Fred, and William have all been said to be gay.
So it appears the whole linchpin of the whole operation has to be David. He has to be a gay punk would be tyrant and dictator, the Roy Cohn of the present generation.
- Wow. Portrait of an Evil Gay.
David Koch was the libertarian vice-presidential candidate running with Ed Clark in 1980.
"The Clark–Koch ticket promising to abolish Social Security, the Federal Reserve Board, welfare, minimum-wage laws, corporate taxes, all price supports and subsidies for agriculture and business, and U.S. Federal agencies including the SEC, EPA, ICC, FTC, OSHA, FBI, CIA, and DOE"
After the election, "Koch viewed politicians as 'actors playing out a script.'"
He has given so much money to Deerfield Academy that he is the only "Lifetime Trustee."

- i requested this thread Op ..thanks for creating it
so apparently from the queerty list the richest billionaire is the geffen guy worth 5.5 billion
so we have no openly gay /bisexual people over 10billion
- Sadly this fuck is richer than Geffen, apparently.
http://job-before-success.blogspot.com/2008/10/david-h-koch.html
- If gigilos weren't so expensive, there might be more gay billionaires.
- God, R47, that link should come with a warning.
How does someone gay and that rich look sooo bad?
Hideous.
- wow so this geffen guy is very powerful is hollywood i assume ..
Its so strange to me how some of the most powerful and influential people in hollywood are Gay/bisexual yet hollywood is still a very homo phobic place..
i mean we have very powerful gay/bi Major studio owners like geffen ,tv successful tv show creators, studio exec , directors and producers and yet out gay actors can almost not get any good roles almost anywhere in that industry..be it film or tv no matter how talented .
Yes its industry thats interested in maximizing profits so they want to be as appealing to middle america as much as possible but movies like Brokeback mountain and tv shows like will and grace show that is also a very huge audience for LGBT content orientated shows as long as they are good
You would think we would have our first Out Gay/bi A-list movie star by now sigh
still hoping that one day they make this talented gay man happen

- Jon Stryker is openly gay and founded the Arcus Foundation, dedicated to conservation and social justice causes, particularly sexual orientation equality.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Stryker
- [quote]You would think we would have our first Out Gay/bi A-list movie star by now sigh
(Male)movie stars have to appeal to the widest audience. Young girls who want to bed them and young men who want to be them. You do the math.
- [quote]So why hasn't Mr. Fred Koch done anything about the evil his brothers are doing to this country? Is he a rethuglicunt too?
The 'other' Koch brothers are ultra-corporatist Libertarians. That's about the destruction of government in favor of private interests, and can be tolerant of gays as long as they don't get uppity and demand 'special' government protections.

- keep em coming ..i heard steve jobs was gay/bi whatever and messed around with guys in the 80's any truth to that

- If, when Facebook goes public, the valuation is 100 Billion, Chris Hughes will be a billionaire.
Sean
- was chris hughes represented in the social network movie?? i have never watched the movie so i am unaware
so the facebook guys are 3 ??
- I expect to be a billionaire in the future--give me a little time fellas.
- [quote]was chris hughes represented in the social network movie?? i have never watched the movie so i am unaware
Chris Hughes was not represented in The Social Network. None of that group outside of Zuckerberg and Eduardo were.
- WHY DID chris hughes not contribute enough to facebook to be considered an essential character?
- So after a little research there are apparently 4 founders of facebook what i dont get is
How come Zuckerberg's stack in facebook is almost 30%
the other two have between 5-10% share
but the gay one has less that 1% ...WTF can somebody explain
- Chris Hughes had very little to do with the founding of Facebook. He was a roommate who did a little PR for the endeavor, while the other guys did the heavy lifting. That's why his post Facebook business ventures have been absolute busts.
- Chris and Sean are, if anything, VERY parsimonious with their money. Giving $ 10,000 to the marriage initiative in SC as a goal match was viewed by many a downright cheap. Jumo was a charity. Freedom to Marry is a foundation of which Sean is President and solicits funding from other sources. Chris just bought the New Republic and is Publisher.
Sean was portrayed in one scene in the movie.
These two guys are the real deal. Totally devoted to each other. They met and fell in love when Facebook was operating out of a house in Palo Alto. If Chris had no money they would still be hopelessly in love with each other.
- What's the story with the Alice lady? Dyke?
- How much does Dr. B have?
- R66 thanks for the info
- How much money does Michael Huffington have left after spending millions on his run for the Senate?
- I'm currently reading an autobiography by Rory Cameron's sister. When he was in his twenties, and mummy, the Countess of Kenmare remarried, she turned over an entire shipping fortune to him, plus a Mayfair townhouse, and gave him carte blanche to rebuild and redecorate one of the FOUR mansions she owned on a peninsula of the Cote d' Azure. Perhaps not surprisingly this created a monster. The shipping fortune alone amounted to $16 million (this is in the early 50s), and mummy married into several more, so God knows how much there was in in the end. He died of AIDS in 1973.
AIDS also Billy McCarty Cooper who inherited the Douglas Cooper Australian sheep dip fortune. With all Cooper's Picassos and Cezannes the art alone would now be worth a billion.

- R66 is full of shit. Sean wasn't portrayed in TSN, but Chris certainly was (one scene, early on). And Chris is devoted to Sean, but Sean is devoted to Chris' money. Jumo and TNR were both bad investments. FACT.

- What did Chris do for gay marriage in North Carolina? Nothing of course. An idiot, a fool, a cheapskate, and a professional liar and sociopath. That's your standard gay "activist" billionaire.
- R76: How's this for pathetic:
Chris Hughes was BORN and RAISED in North Carolina! He spent far more money in NYC, a fairly safe bet, yet he left gay Carolinians hanging out to dry.
- Robert Stigwood?
http%3A//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Stigwood
- There's no reason to throw money down a shithole and North Carolina certainly fits the bill. He knew the state's mindset was controlled by Fundy Baptists and the Amendment had zero chance of being stopped.
- Isn't one of the Bass brothers an artsy flamer?
- Check out this revolting billionaire flamer.
[quote]The prince is also known for his generosity, having previously presented Mariah, who flew to London especially for last night's event, with $6million of jewels.
How much health care and education would that buy? Seriously: why aren't the people of Brunei burning down the palaces?!

- Most fat gay boys with diva fetishes are happy with a few Hollywood coffee table books and photos bought on eBay.
This cunt criminally squanders the nation's money feting clapped out fraus.
Why he hasn't been called to account by the media is appalling - especially after the Prince Jefri scandal.
The Brunei royal family are beyond any shame.
- It's off-topic, but Vanity Fair had an extensive profile on Brunei and Prince Jefri last year. While it would be nearly impossible for any other person to spend upwards of $5 BILLION on consumer goods he can't account for, Jefri did so. He had a garage filled with over a THOUSAND luxury cars, mostly customizes Rollses and Ferraris, many never driven a single mile.
Back on topic...
[quote]A little surprising to see designer Michael Kors included, when Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, and Tom Ford are not.
Kors's company went public last year, and since he's still a major shareholder in it, he's now among the superrich (and his brand sells more than Calvin, Marc and Tom Ford combined). Calvin sold his company eons ago and no longer has any stake in it, so gauging his current wealth status is difficult. Marc's primary employer is LVMH, and as such he's not independently wealthy. Tom Ford has a lovely collection of houses, but aside from that he's not terribly wealthy, considering he owns only a half-dozen boutiques that sell products even the 1% can't afford - more like the top 1% *of* the 1%.
The Koch brothers aren't gay, though they share the libertarian mindset that there's nothing wrong with being gay and the government shouldn't interfere in anyone's personal life. Both are married with multiple children, though yes, I of course understand that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
I'm shocked no one's mentioned Barry Diller yet. Regardless of his marriage to DVF, I don't think I've ever heard anyone attempt to argue that he's *not* gay.
- The Koch brothers. I heard they're married to each other.
- Tab Hunter.

- Not quite a billionaire, and probably more bi than gay, but Jann Wenner belongs on this thread.
http://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-businessmen/ceos/jann-wenner-net-worth/
- Ha! I think we can safely assume Jann Wenner is 100% gay at this point. He's been with his (male) partner for over 15 years now. But no, he's not a billionaire.
- R81, that party with all those hoes, old and almost old...just wow!!!
- Just now checking out R81's link ... wow, Raquel Welch still looks fucking amazing! Faye, however looks like death incarnate. Get some bronzer, bitch! Marisa Tomei looks awful, too. Pam and Mariah look fab.
I'm sure Mariah demanded a hefty cash fee for showing up -- on top of the $6 million in jewels and a private charter to fly her to and fro (btw it's a safe bet that every other American celebrity was flown in via private jet ... separate from Mariah's, of course, because the Queen doesn't travel with "minions"). The rest probably "settled" for the freebie jet trip, an on-the-house frock presumably from Browns or Harvey Nicks (with dedicated hair and makeup stylists for the ladies, because there is *no* chance Pam or Raquel put those 'dos together themselves), and deluxe accommodations at the Dorchester.
Nary a single shot of attendee Chace Crawford. Interesting...
- How could i forget Raulp lauren ...his worth 7 billion
- What about Ricky, R90?
- Jon Stryker
David Griffin
Georgio Armani
Peter Thiel
there are a few more but Just can't come up with the names from the top of my head.
