...and Roman P didnt' seem to mind? Wouldn't you care if some ex was always hangin' on your girl?
Why was Jay Sebring always hanging around Sharon tate...
by Anonymous | reply 54 | October 20, 2019 10:22 PM |
Sharon was engaged to Jay at one time. They stayed close. Do you really think that Roman was the kind of guy who was threatened by other men? He supposedly cheated on her regularly. He was probably happy to have someone keep her company.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | April 6, 2012 1:38 AM |
Yeah, Roman was a swinger and thought nothing of cheating and couldn't figure out why Sharon was so uptight about it. It was her "American" hangup.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 6, 2012 1:46 AM |
Yeah, raping babies is just so European. What was her deal any way?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 6, 2012 2:22 AM |
My wife's ex is her hairdresser.
They're like BFFs.
Should I be worried?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 6, 2012 2:29 AM |
Bullshit, he was not cheating on Sharon Tate.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 6, 2012 12:57 PM |
I think the rules are/were different with what WAS called "the jet set" back in the day. Money changed all the rules. People "hung out" simply because they were rich and successful. They socialized, took vacations, ate at tony restaurants to see and be seen. Sebring "travelled in the same circles" so to speak.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 6, 2012 1:16 PM |
Jay was gay.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 6, 2012 1:23 PM |
Wasn't Shampoo about Jay?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 6, 2012 2:52 PM |
"Bullshit, he was not cheating on Sharon Tate."
You're either a troll or a retard, or maybe both. Because EVERYBODY knows that Roman Polanski was never faithful to Sharon Tate. He's made no secret of it; he talks about it in his autobiography. He claims Sharon Tate told him she was ok with the fact than he screwed around like a maniac and wouldn't try to change him. But she was getting fed up with his behavior and they probably would have ended up getting divorced if she had lived.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 6, 2012 3:03 PM |
Sharon Tate was beautiful, but she was dim as dust.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 7, 2012 2:00 PM |
Also, why was she chowing down at El Coyote the nite she died? That restaurant is foul. She should have dined someplace better and surely could have, with her connections.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 7, 2012 2:02 PM |
Sharon Tate was gorgeous and known to be very nice and sweet. But I, too, unfortunately, always got the impression that she was a very dim bulb. THAT is something no one DARES ever mention due to her horrible demise. It's irrelevant in the grand scheme of the horror of the Manson murder story.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 7, 2012 6:05 PM |
She wasn't dim or stupid. She made a career for herself and that takes hard work and smarts. She was no less smart than probably most stars. Ugly unsuccessful people like to judge those who are beautiful so that they don't feel so bad about being ugly and losers.

Jay Sebring would occasionally cut Steve Allen's hair on Steve's show in the 1960s. The show that had Gypsy Boots on it a lot and Sally Rand too. Didn't Sally have a Ph.D. in Physics from UCLA or something like that?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 8, 2012 2:47 AM |
I thought it was a book, but it might have been in the tabs about 20 years ago where someone said that Roman was not happy Sharon was pregnant and wanted her to abort it but she wouldn't abort. He also didn't want to have sex with her when she was pregnant and screwed around on her. The person said that they believed he would have divorced her for having the baby if she had not been killed.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 8, 2012 4:43 AM |
Roman must have trusted Sharon with Jay and there was no reason not to trust her. However, no one knows how he really felt about Jay hanging around with her. Most guys (probably about 99.9%) would not want their wives being that close to en ex. However, these people lived very different lives than most people and felt they could be out of the ordinary. After reading some of the comments on here, I would like to set the record straight on a few of them. Roman did indeed cheat on Sharon and many times. The movie Shampoo was based on hairstylist Gene Shacove and not Jay Sebring, but Jay's influence could have played a part. The El Coyote was Sharon's favorite restaurant and so they ate there that night. Sharon was not dim as some may think.

Jay allegedly tried to come onto to Jim Morrison. Maybe, he was bi?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 28, 2013 8:35 PM |
Jay Sebring was a hair dresser. Single. In West Hollywood. You do the math.

[quote]She wasn't dim or stupid.
Maybe not as stupid as some people think but she was not well-educated nor was she intellectually gifted.
[quote]She made a career for herself and that takes hard work and smarts.
Since when? If you fuck the right people in Hollywood (and elsewhere), you have a career for yourself. I suppose fucking might be considered hard work by some people but not by most of us.
[quote]She was no less smart than probably most stars.
That's an atrociously structured sentence but fairly accurate.
[quote]Ugly unsuccessful people like to judge those who are beautiful so that they don't feel so bad about being ugly and losers.
Sometimes but in Sharon Tate's case she gets more of a pass than other pretty people because she was so gruesomely murdered.
All in all, it appears that the Datalounge may not be for you, dear.

The word we got from elders in Hollywood who were familiar with the situatia was that Sharon and company were having sex, and possibly drugs, with the Manson people.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 28, 2013 9:07 PM |
It has been implied that the poor slobs stiffed the Manson gang on drugs. Also, Bobby Beausoleil believes that Charlie was trying to get him out of prison by copy-catting Bobby's murder of Gary Hinman in the ways that Sharon et al were murdered and the crime scene "decorated."

I read for what that's worth.that Sharon had a affair with actor Chris Jones.while she was married.I believe she did not trust roman.she said Roman lies and I pretend to believe him I don't believe the marriage would have lasted.

r24 is, surprisingly, right about the drugs at least.
Both murders were drug hits. Allegedly, Sebring was known to courier.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 27, 2015 11:07 PM |
Ummm... they were BOTH getting from Polanski?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 28, 2015 12:30 AM |
I remember seeing (on YouTube) a video of Hugh Hefner interviewing Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate.
At one point Hefner asked her her opinion about gratuitous nudity on screen. She was struggling to reply in a knowledgeable way but was failing miserably.
Polanski looked totally embarrassed; like he wanted her to just PLEASE shut the fuck up.

Patricia krenwinkel once alluded that Sharon was NOT supposed to be there that night. Obviously true for poor Steve Parent, too. Voytek, Abigail Folger and Jay were heavily involved with drugs. Therein, many believe is the true motive for their murders.

No way. Vincent Bugliosi would have revealed this at the trial and in his book.

You guys!!! There was no drug angle. The gang went up there to murder Terry Melcher, Doris Day's son. They didn't realize that Terry had moved and the house was being rented out to Roman and Sharon.

r32 that book was a whitewash designed to protect specific interests.

my god that woman was beautiful! even the famous photographer Bert Stern who photographed monroe, taylor and others was quoted as saying "sharon tate was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen"... that's saying alot!
she by all accounts was very sweet, gentle, kind, down to earth (too good for hollywood!) and loved by everyone. she was NOT dumb, she was simply all american with morals and values wholesome raised who was in the wrong world literally and figuratively.. but with her looks, where else did she "belong"..
she really wanted the white picket fence, husband and child career before any hollywood fame..
loved her in "don't make waves" with of course studly blonde god bber dave draper and of course she was breathtakingly beautiful in "valley of the dolls".. SO SO WRONG how her life ended.meanwhile manson has been getting 3 square meals a day, and other privileges for decades now! SICKENING!

R34 is right. Melcher had led Manson to believe he was going to produce his music and reneged. Manson had visited the house when Melcher and Bergen lived there. They probably thought Tate was Bergen.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 28, 2015 2:17 PM |
Iirc, Bugliosi is clear in 'Helter Skelter' that Manson knew Melcher no longer lived on Cielo. He had to reassure Melcher of this at one point.

r37. No.
That also doesn't explain the LaBianca murders, which were also drug hits.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 28, 2015 3:59 PM |
I don't think she was dim or especially all-American (except in looks). She was raised in Europe, I thought, and multilingual.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 28, 2015 7:43 PM |
I think that Jay hung out with Sharon, because he knew the marriage wouldn't last, and couldn't wait to be there to pick up the pieces and have his shoulder cried on. He's the best friend, with ulterior motives. And those motives cost him his life As for not knowing if Bergen was Tate, Manson knew who she was and didn't care. He wanted to send a message to Melcher. It's in his book.

El Coyote sucks! They contributed to Prop. 8. My relatives are buried at Holy Cross. So when I visit, I make a point to stop by Sharon's grave. I lived only 6 miles from Cielo Dr. when the murders happened. My parents were stunned. I was 8 yrs. old.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 9, 2016 7:21 AM |
Jay was hanging around because he loved and probably was still IN love with Sharon. Roman didnt mind because he is an extremely narcissist person and figured she couldnt be interested in Sebring because she was married to him. In truth Polanski is ugly and has a small dick. (not kidding) the reason he use to get laid so much is because he was a famous director and he had massive self confidence. He was a TERRIBLE husband and pretty much abandoned his wife when she was 8 months pregnant to screw around in Europe until Sharon had her baby because she was bitch in the last portion of her pregnancy. My guess is they wouldnt have lasted another 3 months married. Sharon was hoping the baby would change her husband but that just wasnt going to happen. The interesting thing is what psychologically in her background would make her chose a constant womanizer who treated her like dirt compared to a Jay Sebring who worshiped the ground she walked on? SHe had a strong mother who doted on her constantly and lavished her with love and her father was strict but very involved as well in her upbringing, so you would think she would have turned out well grounded in the emotional/relationship arena. That unfortuante factor in her makeup/personlity really cost her her life if you believe in fate. If she would have dumped Polanski a little earlier she would be alive today, probably.

Jay Sebring shows up on an early 1960's TTTT episode on BUZZR every so often. The panel was shocked when it was revealed that he charged $50.00 for a haircut. BTW, Jay was very short.

Manson knew Terry Melcher didn’t live at Cielo Dr anymore. He actually came by there looking for him and Jay Sebring told him Terry moved a few months ago. Manson was angry because he didn’t get a record deal like Melcher possibly misled him to believe. He really talked about a race war called Helter Skelter..I personally do not think it was a drug deal gone bad. Doris Day thought Manson was crazy and she begged her son Terry Melcher to move if he wasn’t going to give Manson a record contract. She feared for his life. Melcher decided to move in January 1969. As far as the LaBianca murders I have many questions about it. I know it was said Manson picked that house due to knowing the next door neighbors who partied with him and did drugs. Who knows though. I wonder why the LaBiancas didn’t try to call for help or run out the backdoor. Manson had gone back to the car. They could get up and walk with the way he had them tied. I wasn’t there so I can’t say but I do wish we knew more about even the smallest details just to know better of what really happen those 2 nights of horror. I’ve heard over the years Sharon Tate wasn’t suppose to have been at the house on Cielo Dr that night.
