Her husband looks at least 10 years younger than her, if not more, but they're supposed to be high school sweethearts. And looks-wise, he's way out of her league. It's pure vanity casting on Falco's part, but otherwise it's a great show.
He's like 7 or 8 years younger than Falco in real life. The real joke was last year when Peter Facinelli had a crush on her. (even the pharmacist is too hot for her.)
Jackie is generally pretty unlikeable, but I still love the show.
Yeah, Peter Facinelli's crush on Jackie was really unbelievable. No fucking way on Earth a guy as hot and young(ish) as Facinelli would have had a crush on that menopausal old hag Jackie. A guy who looked like that would be getting Charlize Theron-looking types left and right.
Facinelli and his toys are just too adorable.
I thought the Coop's crush on Jackie was played as a joke. He was attracted to Jackie because she reminded him of his lesbian mothers. He was such a nervous, insecure wreck that Jackie's tough mommy schtick was comforting to him and he wanted to have that all the time. It wasn't because he thought she was babe.
The new season started already? What day does it air now?
R11 is one of the best links I've seen here in months.
R8 knows nothing about the laws of attraction.
The new season starts April 9.
I'm hoping something can be done to redeem Jackie this year. She's become so incredibly unlikeable that it's become impossible to believe anyone would tolerate her.
Jackie is extremely unlikable, but the writers do try to have frequent moments in the series where she's going to bat for someone who needs help in order to show some humanity on her part, but her overall nastiness makes this a hard show to watch, but I haven't been able to stop watching either..
Edie Falco only has one expression. I thought you need a lot of expressions to be an actress.
New season starts April 9th? Chances are it will be just like last season which was just like the season before it...
I gather that Bobby Cannavale has a significant role for the season but his character never becomes romantically interested in Jackie.
Any spoilers for the upcoming season?
Who plays her husband?
Rapid absorption. That's why she does it.
They need to give her a lezzie affair. Wouldn't it make perfect sense?
That'sh one of my favorite showsh, sho shenshational! I can't even exshplain why I like to sho much!
So, who watched last night?
I haven't seen it yet but I don't mind spoilers. PLEASE tell me the campy, scene chewing Bobby Canivale has been taken off the show, or at least assigned a lesser role.
Any chance of Jackie and her hot husband getting back together? Are we also still be lead to believe lots and lots of hot guys are still begging for Jackie?
Has O'Hara had her baby and is she still fabulous?
Dr O Hara is fabulous and has had her baby.
Bobby is nowhere to be seen.
Jackie has no man action last nite.
Great first episode.
Thanks R27... By the end of last season, I think I was only watching to see O'Hara's scenes, she's awesome.
Did the first episode look promising to you? I saw from the previews that Gloria Akalitis (sp?) is back in charge. Next to O'Hara she's my other favorite.
Is O'Hara leaving??
I have never been able to warm to Edie Falco. No idea why, really. She just leaves me totally cold. I find her totally uninteresting as an actress. Nurse Jackie, consequently, is boring to me. Can't watch more than a few minutes of it.
Love this show.
Doesn't seem like this show has a huge following on DL.
Two episodes in and I'm already exhausted by the sniping and bickering between Kevin and Jackie. OKay, we get it. You're really pissed off and want to hurt her. Can they just get a fucking divorce and let him either go away or bring them back together already? Kevin is a beautiful guy and I'd hate to see him go, but the show's becoming too tiresome to see their relationship angst every friggen episode.
The new male doctor is beautiful and sexy but I'm already over him swooping-in and 'saving' patients from the buffoonery of other doctors or staff.
Yeah, you were a war hero doctor in Iraq and have lots of tattoos for all your "saves".. You're really edgy and rough looking and spent time in prison for drugs and somehow, by the ripe old age of, what? 43? 44? ..you're a brilliant doctor able to sense an aneurysm from 10 feet away? That's smearing it on a little thick.
Is O'Hara coming back or is she really gone?? PLEASE let her come back!!!
O'Hara leaving is a HUGE mistake! Bitch is fabulous and a great counter to the Jackie character.
Still loving Zoe, Coop is adorable and sexy, and as of the most recent episode it looks like we'll be seeing much less of the ex-husband (and hopefully the kids too!)
R34, I HATED the Zoe character from day 1.
Can't always put my finger on why but I think it's because it's such a stupid cliché. She's irritating and tries too hard to be too cutesy and such.
I also don't get the softening of Jackie. Allowing Zoe to move in, not going off on anyone, tolerating the whole vase of flowers nonsense, allowing the staff to talk about her so openly.
The Jackie we know now is lightyears away from the character we were introduced to.
I suppose the idiot new female doctor, whom we all know will exit soon, will leave the door open for O'Hara's return...which makes me wonder why they did all of this in the first place? Why couldn't O'Hara have just taken a long maternity leave and have served as Jackie's offsite friend?
I think we'll be seeing Bobby Cannavale soon. From what I remember in a pre-season preview, it showed her showing up at his door and intimacy was implied.
Also, would the hot daddy pharmacist STILL be pining for and following Jackie around like a dazed puppy after all this time? I mean, Edie Falco isn't horrible looking, but do any of these guys coming on to her ever actually look at her? Sheesh.
O'Hara's really gone. Eve Best wants to stay in England and work there. They filmed a few Skype conversations with O'Hara and Jackie but that's it.
Link please R36
According to this, a Showtime rep says Best will be back on the show for Season 5, April, 2014.
Looks like she's a goner for this season though. Too bad. This will likely be my last few episodes. It's already become a secondary TV interest of mine.
Kind of sick of Falco too, although I loved her as Carm. I wish they'd have canned this and given "Enlightened" another season or two.
"Enlightened" is HBO.
The O'Hara character is going to be killed by a stray bus. Jackie will OD because of her grief. Her ex-husband will get her to the hospital and save her, but one of the kids gets into the pills and dies. The season ends with Jackie attempting suicide.
They never explained why the Bobby Cannavale left All Saints, to be replaced by Anna Deavere Smith, back at her old job. Nor did they explain how Jackie got *her* job back -- at the end of Season 4, she was fired, remember?
WTF?! Between those huge unexplained plot holes and O'Hara being gone for the rest of this season, this show seems to be sinking fast. Does the new showrunner just not give a shit about creating minimal plausibility here?
[quote]The O'Hara character is going to be killed by a stray bus.
a stray BUS?

Not to mention Eddie was hired back on the spot AFTER he was found tresspassing and vandalizing the prescription machine. Apparently Eddie, Acolytis and Jackie are the only pharmacist, administrator and nurse, respectively, in all of NYC.
They made passing comments about Bobby C. And another passing comment about how ADSmith hired Jackie back.
I think it's supposed to be implied that with Cannavale leaving, the hospital had to turn to someone, so Akalitis (sp?) would have been an obvious choice in a leadership vacuum. Thus, she's back.
When she came back, I think that as in the past, she pretty much has absolute power over hires/fires in the E.R. or nursing staff, so it makes sense she'd hire Jackie back. I doubt any paperwork was done plus remember, Akalitis tossed away Jackie's pee test results.
As long as Cannavale never blabbed about that before his meltdown over his son's death, everything could have been smoothly reversed back to where it was.... A bit absurd but still plausible and they likely figure the audience is intelligent enough to figure those things out.
I'm more curious about why all of these people in the ER seem to spend hours there after being diagnosed. People come in and die and it's all done in the emergency room.. Nobody ever seems to be transferred upstairs or to a specialist.
Also, Jackie's constantly giving away free drugs and arranging free treatment and managing to get $400,000 worth of equipment donated via minute-long sessions of blackmail. At what point would she not be found out or beat up?
Also, she must have at least one day minimal OFF each week, yet we're never treated to seeing her function in her everyday life. She's in blue scrubs 24/7 and appears to be at work 7 days a week, 12-14 hours a day. Remember, we commonly see her dropping her kids off at school in the morning, but not leaving work until later in the evening. Seems like she would have to have at least a few hours of personal life in which to present challenges or give insight into the character.
Also, at this point, hasn't Eddie been hired/fired at least three times now? That's very odd.
also..... Does anyone ever notice this show seems to take place perpetually in winter? I suppose it's the shooting schedule and maybe there isn't a budget to fake seasons. In Jackie's world, it's always cold.
Does anyone here in New York happen to know where they film the exterior of All Saints? The last episode looks a little like it's the front of NYU Langone Medican Center... yet in the past, it's look different. Remember the old brick apartment buildings across the street where the crazy guy "God" would scream out the window?
I think they start shooting in Sept. That may explain the perpetual fall/winter thing.
Yes, the show always shoots from September until just before Christmas.
R35, sorry, but both new doctors are on until the end of the season. Cannavale returns halfway through the season and Mike and Jackie fuck. But then she moves on to her next love interest who's a cop.
I'm able to watch one episode ahead and did so last night, watching next week's episode. The cop R49 mentions shows-up here.
Jackie and Kevin are of course officially divorced (these aren't spoilers by the way) which I find really sad. Kevin's so gorgeous, I was hoping they'd work things out.
Zoe is just slightly more tolerable so far this season. Perhaps the actress has grown into the character instead of playing it like a 1980s teenage sitcom character.
How many more times will Eddie the pharmacist be fired and replaced this season?
I liked the gritty atmosphere of the show best, and it seemed very "New York" to me, even down to Jackie's house. The low budget does hurt the show's credibility though, as previous commenters have mentioned. There appears to be 3 doctors in the entire hospital, Jackie seems to treat patients, the patients stay in the ER after the emergency is over.
The exterior shots are mostly of Bellvue Hospital on 1st Av and 28th St, r47.
During a seen last week when Akalitis called everyone together for a meeting to announce the new chief of the E.R., they showed a lot of people you don't normally see, many represented as obvious doctors.
So, with that I suppose they were implying there are a lot more medical professionals in the E.R. who aren't part of the inner circle, but it's weird how you never see them.
Also, what's happening with Gloria? Is the memory issue going to develop into her going away? I certainly hope not.
I can't stand looking at Falco. She's got that Ellen thing going on. The big nose with the overly round blue eyes. Edie reminds me of a former co worker. She thought she was all that because of her blue eyes. They never bother looking at their face as a whole. They focus on their eyes. They can't understand why we aren't seeing what they see when they look at their reflection. That damn big nose!
OP, grinding and snorting Oxy does give a much faster high. But, the high does not last as long. The optimal way to ingest Oxy is to chew the pill thoroughly and hold the contents under your tongue for a few minutes before swallowing.
For the record, I no longer use them.
Ahhh! Thanks for that R52. I KNEW it was in that general area, and Langone is just two blocks down, so I knew I was recognizing something.
I also know that when they film Jackie & O'Hara at lunch, they've often shot around Flatiron and Madison Sqr. Park.
Would it be too much to ask to see Kevin in at least one nude/mostly nude scene this season?
Maybe he can be banging some bimbo blonde and Jackie walks in or something. Just wanna see him naked from the waist up and the thighs down..
Seems like the type of guy who would have gorgeous legs/feet etc.
[quote] During a seen last week when Akalitis called everyone together for a meeting to announce the new chief of the E.R., they showed a lot of people you don't normally see,
I scene that seen to!
Wow, no bitching about Stephen Wallem here since the new season began. How refreshing.
What happened to Momo and the first younger daughter?
She has a hot body. Guys like that more than a pretty face.
Finally all caught up the show. WTF happened to momo? It's also irritating that they're playing Gloria's dementia for laughs. Hopefully its a medication or bladder issue.
So who is your favorite patient? Or Jackie dressdown? I like when Jackie told the stagemom who was upset about her sons haircut that'd it take him a year to learn how to walk.
Why the interest in Momo 3 or 4 years after he left? Hasn't that been settled. What about Sam, the beautiful Indian nurse who lasted 3 years on the show but apparently isn't back for the latest season as he isn't listed for 2013 in IMDB. He provided eye candy (for me at least) but his character was as dull as dirt and he was given nothing to do for two seasons.
There was apparently a personal issue regarding the actor playing Momo. And then-showrunner Linda Wallem wanted her brother to be the sole gay nurse there. Dr. O'Hara was deemed enough of a confidante for Jackie so bye bye Momo. Stephen Wallem wasn't fired despite his sister leaving the show after Season 5. Maybe he'll be out next season and Momo will be back in? I hope so.
So that one nurse really only has one eye? Sam's gone? I thought he was there. The only problem i had w/ Jackies addiction is that they never showed her completely out of her mind. She never nodded out, slurred or even scratched. Shit one nose bleed but no blue boogers? She did not try to steal meds from her cancer/weed guy (another fave). Why'd they switxh kids? The fiest one was good.
Sam doesn't come back. No explanation for his absence. I'd have Arjun Gupta hit the gym, gain 20 lbs, shave his body and sent to my place.
It wasn't a very accurate display of being on a shitload of oxycontin. I've known junkies of that stuff and they would literally pass out mid sentence and their noses looked like a hamburger, just from them constantly scratching them. Also, they always looked sweaty.
For those who don't buy Kevin ever finding Jackie attractive, they obviously do not travel among the heterosexual set. I am always amazed by how many real-life couples consist of hot sexy men and hags for wives. I think most do not look for centerfolds for mates; they are more attracted to finding a mother than a bombshell lover.
In fact, I have come to believe that men who want that bombshell centerfold for a lover/mate are actually deeply closeted.
I can barely watch the show now because since O'Hara left, there's way too much Zoey and I cannot stomach her schtick, she's so irritating and she ends up in almost every scene with Jackie - I had to mute all of her scenes.
It has already been established that Kevin's mother was an addict, so that leads one to conclude the basis of alot of his attraction for the type of woman Jackie is.
Jackie's cute, it's not like her face could stop a clock. Plus, I bet she was hot in high school and Kevin was probably weedy looking. Her body is incredible and she has nice skin. Those tits are the perfect size, big enough to grab at, but not get saggy.
There is a sexual energy that comes off her with all that frustration and nervyness. I can see Coop getting off on her as an ideal great lay.
Oh R61, you've never been familiar with the power involved in what having a beautiful face is. Trumps body. Body can be fixed but not bone structure. It is truly a gift, redeemable for outright cash.
I can walk into any packed bar without a penny and get loaded on fine wine, smoke some great bud (with gift bud for later), determine the mood and music and have men fighting over who is going to buy my next drink. Unlimited cigs...everything. My husband knows this and fears this. I'll be 50 in a few months. Have an amazing bod and most importantly, ass. Beauty is power. It's all about great facial bone structure. I love the confusion on the faces of women twenty years younger than me. My secret? Genetic mostly paired with a relat-able attitude towards all classes and races and a solid liberal arts background rounded out with anthropology. I've seen others with less pull it off but they've honed their charisma skills. A pure, raw good soul center attracts and solidifies the rapture.
Wow, R73. I'm sure you're the belle of every ball you attend. (rolls eyes)
Ha, no shit, R74. I thought R73 was quoting from a terrible 60s movie. You know what, I used to be hot shit too and it mostly caused guys to clam up and act weird around me. Women hated me for no reason. You must not be that "stunning" in real life.
Ask a guy who he'd rather fuck, Angelina Jolie or Jennifer Aniston. 9 out of 10 will say Jennifer b/c she has a way better body. Its not as hard for a woman to pull tail out of her league. Guys have to be rich.
Fucking Angelina Jolie would be like fucking a boy. Fucking Jennifer would be like fucking a girl.
Brad Pitt's got issues.
How do people think Peter Facninelli is hot? He looks like a weasel.
Facinelli's hair piece looks disturbing as ever.
He's like a creepier Tom Cruise. Was it ever established why he an Jenny Garth broke up? Are their kids especially rat faced?
Oh and r73 deserves its own post to be ridiculed by all.
That cop would never go for Jackie - she looks far too old for him - it's weird the director doesn't see it. Jackie could be his mom. She isn't sexy - she just looks boney and dried up - like a witch. They showed a close up of Jackie looking at herself in a mirror and her skin looked horrible and wrinkled like a smoker gets. Don't get me wrong, I love Falco and she's a great actress, but she isn't attractive. The longer hair helps a little.
The cop has a giant mole on his face.
When the cop used to be on Rescue Me the mole bothered me and it still does.
