What, 13 posts in and no mention of DL favorite Faye Dunaway?
I thought William S. Burroughs was addicted to morphine rather than heroin. But as heroin is a morphine derivative we can create an alcove for the morphine addicts
Eugene O'Neill's mother
Is Lou Reed actually addicted to heroin? I thought he was a speed freak.
Bob Dylan r6? Know about pot and other drugs popular during the 60's, but didn't know about him being a heroin addict.
R23, Julia Roberts started using heroin when she was with Keifer Sutherland. That's why she got the hell away from him before it killed her.
I don't know the identity of Cameron Diaz' heroin mentor, but you can probably figure it out from looking at her past relationships.
Yoko Ono (recovered now, of course)
Bob Dylan was strung out for a loooong time through the late 70s and 80s.
Nico - who even got her own teenaged son hooked on the shit.
Many people, and probably many more, are turning to heroin after OxyContin was reformulated. Being unable to abuse it with the new additives, addicts have turned to heroin. Add in the fact that it's cheaper to buy a bag of heroin vs one Oxy pill, former Oxy users easily switch their drug of choice to heroin.
I think we're going to see a huge surge in heroin related deaths, as well as people seeking rehab.
(This is all easily verified with an Internet search, by the way.)
OMG, thank you for reminding me, R8, R15/R16.
What a treasure!
A lot of the people mentioned here were druggies who used heroin (maybe) but were not heroin addicts. Here are some who were:
Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen
Ricky Lee Jones
John Lennon and Yoko Ono
Judy Garland at the end of her life
Who wrote Madonna?
Say what you want, but I don't think she's ever been an addict of any drug.

Unless you count fame and attention. Then she's hooked through the bag and back again.
Since we control most of the poppy fields in Afghanistan, hell yeah heroin use will go up.
[quote]Judy Garland at the end of her life
I seriously doubt this. Her own speed/downers habit just did her in. "Incautious overdose" was her cause of death. It was the same shit she'd been taking for years. Her frail appearance at the end wasn't uncommon for speed users, and those who were just wearing out their bodies.
Himmmmmm wrote somewhere (I have read those posts on so many sites now I can't remember where I saw what) that Angelina isn't hooked on herion or oxy, but on fentanyl.
Gregg Allman is a reformed heroin addict. He switched to alcohol addiction .
I'd forgotten about Yoko. Sean was a smack baby, you know.
That cunt Betty White. Oh yes, don't deny it.
"Himmmmmm wrote somewhere (I have read those posts on so many sites now I can't remember where I saw what) that Angelina isn't hooked on herion or oxy, but on fentanyl."
Okay, if that's true that himmmm allegedly posted that (where is the link?) and not just your crazy imagination then now I'm more thoroughly convinced than ever that Himmmmm is an internet nutcase construct. Some of the things attributed to himmmm I have read elsewhere and are symptomatic of internet head cases particularly those claiming to have inside celebrity skinny. This fentanyl nonsense was discussed at a site where someone was obviously playing at being an insider. It turned out that they themselves had a fentanyl addiction - in addition to having myriad medical and psychological issues. All relayed to their readers from the comfort of their Barcolounger. Transference onto celebrities is a common phenomenon for many of these people. If there is something wrong with them or their family then they claim some celeb has the same issues.
The internet is a dark and mysterious thing. Why anyone would accept the word of an anonymous being on the internet. At CDAN himmmm had nothing to offer that wasn't already available on the internet. Including the phone number of Natasha Gregson Wagner. Yet the gullibility of those CDAN posters was astounding.
I wouldn't put it past Enty - whoever that is now - to have planned the entire thing. Especially with the praise and imprimatur that himmmm was bestowing on Enty in his Farewell Epistles to the Sheep.
re 33, driving a Checker in 80, picked up Mike Bloomfield outside Lone Star. Wanted to go to Eldridge St. I said, I will only drop you at the Delancey end. Different LES then, kidz.
Next day, POST screams Mike Bloomfield OD's.
Mary Kate Olsen. Ashley's clean tho.
Is Damon Albarn still using? I saw him perform at the David Letterman show less than two years ago and he looked healthy.
I've always been addicted to Heroines.
Damon Albarn looks like shit in the "after" photo because it was taken 20 years from the "before" photo. He was a junkie for awhile but there's not much documented evidence of heroin wasting.
Was neil young a junkie?
There's some evidence that herion does not age a person but that the lifestyle of many addicts does rapidly. Which is why Julia Roberts or Angelina Jolie look great and still use.
In fact, some say that herion preserves looks. But that's another thread isn' it.
R54, Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction claims that heroin has absolutely kept him looking well preserved. He says what ages heroin users is the junkie lifestyle - not eating, sleeping, doing whatever to score. But if you're rich and aware of what you doing (like not using too much dope, just enough for your fix) it acts like formaldehyde.
[quote] Which is why Julia Roberts or Angelina Jolie look great and still use.
Jolie used to snort it recreationally for a short while in the mid 90s like a number of people I knew but I would never put her in an addict category. Do you people know what a real addict is? I don't really know much about Roberts.
I've known a number of people who played with it back in the day but I personally would never risk anything stronger than pot or hash. LOL!
No it does not preserve you or help you look great. That's ridiculous. Very bad for the skin.
I can't comment on heroin, but coke keeps me young! I still look like a young, fresh teenager!
Jim Morrison wasn't a heroin addict. He was a drunkie, not a junkie. Not that it makes much difference in the end.
Athony Kiedis and the rest of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Samuel L. Jackson
John Belushi (hello?)
Steve Earle and his son, Justin Townes Earle
Bowie was never a heroin addict. His drug was cocaine. He once said that he hated drugs that sedate, like heroin, alcohol, tranquilizers, etc.
Where do some idiots get their info? On a hunch?
Eric Clapton (clean now?)
Russell Brand (clean now?)
Mike Starr (from Alice in Chains)
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
