Have to say I'm one of those rare types on the left who feel strongly in favor of abolishing this.
I'll always feel I was a victim of this sort of thing due to the way I was admitted to college and received desperately needed financial aid, or lack thereof.
It's time people. It's time to take race out of things like education and hiring and by doing so, give American society a little credit for having advanced such a long way in leveling the playing field.
You don't deserve financial help or an education or a job simply based on the color of your skin or your genitalia.

We have not advanced enough, I think, as a society to do away with it.
We're probably closer to it than we were forty years ago, but not so close as to be considered a complete meritocracy.
