- Now we'll never get a Sean Cody porno.
- Good for him. I'm still not going to see The Vow.
- Loved The Vow, cried like a baby.
- This doesn't make either Rachel McAdams or Channing Tatum A list, although it's a very good opening of a crappy movie.
- Next stop, the Oscar!
- Have you seen it R4?
How do you know it is "crappy"?
- Sappy, romantic weepy films are not my thing. It got horribly poor reviews. The trailer is insipid. I don't have to pay 13 bucks to assume it's a pretty crappy movie.
R4
- R4 is a regular Jeanne Dixon, don't cha know?
- He's one fatal Porsche accident away from becoming a legend .
- As I said in the other thread about Tatum, he knows his range as an actor and he chooses his roles wisely. That makes him very smart and in control of his career.
- R6 must either be Channing Tatum's mother or a complete fucking moron.

- Better than a disease ridden cocksucker like you, R11!
- Check out the Channing Tatum troll having a little tantrum that somebody doesn't think The Vow looks Oscar worthy.

Maybe you're not the best person to be making that very (lame) retort, R14.
- New formula: Channing Tatum + doomed woman = $$$$$
- He's the "A"-Lister with the "G"-String in this summer's blockbuster-to-be, "Magic Mike."

- I told you he was great on SNL.
- Destined for stardom at birth, after being christened with a name referencing Hollywood royalty from "All About Eve" and "Paper Moon."
Channing%27s%20publicist
- Channing's big test will actually be "21 Jump Street", a film that skews heavily male and will require him to appeal to teenage boys. If that film flops, then he'll be stuck doing this Nicholas Sparks bullshit for the foreseeable future.
As for "Magic Mike", that's something Hollywood hasn't done before, and one that the closest analogy would probably be "Boogie Nights", which did an okay $26 million in 1997. I'm predicting "Mike" does $30-40 million domestically, tops.
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/%3Fid%3Dboogienights.htm
- I thought Channing Tatum was a girl. Both names are from actresses. Tatum O'Neil and Carol Channing. I hope he doesn't turn out to be "fabulous" with a name like that.
- "Magic Mike" will by trashy summer fun for horny teenage girls, their cougar mothers, and the under-served gay male market. Expect a big "opening."

- The vow will do even better next two days for V-Day.
I liked it a lot.

- Your taste is crap. Why would anyone take your blog seriously, R24? Is it for fraus?
- I bet Channing has a big opening. He's taken a lot of cocks in that pretty pussy of his.
- 21 Jump Street looks painfully bad. Not one laugh throughout the entire trailer.
- Perfect movie for a Valentine's date!
- I'm sorry to ask but who is Channing Tatum?
- I think Channing is poking a few agents in the shitter to get these roles.
- I'm sorry but when Channing Tatum speaks he sounds like his light bulb is dim.
- It's a decent opening, but I don't see him becoming an A-lister unless his films do a lot better and he actually becomes a good actor.
Incidentally, why do people think he is good-looking? He looks very bloated.
- Isn't he married, to a woman?
- Yes, R33. He got married a couple of years ago.
He's from the South, and while he does't do anything from me, apparently he's a good guy. He supported Obama in 2008 even though most people in his region voted against Obama, and he took some heat for it.
- from = for
- Congrats Channing! Awesome dude.
- Can we talk about what a gash R12 is?
- He's married to Jenna Dewan, who co-starred in Step Up with him. She had previously dated Justin Timberlake.
I find Channing bloated and ugly looking. I don't understand the hype.
- And both of them are very gay-friendly
- He looks like a potato
- Hardly, OP.
With The Vow, he goes from C-lister who might have to compromise himself to be in the business to king of the B-list for a week.
We all know that the Vow won't have legs after Valentine's Day.
I don't mean to be demeaning by saying that. It is an accomplishment in itself. Tatum seems like a nice guy and I wish him well. But A-lister, he isn't yet.
A-listers must have some success, yes, but they also have prestige.
A-listers can pretend to Oscar nominations and feel cheated when they don't get one.
Actually, there is nothing wrong with the B movies. I think I like better modest, friendly, eye candy Channing Tatum than some of the A-listers who take themselves too seriously.
That said, I'd like to him in a movie with a good script and great direction to see what it would give. But nothing too pretentious like a Shakespeare first role with Ralph Fines and Vanessa Redgrave, for instance. It's not his place yet.
- I bet Reese Witherspoon is hating life right now. Her flick was supposed to open against the Vow and they moved it back a week in concession that they knew the Vow would trounce This Means War.
And apparently it isn't doing her any good cause the film is still getting scathing reviews.
Her days of $15 million a flick are officially over. She's getting owned by Channing Tatum movies.
cling%20tight%20to%20that%20Oscar%20Reese%21
- Oddly, This Means War has a slightly higher Rotten Tomatoes score than The Vow.
- That's good, he seems like a nice boy.
Nancy%20Crater
- he is hot to death
- "The Vow" has done $90 million in two weeks and will probably reach at least $150 million domestically.
"The Vow" has already made more money than any 2011 Best Picture nominee save "The Help."
- Is Rachel McAdams chopped liver, OP?
- [quote] We all know that the Vow won't have legs after Valentine's Day.
http://www.readthesmiths.com/articles/Images/Humor/Fail/fail-dogfood.jpg
- And it looks like it will be the # 1 movie again this week.
- Safe House is number 1. The Vow came in at #2.
- No nude pics from Vow?
- Is The Vow any good?
Entertainment Weekly gave it a fucking D!
- I think the problem with Channing Tatum is that he isn't able to speak in an intelligible way. It's like he's been inhabited by an alien who hasn't quite gotten the grasp of talking like a human.
- I agree with R53, but he does manage to pull all his roles quite well. He was good in "the Vow."
- The Vow is much better than the reviews. It's fairly intelligent and Rachel and Jessica more than make up for Chan's mumbling.
- He seems like a genuinely nice guy. I'm glad for his success.
- This parody seems pretty dead-on for Rachel, but the Chan is too life-like.

- I don't have any intention of watching The Vow but the parody was good.
- Looks like The Vow is dropping like a rock this weekend.
- Rachel McAdams is so gorgeous, she just needs better material. She should have the career/status of Reese Witheredpoon or the tired Aniston.
- R59, by this point does it matter? It's guaranteed to cross $100M, estimates are it'll finish in the $120M range domestically, which is probably a lot more than they were expecting given its budget (in the $30M range?) and past performance of similar movies like "Dear John" and "The Notebook" (which I think both finished in the $80M range). No matter what its performance from now on, its first two weekends made it very profitable, so it's considered a success, and probably a nice relief for the careers of both Tatum and McAdams.
I mean, I don't think it makes them "A-List", but at least they get to avoid the "box-office poison" label (the same can't be said for Witherspoon, who's starting to go down the Kidman route).
- Do you think his upcoming GI Joe movie will be a hit or flop?
I think it will flop, mainly because I haven't heard about GI Joe's since the 80's.
- The Vow has grossed $116 million on a $30 million budget.
It will top out around $150 million worldwide.
It's a hit.
- R62, the G.I. Joe movie is a sequel - I think that reasoning (about not having heard about it since the 80's) would have applied better to the first film when it opened a few years ago, but despite that it still managed to gross okay (but not spectacular) numbers - above $100M domestically. And actually, by your reasoning the first Transformers should have flopped spectacularly, but unfortunately for everyone it didn't.
If they've proceeded to a G.I. Joe sequel, it's because the first one did okay enough. I don't think it'll outright bomb - probably another modest but not breakout profit, but it depends on what's out there that particular weekend. People tend to lower their standards a bit for big action movies in the summer.
- R64 Why are you getting all angry? Did you work on the film or something?
I'm not wishing for it to flop - I couldn't care less one way or the other. It's just that I haven't heard about GI Joe since the 80's, so I figured this would be a flop. I had no idea there was even a first film a few years ago (I don't watch much TV or go to the movies so I don't see previews). If the first movie did as well as you say, then maybe it will do well.
R62
- ? R65, I didn't mean my reply to come off angry (and believe me, I have no interest in the films) - just saying that if we're making predictions about whether a film will be a success or a flop based on whether you've heard of the franchise in a while, objectively there are recent countering data points (the first G.I. Joe movie, and the Transformers franchise).
R64
- I get the feeling that 21 Jump Street and Magic Mike are going to be big bombs.
- The trailer for 21 Jump Street is laugh-free. I think Channing has over-reached.
- "21 Jump Street" tracking for $30 million opening
Channing is officially a superstar.
http://www.deadline.com/2012/03/21-jump-street-leaps-in-front-with-700k-midnights-and-big-australia-opening/
- I've taken a shine to him, he seems funny as well as good-looking.
- Ok, this time, yes, this is it.
He has now two successes in a row in different types of movies.
More importantly he has just won big time the heart of the fanboys. If you read their critics, teenage/young adults het fanboys have a hard mancrush on him right now. They find him funny, endearing, down to earth.
Maybe because he plays the role of the unattainable jock who craves the friendship of the fat nerd they identify with?
It's crazier than the fangirls wishing they could mary the brooding hearthrob in The Vow, but it works.
Congrats on your hard work and clever choices, Mr Tatum!
R41
- I'm happy for Channing, especially after watching on how good he really is on SNL. I am so looking forward to watching him on "Magic Mike". Oh, and he is so dreamy!
- His humble beginnings (C-movies, strip dancer)gives him the image of a guy who had to work hard to be where he is today. He doesn't come accross as a spoiled, entitled brat.
The fact that he is not trying to hide his less than glorious past, shows him as a simple man who doesn't take himself seriously. A lot of movie goers are reacting positively to this persona.
What's more, a lot of people are discovering him with 21 Jump Street (yeah, even though YOU've known him for a long time). The apeal of the "new guy" is a plus.
- In the movie the High school cool kids are the tree-hugging hippies and the gays..
- Channing's next two movies, "GI Joe" and "Magic Mike", are supposed to open THE SAME DAY - June 29!
Can anyone really see that happening?
Who wants to bet "Magic Mike" is going to get pushed back to fall?
http://www.imdb.com/movies-coming-soon/2012-06/%23Jun29
- His next "A-list star" vehicule White House Down has almost the same plot than Olympus Fallen. OF will be out in March 3 months before Channing's popcorn movie.
I wish him well, because he is a very nice guy, but keeping the A-list status is really not sure.
- Well, yes, he was invited at the 2013 Oscars and did well.
People enjoyed his dance with Charlize Theron. Both were appreciated for their effort and they looked classy and like they were happy to be there.
When presenting, he seemed nervous at first. Still, nothing that will be hold against him. He was still likable. Nothing like the Stewart debacle, or the Rudd-McCarthy irritation.
Being liked and being game is important in that business.
