Michelle Williams and Busy Phillips

Does Michelle keep her around just so she has someone to stand next to to make her look prettier? Good tactic. Does Busy have a man? A woman?

• Busy is married with kid(s)and If I'm not mistaken she is Michelle's daughters godmother.

• Busy and Michelle are BFFs, but their relationship is still pretty strange. Busy has been showing up to various awards shows basically as Michelle's date.

• Busy has been Michelle's de facto date for years. I guess if you don't have a significant other and you have to attend these things, why not take your best friend? It's not like Busy would be invited to half these things otherwise.

• R10 is right. She and his family tried to get him to rehab. She drove him all the way out to the Clarion Center in PA and then he refused to go in. She (with his family's backing) was trying to tough love him into rehab by saying she wouldn't be with him unless he cleaned up. She was also starting to feel he couldn't be trusted to take care of the kid on his own and was insisting on a nanny being present during his time with her. He then rebelled and fell back into the club scene with Lindsay Lohan and the Olsen twins and died before the family could do anything.

• It's a little odd that she always takes Busy and Michelle does have a new boyfriend. Even in the BBM days Busy came along with Michelle and Heath. If they were men, you know there would be whispering.

• What is even more of a mystery is why Busy's hunky COUGAR TOWN co-star was at THE HELP's table at tonight's SAG awards.

• Busy is unassailable for her work as Kim Kelly but I will never watch another episode of Cougar Town. Semi-relatedly, I think the white Michelle Williams is a very good actress and love her going back to unheralded comedy classic Dick, but fuck if I'm gonna follow her into every Dark Horse Best Actress piece of Oscar bait she rustles up - that Marilyn movie looks awful. Having said that hysterical Zombie Heath queens are too weird to even deal with.

• I don't think Michelle is using Heath's legacy at all. She only talks about him when asked and what's she gonna do? Trash the dead father of her child? That aside, even if things were rocky at the end, there was obviously a lot of love between the two of them at some point. I can easily see her overlooking the bad and simply remembering the good now that he's gone. Hell, Cher spoke fondly of her time with Sonny Bono at his funeral, and that was a contentious divorce at the time.
