How can you not know what your partner makes? I have a friend who's been with her husband for over 20 years and she has no idea what he makes or how much he has saved up. It's bizarre.
I'm single, but last year I reached a goal I established when I first started working full time (9 years ago) by raking in six figures. Officially, I made a little over $105,000. Unfortunately, that doesn't go too far in DC.

[R22] here. My partner and I together make 225. I am in nonprofit and I make 175 but only after 20 years and now being in charge of one of the largest national funraisers in the country.
So basically now that R35 has access to the coffers, he's pulling in more money. That makes sense! Funny how professional fundraisers always make out very well. Skimming off the top, eh?!

$325k, consulting. It goes far enough, even in NYC. I travel over 90% of the time, and hardly ever spend any of my own money: meals, travel, taxis, dry cleaning, laundry, all the multitude of temporary gym memberships.... all of it gets billed to the client. Not to mention on weekends, if I happen to be home in NY, I'm usually too exhausted to do very much. But the travel is brutal, the hours are brutal, the work is brutal, and the insane people I deal with are brutal. It's not the happiest lifestyle. Been in this game ten years, I think I can go about five more before either dropping dead or regaining my sanity by opening up a goldfish store.
Partner and I both 40 in DC. Combined a little over $200K. We aren't extravagant but comfortable (except for his student loans). Mine are paid off so I pick up a little bit more of the expenses so he can keep paying them down. Works for us

It's insane - these numbers should be flipped. He is literally saving lives. I OTOH...hawk toothpaste and mainframe computers.
