- 215K, NYC. Media plus non-profit. It disappears quickly.
- $130K in SF. Not living paycheck to paycheck, but not saving as much as I should.
Hope to pay off my condo in the next few years and then live out miserly (off of the retirement accounts, portfolio and eventual inheritances), until I die from some eldergay disease or irrelevance.

- How can you not know what your partner makes?
I have a friend who's been with her husband for over 20 years and she has no idea what he makes or how much he has saved up.
It's bizarre.
- I'm single, but last year I reached a goal I established when I first started working full time (9 years ago) by raking in six figures. Officially, I made a little over $105,000.
Unfortunately, that doesn't go too far in DC.

Does not go far
- [R22] here. My partner and I together make 225. I am in nonprofit and I make 175 but only after 20 years and now being in charge of one of the largest national funraisers in the country.
- So basically now that R35 has access to the coffers, he's pulling in more money. That makes sense! Funny how professional fundraisers always make out very well. Skimming off the top, eh?!
- I honestly have no idea.
Mitt
- My salary is .1% (yes, 1/10th of 1%) of what I raise so no, no skimming off the top.
- I can't imagine why any of you would volunteer this information. Don't you know that it can be tracked back to you?
Why are you such sheep? I think you really would give up your Social Security numbers and passwords if only someone would ask you.
- R39 you're overly paranoid. What the hell can anyone find out based on your salary?
By the way, my social is 045-39-2943. My mother's maiden name is Cardinale.
I'm an open book, truth be told!
- My annual salary is the same as my social security number.

$325k, consulting. It goes far enough, even in NYC. I travel over 90% of the time, and hardly ever spend any of my own money: meals, travel, taxis, dry cleaning, laundry, all the multitude of temporary gym memberships.... all of it gets billed to the client. Not to mention on weekends, if I happen to be home in NY, I'm usually too exhausted to do very much.
But the travel is brutal, the hours are brutal, the work is brutal, and the insane people I deal with are brutal. It's not the happiest lifestyle. Been in this game ten years, I think I can go about five more before either dropping dead or regaining my sanity by opening up a goldfish store.
- Partner and I both 40 in DC. Combined a little over $200K. We aren't extravagant but comfortable (except for his student loans). Mine
are paid off so I pick up a little bit more of the expenses so he can keep paying them down. Works for us
- I am astounded by these figures.
Proves my point. There is no recession in America. Restaurants, health clubs, resorts, rising apartment rents, expensive cars.
America is full of rich whining dolts.
- About $650,000 - doctor and lawyer. But it's really not that much when you factor in how expensive Hummel and Snow Babies figurines have gotten lately.
- R29 , now do you survive in NYC on 90K? We live in Queens and make more than that and it's tough.
- Peanuts compared to the lot of you. I think I'll be between 65-70K, depending on a few clients. I own a small house in New England. Good news is that it's almost paid off. I have no real savings, but I still have time to work on that.
- $43,000 - Single, and live in Northern Dutchess County NY.
- About $215,000 combined. Houston. Engineer and IT Project Mgr.
- Last year I made $2.4 mil. Does that qualify me for the 1%?
- 350k combined.
I make most of it: 250k as a freelance writer/creative director in advertising.
My partner is a psychotherapist who has an agency job *and* a private practice and clears around 100k.
It's insane - these numbers should be flipped. He is literally saving lives. I OTOH...hawk toothpaste and mainframe computers.
We live in Brooklyn and are going to buy an apartment on the shitty side of prospect park because I'm thinking of going back to school. My career is killing me. I dream of woking in not-for-profit with a side gig bartending.
- I had written a long post but it got lost so here goes a condensed version
around 20k in ss and other income like tax returns here in Holland.
used to be ashamed but no more because it's not my fault I developed schizophrenia, mind you they cal it psychosis cause the s word is stigmatized. I get burned out a lot is a shame realy cause I was doing a bachelor in BA and managed to reached second year
after my last episode I had an experience or fantasized about God, angels and demons so i wanted to become a monk in either a Franciscan or Benedictine order but since I have 40-50k in student loans not possible not to mention mental health issues.
I was interested in writing a book not about my experience itself but a fictional version of it
