I LOVE it.
the excessive sun in summer makes me anxious.
I was thinking the same thing, OP. I don't mind the cold and snow, just the darkness. Those high northern latitudes must be crazy to live in.
Sun makes you anxious, R6? Not criticizing, it makes me sneeze. Seriously, it does that to some people.
I'm a bright sun, midday sun sneezer, too.
It is a sign of high intelligence, as everyone with high intelligence knows.
I blame Obama.
I love it being dark so early. I've always prefered night time over daytime.
Creature... of the night!
I like the short days. I always gravitate toward staying up until dawn and sleeping the day away as much as possible. Most days in the winter I only see a few hours of light.
Well of course he would want everything to turn dark, R10.
I'm at 61N. The sun comes up at 10 and starts going down a little after 3. While it's up, it never gets high enough that you can block it with your car visor.
I'm with R3 and R6 and all the night time lovers.
In Judy Garland's movie The Clock (my favorite of hers) she was sneezing several times and said something about how being out in the sunshine was the culprit - I never understood that and thought it was something just made up for the movie, but I guess it's true.
I liked the early darkness when I was a melancholy teen, all angsty and Kafka-influenced.
Now I'm old and it's hard to drive in the dark, so I like evening sun.
I never knew how dark the darkness could be til I moved to a ruburb without streetlights (and with a hefty roaming deer population).
Gazing through my window to the streets of snow, on a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow...

I know. Daylight savings should be stopped. After we spring forward one more time it should end. Hate sun goin down about fuckin 5pm
I love short days too
Just like the change of seasons, I like the variety. It's kind of nice on a cold December night to just come home and since it is dark I don't feel as guilty if I don't go out and do something, especially outdoorsy.
That's why the Pagans invented holidays at this time of the year. That's why Jews have the "Holiday of Lights" at the time of the year. And Christians have the holiday of Christmas lights at this time of the year.
[quote]Sun makes you anxious, [R6]?
yes, the Spring is the worst time of year for me - sinuses and that damn sunshine at every moment of the day!
No shit, Sherlock at R24
R26 = isn't getting a XMas stocking THIS year
Creature...of the night!
OP can move to the equator.
I know, OP. And it really freaks me because I swear it happens almost every year like this, like some sort of pattern.
Creature...of the night!
Vacation in the southern hemisphere OP.
I know the night is not as it would seem
I know a son that I hope goes down soon.
I love this time of year. For one thing it beats the summer heat. The early darkness allows me to light up candles around the house. I love those flickering flames.
Solstice is 12/22. After that the days get longer. Sunset in LA is 4:48 today and tomorrow.
I love this time of year too, I just wish we had more cool weather by now. Ill take sunset at 5:30 over the hellish summer anytime.
Fuck this nonsense!
Gimme a full moon at 85F. Hot, balmy summer nights are the best!
[R17] - Looking into the sun does make some people sneeze. It's called a photic sneeze reflex. They're not sure what causes it, but some people are guessing it's a leftover reflex from when we lived in caves. When our ancestors would leave the cave, a nice big sneeze would clear all the cave mildew & dirt out of our sinuses. About 1/3 of people have this reflex.
I love when it gets dark early. And I don't like it one bit that they have shortened the Standard Time season by a few weeks. All that daylight in March and April is friggin annoying.
Masturbation makes me sneeze.
Fighter of the Night man,
Champion of the sun...
I love early sunsets on crisp, clear, SoCal days.
I'm a sun sneezer too, R8 and R9. Also, when I feel a sneeze coming on and it's taking too long, all I have to do is look at a bright light and it makes me sneeze.
I love it. I go to bed earlier and I wake up earlier.
OP walk with a torch light
I think that the sun comes up too early. The sun will be coming out here in about 2 hours and I'm dreading it.
I don't know why but I hate the daytime and the sun. I feel much more peaceful and calm when it's nighttime and dark out.
But the days are much sunnier because of the low-angle sun, that shines directly through southern-facing windows, instead of down on the roof during the summer.
Perhaps you should move to Hawaii.
The lightest day has a 7:18 sunset and the darkest night has a 5:48 sunset.
Not much variation, because it's closer to the equator. It has a pretty consistent 12 hour day all throughout the year.
Personally, though, I prefer the dark and the cold. It suits my personality.

I'm happy because this morning it's completely cloudy. I hope it stays that way all day.
Even though Adam Lambert, Joshua Ledet, Lilly Scott, and Syesha Mercado all sang this song on American Idol, I think my favorite has to be the first kid who sang it (and introduced me to the song), and that would be Gideon McKinney. I had never heard this song before him, and I instantly fell in love with it.
It used to be on YouTube, but the copywrite cunts made them delete it, so I can't link the video.
R51 Huh? What are you talking about? This thread is about the sun.
I wouldn't like the lack of seasons in Hawaii, any more than I would like the excessive darkness of winter and the excessive daylight of summer "up nawth" when I am up there truckdriving. But here in southern Arkansas it is just about right, or at least it was before global warming. Now I wonder if it will get cold enough in the winters for the fruit and nut trees to reset their cycles for spring. But between the summer droughts and the spring and fall storms, there are not that many trees left anyway.
Days have been getting longer for a couple weeks. What happens after today is that the sunset starts to get later. I find it weird that I never knew the latest dawn was Dec. 1, the shortest day Dec. 21, and the earliest sunset Jan. 6.
I hate tans. So any lack of sun that keeps lads looking ivory is ok by me.
