I always try to watch this thing and the TV coverage always annoys me to the point where I have to give up and turn it off. R10 has it right. They should show the damn parade and skip the annoying extras.
I used to enjoy it until I learned that NYC routinely covers up enough balloon related fatalities to sate a NASCAR crowd.
[quote]Why can't they just show the fucking parade in its entirety? NO musical numbers, NO celebrity interviews, NO smarmy hosts....JUST SHOW THE FUCKING PARADE GODDAMMIT!
All of that has been part and parcel of the Parade as long as I can remember, and I'm an old coot. Jeez you youngsters are high strung.
I watched the parade curbside for three years. It wasn't that interesting. And most of the balloons are just paid advertisments.

The whole parade is an advertisement, you doofus. It's the MACY'S parade. Jeebus!
Maybe it's just more fun to have on TV as you do other stuff, R18.
R3 can kiss my ass I am gonna watch it live and on TV
There has to be someone living on 7th ave. or Central park south with a decent camera to just shoot the damn parade so we could watch it live without all the commentary!
Plus, mercury went retrograde today. How's that gonna fuck up the parade?
As always, the parade was fucking awful.
And I don't even know what that parade on CBS is about.
WGN carried a parade that went down State Street right in front of the old Marshall Fields, now Macy's. I just caught the very end of it, but it ended with everybody dancing in the street, (including Santa on top of the float) dancing to "Twist and Shout" and "Shake a Tail Feather." These high school band kids were all digging it and were great dancers.
As for Macy's, I watch it for the Rockettes. One I see them, I'm done. I do remember a time when the Broadway numbers seemed to be a lot better. I remember seeing George Hearn do a number from PENZANCE one year, and Len Cariou...Broadway sucks canal water now.
The Parade that CBS Broadcasts on Thanksgiving Day is the Macy's Parade, but CBS can't mention Macy's because of the exclusive contract Macy's has with NBC.
Some of you people take the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade too seriously. Just take it as a fluff piece and three hour ad for Macy's, and as a way for Al Roker, Matt Lauer and Lauer's current female sidekick to supplement their incomes. It's also a good way to watch songs from current Broadway shows and fifth rate pop stars lip-sync their songs as they ride on parade floats.
so...no way to watch it online?
For an hour, before they showed the first balloon, it was all new Broadway shows and casts of all the NBC shows promoting themselves. Could this shitfest be any tackier?
