Anyone else tired of the Kardashian bullshit?

I don't care about some porn star (and let's call her what she is) and her basketball husband. And people are so gullible thinking this was real. A female co-worker of mine went home from work early the other day because she was so stressed out by the news. And another one is going around swearing that he thinks the whole thing was fake. OF COURSE IT WAS FAKE! This whole reality TV shit is getting really disturbing. So transparent and fake in front of our own eyes, and we love to think that it's real. It's sick.

• OP, the thing that's disturbing is the fact that no-talent slobs can become famous and idolized--and the media pursues them. Unfortunately, these fame whore Kardashians are at the forefront of this madness. It's cringe-wothy, creepy and pretty disgusting when I hear this family in interviews talking about their "fans." The dumbing down of America--and maybe the world--is in full force. And it's difficult to get away from them. I'm a news junkie, but these idiots pop up everywhere, even when you're watching a fairly decent news program. They're everywhere. You can't escape them.

• R8. I work with media. And I don't like blaming the media for all of our ills. However, the media is often just as lazy and stupid as the general public. Years ago, there used to be entertainment reporters, political reporters, education reporters, etc., etc. Now so much of the time, these specialty reporters have gone the way of the dinasaur. Now everyone is a general assignment reporter. Meaning, they supposedly have to cover everything--but they're specialized in pretty much nothing. And so, they go for the easy story. They dumb their reporting because even they don't know what they're talking about--and they are often responsible for mixing hard news and tabloid bullshit. Sure, they give the people what they want and what they think will score easy high ratings. But so often they never try and elevate the conversation so that the public is informed, enlightened, etc. The media chases people like the Kardashians because so much of the time, they are nothing more than fangurls themselves.

• It's not just the moronic Kardashians... It's Andy Cohen of Bravo TV. He's the other culprit for poisoning the airwaves with those nauseating "Housewives of You-Name-The-City." Granted, you don't have to watch those shows, but it's hard to escape them--and the affect they have on the public. It's just more dumbing down of the public resulting in idolizing no-talent nobodies who do nothing but aspire to superficial bullshit.

• I hope the woman who went home on stress leave over the dissolution of a TV marriage between two people she will likely never meet and, if she did, wouldn't spit on her if she were on fire, was sacked. Unless, of course, you work in some sheltered workshop, in which case you have my sympathies.

Currently airing TV shows: Sons of Anarchy, Enlightened, The Good Wife, American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, Homeland, Boardwalk Empire, Supernatural, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Parks and Recreation, Community, South Park, Bored to Death, Dexter. If you're watching bad TV, find a better show or stop watching so much TV.

• But that's precisely the problem, R3. It's not the Kartrashians themselves, it's the fact that the next fame whores are ALWAYS waiting in the wings, and when the Kartrashians fade we'll just have to deal with having the new losers shoved down our throats for the next year or two. People keep pointing out that Paris Hilton eventually went away - yeah, but only to be replaced by an entire family of these leeches! Then again, hopefully there's some truth to what R18 posted. Between this and the Real Housewives suicide earlier this year, maybe the trash reality genre has jumped the shark - although I'm sure it will still manage to hang on a like a cockroach for who the hell knows how long.

• I think the mood of the country is changing, and the networks are missing the big picture as usual. While there will always be a fan base for stars and their trials and tribulations, there is a sense that these particular types, ones that have no discernable talent, are stone deaf to the world around them. Opulence and throwing money away on vagina/basketball retard displays while many are in very bad shape money-wise. This is what will be the end of this shit-fest.
