That's a very common phenomena among working-class families in cities in the Northeast, OP. Families stay close. Cousins are best friends. Every time an apartment comes vacant in someone's building, they get a family member into it. Hell, my working-class family in the middle of flyover nowhere is like that, too. My brother and our cousin are best friends, my mother and the cousin's mother, who are sisters, live on the same block, which is also the same block they grew up on, three blocks from the house I grew up in, which is where my brother lives now.
Who cares? Why is the focus always on hot guys? Usually the guys who actually do the work are not as cute. What a superficial society we are!

It's especially common among Italian-American families in Jersey and at least lower NY state. The parents own maybe a 2-3 family building. The boys live in a separate apartment and have Sunday dinner with the folks, but they can come and go as they please (since they're boys) without close supervision during the week.

They got a show because they are good-looking. That's it. I watched two shows. Somehow they managed to turned average-looking kitchens into design nightmares. One kitchen had like five different colors and five different styles of appliances.
They served a great meal complete with cold formed life source bits that I enjoyed very much. They're very conscious of keeping corn gluten out of what they serve.

HGTV should start a post-Sandy tv show. There are thousands of houses needing small to large renovations after superstorm Sandy. Stores like Lowes and Home Depot would live the humanitarian PR of sponsoring these renovations, since they are for middle class and working class white people and not the kind of people like in New Orleans. HGTV viewers would resent poor black people getting free stuff.

If that is not cruel, I don't know what is. People only see the "acts of kindless" these 2 do on their show. They are only "acts" though. The "real" cousins are heartless and uncaring and their behavior off the air definitety shows it.

In response to the last post, as I mentioned in a previous post, my good friend lives at m650 and sees the 2 cousins all the time, I visit the building frequently too to see my friend. They are converting what used to be an old telephone company building into rentals, thus the name "Telco" Lofts. Taken from the concept of "Canco" Lofts in Jersey City which used to be a canning factory which was rehabilitated by another devoloper several years back. The m650 building in JC is a mess. There has been massive water intrusion (leaks) into the units which has been going on for years. I really hope for the people who wind up renting at Telco that BrunCon does a much better job with the rehabilitation of this building. Evidently, John is trying to sell his unit at m650 and has it listed. No plans of Anthony or his parents moving as of now.

I just don't understand why these guys keep buying these buildings to rehab in these run down areas of JC with this vision to revitalize the area and then ask ridiculous prices for the units. It never happened at m650 on Montgomery Street. That's what they tried to do there 4 years ago. BrunCon lost 1/2 million on that project. The units were way overpriced for the inner city. They had to keep reducing the prices on them because there were no buyers at those inflated prices and the units took forever to sell. That neighborhood is basically as run down as it was 4 years ago when they bought it. People on the street begging for money, cars getting stolen and broken into. Revitalized area? I don't think so.

I honestly think that the cousins may be gay or bi-sexual. They both have female significant others so maybe they are having foursomes. I just think something is definitely off. I come from an Italian family and I am very close with my one cousin, but I don't do absolutely everything every day with him(work with, hang out with and go out with every single day). We each also have own lives and own circle of friends too. John and Anthony are rarely seen with other people except for the two girls (Jennifer Walker and Genevieve Gorder). Taking 2 guys with no formal designing training or real design skills and giving them a show just because of the novelty that they are "cousins" and they are decent looking? I have seen that show several times and find it a joke. It is so obnoxiously staged and so fake, and then the designs at the end are all the same style with these impractical set ups and crazy color combinations that just don't work (didn't they ever study the color wheel and learn what colors work together?). I would like to see more shows on HGTV with hosts with real design talent and not this crap.

Researching some info on Cousins on Call. Not sure if I want to laugh or cry at some of these comments. Don't know the boys personally, but they come across as both nice and genuine. I can see Anthony being a little rough around the edges, but he seems to be polishing himself up as his popularity grows. I think-but could be wrong that Ms. Gorder is temporarily living in another apt of the same complex but not living with Anthony. She is redecorating her own place. I post here because I have personally known the two cousins and Carrino's parents (Alfonso and Francine) even way before they got that TV show. I just feel that people need to see the other side of them: the side that is not evident unless you have had personally interacted with them on may occasions. They are just not nice people: very condecending towards others, sarcastic and think that they are above everybody. I just have no respect for people like that. I also feel the same that this whole "relationship" it a rebound thing for Ms. Gorder and a publicity thing for Carrino. As I mentioned before, I do not know Ms. Gorder personally (meaning that I have physically seen her on many occasions but have never had a conversation with her). However, I very much disagree with her parenting ideas: how she is letting her young daughter shack up with her in Carrino's condo. I think that is setting a terrible example for that young child and I am not sure where Ms. Gorder's head is at.
