DL Technical Problems

Am I the only one who has been having issues these last few weeks? At times, I can't access the home page. It just hangs up and I have to access through the back door -- by googling an old thread and entering through that. And even when it's working, when I pull down a page, I often have to wait like 10 seconds before the page is responsive, meaning the links are clickable and I can scroll down. I'm a subscriber, too.

• Sounds like you need run CCleaner.

• If you have a HUGE thread watcher, you'll get that 10 second (plus or minus) delay before i'ts responsible. Trim down your thread watcher to speed things up.

• If you run Windows, it's a utility that will "clean" your PC of old unused unnecessary stuff (clean up old temp files, purge browser cookies, and clean up the registry, among other things).

• How do you prevent posts from being added to Thread Watcher? I seem to have threads popping up there that I've never even read.

• Every thread you reply to gets added. If you don't want it added, after the refresh (after posting) just click the orange star. It'll turn gray and remove the thread from the thread watcher. The only way threads get into the thread watcher is if you click the star (turn it orange) to add them, or if you reply to a thread (it gets auto-added).

• R9, that's not true for me. Just today, it's added threads about not-too-pricey vacations and other stuff that I have zero interest in and would never even open.

• Is anyone else having problems on DL right now? I can't get it to load the new threads, even though all of my watched threads are still there. It started about 15-20 minutes ago here.

• It's been happening for hours now. I'm only seeing threads already "gold-starred" in my thread watcher. Nothing else.

• At least the search function is still working. I think I might look up a "tasteful friends..." thread for amusement.

• For the past few weeks, there have been scripts running behind DL when it loads - it slows everything down and delays use of the site. My computer sends a message asking whether I want stop the scripts - I go 'yes' and DL starts working.
