Why is everything so expensive at Arby's?

Anyone here with Arby's corporate headquarters? Can you shed some light on the pricing decisions? Is it to give the appearance of being 'upscale'? A chicken salad wrap, curly fries and a drink shouldn't be 8 bucks.

by Anonymousreply 109June 13, 2019 5:46 PM

How to stop Arby's from overcharging?

Stop eating there!

Done and done.

by Anonymousreply 1September 23, 2011 5:50 PM

I've never heard of this Arby?

by Anonymousreply 2September 23, 2011 5:53 PM

Why yes, darling. I am the King of Arby's, and I can tell you everything you need to know.

by Anonymousreply 3September 23, 2011 6:17 PM

Anyone who would spend $8.00 on a wrap, curly fries, and a garbage drink has a very low IQ, very low cognitive abilities, and is quite stupid.

Curly fries are garbage, a 'drink' is garbage, and the wrap consists of about three bites and in no way fills up a person and in no way is worth the cost, as it ia very small with the least amount of chicken as possible.

Why would someone think 'curly fries' and a garbage drink should make up a meal.

by Anonymousreply 4September 23, 2011 6:36 PM

What about a Jamocha shake?

by Anonymousreply 5September 23, 2011 6:39 PM

The location you visited has high rent.

by Anonymousreply 6September 23, 2011 9:31 PM

While you may be basically right, r4, I sense that you are a deeply disturbed person.

by Anonymousreply 7September 23, 2011 10:10 PM

Wow, if Arby's is expensive to you, Taco Bell must seem like a four star restaurant.

by Anonymousreply 8September 23, 2011 10:17 PM

R7 seems to accept all that is rotten in U.S. culture, as if all the rotten facets are just fine and dandy.

by Anonymousreply 9September 23, 2011 10:19 PM

Worked there once and read the label. That loaf thang is about 1/4 beef. The rest is soybean fillers, corn syrup and "etc.". They press it all into a loaf shape and sell it as a roast.

Arby's always gives me a stomach ache.

by Anonymousreply 10September 23, 2011 10:23 PM

I am amazed that they are still open and that people actually eat there. I've always assumed that the change is really a money laundering scheme.

by Anonymousreply 11September 23, 2011 10:28 PM

I want to hear more from the King of Arby's.

by Anonymousreply 12September 24, 2011 8:18 AM

whenever i go to Arby's, i always wonder whatever happened to that horse that used to be tethered out in front...

by Anonymousreply 13September 24, 2011 9:48 AM

r4, you do sound unhinged. You may be right, but it's eating you up inside and spreading to everyone around you.

by Anonymousreply 14September 24, 2011 10:02 AM

Fast food prices have been going up for years. Prices like that will be common everywhere soon.

by Anonymousreply 15September 24, 2011 10:21 AM

Its the only fast food I eat. I like their fries and sammiches.

I dont go that often so $8 is not a big deal.

by Anonymousreply 16September 24, 2011 11:54 AM

This is why there are so few of them.

by Anonymousreply 17September 24, 2011 2:54 PM

Arby's is not expensive, you are cheap.

by Anonymousreply 18September 24, 2011 2:58 PM

Girl, if you can't afford $8 please go to Aldi's and leave us alone.

by Anonymousreply 19September 24, 2011 3:10 PM

Always pay cash at fast food joints. They're huge debit card-stealing centers. They steal numbers and farm them out worldwide.

Also I went to a Burger King the other day and the cashier kept holding my card. I believe she was hoping I'd be distracted and leave without it.

by Anonymousreply 20September 24, 2011 4:27 PM

[quote]Also I went to a Burger King the other day and the cashier kept holding my card. I believe she was hoping I'd be distracted and leave without it.

McDonalds has the card readers in front of the register where you swipe your own card. The fact that I just admitted to going to McDonalds means I can't judge you for going to Burger King.

by Anonymousreply 21September 24, 2011 4:34 PM

Arby's uses about 1 ounce of roast beef per sandwich, I quit going there years ago for that reason. Their sandwiches are all bread.

by Anonymousreply 22September 24, 2011 4:47 PM

Shit, the last time I went to Jack in the Box I thought I'd have to take out a small loan to pay for a damn value meal. The nerve!

by Anonymousreply 23September 24, 2011 6:16 PM

No, R15, it is just mind boggling how stupid people can be.

One can buy a whole pound of turkey or roast beef for $8.00 at a grocery deli and make 5 or 6 large abumndant sandwiches (add cheese) rather than eat garbage.

And make your own glass of iced tea with plain iced tea mix - bring it in a small plastic bag from home - rather than a soft drink at lunch/supper.

And skip the grease saturated heart killing fries.

by Anonymousreply 24September 24, 2011 6:41 PM

r25 needs an enema.

by Anonymousreply 25September 24, 2011 6:43 PM

sorry, abundant

by Anonymousreply 26September 24, 2011 6:56 PM

R25 is a maroon.

by Anonymousreply 27September 24, 2011 7:03 PM

R24? Jack in the box is almost scary cheap.

I'm not sure what you ordered, but it's possible to get a ton of "food" for a small amount of money without even trying hard.

by Anonymousreply 28September 24, 2011 7:07 PM

Fast food wise, I vote for Wendy's: value meal prices: small cheeseburger, baked potato with sour cream; other stuff: $1.00 each. Burger King and McD's have similar (yes, I realize everyone knows this; just thought I'd remind y'all. I find McD's double cheeseburger and small fries, $1.00 each, very filling, too.

by Anonymousreply 29September 24, 2011 11:37 PM

So... I ate there today thanks to this thread.

It's not really more expensive than Wendy's or even McDonald's.

I did finish up with an Oreo Jamocha Shake, though, and that was pretty awesome.

by Anonymousreply 30September 25, 2011 5:53 AM

God, it's like an open call for "The Biggest Loser" in this thread.

by Anonymousreply 31September 25, 2011 6:16 AM

Love their potato cakes.

by Anonymousreply 32September 25, 2011 8:28 AM

[quote]Its the only fast food I eat. I like their fries and sammiches.

Anyone who says sammiches should be shot and killed.

by Anonymousreply 33September 25, 2011 10:58 AM

It's expensive because it's good mood food.

by Anonymousreply 34September 25, 2011 10:58 AM

40 years ago Arby's made their sandwiches from giant slabs of roast meat you could watch cook, and their sandwiches were delicious. Now the meat is so cheap and processed that prisoners would riot if you tried feeding it to them.

by Anonymousreply 35September 25, 2011 11:23 AM

Our Wendy'a value menu went up from $1.00 to like $1.39 per item.

by Anonymousreply 36September 25, 2011 12:28 PM

OMG, that is an outrage, R37. How could they still call it a dollar menu?!

by Anonymousreply 37September 25, 2011 1:09 PM

R31 here... I should point out I haven't eaten at an Arby's in a very long time. The menu was a lot different than I remember.

I couldn't even find the basic sandwich I always used to like to get... it was just a regular bun, with roast beef and melted cheese... but no "arby's sauce" on it. And it was really inexpensive. I THOUGHT it was just the "Beef and cheese", but that sandwich now comes on some massive onion Kaiser roll, and has arby's sauce on it, and cost three bucks or more.

I used to always just get two of them and a drink. It was inexpensive and good. And allowed me to skip the fries.

I ended up just getting on of the combo meals (bacon-beef-and-cheese) and it was merely okay. Nothing I'd order again.

I miss the old stuff. Oh, and they did away with their "four items for five bucks" deal too. I liked that as well.

In short, they've elimianted most of the reasons I'd go back. Including the cherry turn-overs. They've replaced those with a chocolate turnover. Meh.

by Anonymousreply 38September 25, 2011 5:00 PM

You seem to be describing the "Arby's Melt Sandwich", R39, though their site says it's not available at all locations.

by Anonymousreply 39September 25, 2011 5:07 PM

Right, that's what it was. Thanks.

And yeah, it wasn't anywhere on the menu any more.

by Anonymousreply 40September 25, 2011 5:11 PM

aren't most fast food meals about 8 dollars? (McDonalds, Burger King...)

by Anonymousreply 41September 25, 2011 8:59 PM

I actually used to love Arby's back in the '70's. I haven't been there in decades.

by Anonymousreply 42September 25, 2011 9:07 PM

Do you get their coupons? I didn't until I went there for the first time in like 20 years and the big sign asked if I knew about them. I said no, they asked for my email...I didn't want to give it but I felt like I would look like a cheap fuck if I just thought they were going to hand them out right there...now I get their coupons emailed to me and I really don't have one close to where I live.

But anyway get the coupons if you like it.

by Anonymousreply 43September 25, 2011 9:08 PM

"#2! Super-sized! Hurry up, I'm starving!"

by Anonymousreply 44September 25, 2011 9:12 PM

r44 aced it ...

A friend of mine managed an Arby's, and I mentioned to him that the prices seemed high for fast food. He said something like 40% of the customers use coupons (available online, and they also load them in Sunday newspapers) which essentially gives you whatever sandwich you want for half price, or a free drink and/or side with a full-price sandwich. Taking that into consideration, they're comparable to other fast food places.

Personally, I like Wendys, can deal with Arbys, McD or BK, but I hate JackInTheBox food with a passion. Too greasy and poor quality, IMO

by Anonymousreply 45September 26, 2011 12:00 AM

I'd never eat there. And worrying about others who do or don't seems insane.

by Anonymousreply 46September 26, 2011 12:08 AM

Horsey sauce!!!!

by Anonymousreply 47September 26, 2011 12:16 AM

I haven't been to Arby's since it switched from Coke to Pepsi.

by Anonymousreply 48September 26, 2011 11:39 PM

Prices for all food is going up.

by Anonymousreply 49October 1, 2011 8:34 PM

[quote]Horsey sauce!!!!

Made from real horses! :)

[quote]40 years ago Arby's made their sandwiches from giant slabs of roast meat you could watch cook, and their sandwiches were delicious. Now the meat is so cheap and processed that prisoners would riot if you tried feeding it to them.

Thanks for the update. I went vegetarian in 1976. I used to love the roast beef sandwiches from Arby's.

by Anonymousreply 51October 1, 2011 10:00 PM

Does anyone else notice their farts and crap smelling TERRIBLE after eating at Arby's?

by Anonymousreply 52December 13, 2011 3:17 AM

TMI, R25. But please knock yourself out.

by Anonymousreply 53December 13, 2011 3:24 AM

For fast food, I like El Pollo Loco and Boston Market. At least you're not getting unknown filler ingredients.

by Anonymousreply 54December 13, 2011 3:33 AM

Oops, I didn't realize El Pollo Loco is only in California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Illinois and Connecticut. You New Yorkers are out of luck.

by Anonymousreply 55December 13, 2011 3:36 AM

Their French Dip is pretty good, and I too love their potato cakes.

by Anonymousreply 56December 13, 2011 3:36 AM

[quoote]And make your own glass of iced tea with plain iced tea mix

Iced tea from a mix is your idea of something that's NOT a "garbage drink"? Why not just have some water, or make REAL iced tea if that's what you like.

by Anonymousreply 57December 13, 2011 3:58 AM

plain unsweetened Lipton instant tea in the big yellow 3 ounce glass jar with blue cap is delicious......

healthy and inexpensive to make a glass full

R54, if you think Boston Market is so superior, maybe you should check out their ingredient lists.

I love roast beef sandwiches. Grew up in the Boston area and there are local non-chain roast beef sandwich places all over the place. Have lived in FL, CA and the southwest and have never seen any other place that has other roast beef sandwich places.

Won't eat at Arby's. The roast beef doesn't even look real.

by Anonymousreply 60December 13, 2011 4:51 AM

Isn't Boston Market still owned by McDonalds?

by Anonymousreply 61December 13, 2011 4:58 AM

I found out you can still get the "Arby's Melt" sandwichs even though they're not up on the menu board any more.

Those are the best, and are priced right.

by Anonymousreply 62December 13, 2011 5:16 AM

I'm so hungry, I could eat at Arby's!

by Anonymousreply 63December 13, 2011 5:28 AM

Love the curly fries.

by Anonymousreply 64December 15, 2011 5:36 AM

R13 was pretty funny. "Horsey sauce," indeed.

by Anonymousreply 65December 15, 2011 8:22 AM

Fatties

by Anonymousreply 66December 15, 2011 4:43 PM

I haven't been to McDonald's in quite a while but had an urge for one of their McRibs recently. (I know, I shudder to really see how those are made but they are like crack to me.)

I ended up getting a McRib value meal and a chicken McNugget meal for my friend and it was $14 (I got large size value meals because we both wanted large drinks).

I just about fell over. (Mary!)

In my mind, a value meal from any fast food joint should be under $5. Going to those places is no longer cheap.

by Anonymousreply 67December 15, 2011 4:50 PM

r37, meet r25.

by Anonymousreply 68December 15, 2011 5:04 PM

Back in the day (70's and 80's) I lived on Arby's potato cakes and Jamocha shake. Considered myself a vegetarian so never bought a sandwich there.

by Anonymousreply 69December 15, 2011 5:07 PM

I'd rather eat at Arby's than at Chik-fil-A.

I used to like Chik-fil-A, but after I read that article about how they fund anti-gay groups, I won't eat there. Now, when I see the sign in front of their store, all I see is "HATE." (Tasty, mouthwatering, deep fat fried hate...)

Seems like Subway is one of the least expensive fast food options around these days with their specials, i.e. $5 footlongs, $2 for some of their 6" subs, 'buy one get one free' random offers, etc.

That being said, it doesn't seem to matter what I order there, all of their sandwiches end up tasting strangely similar, i.e. a mushy, bread-y, glob. But it's filling!

by Anonymousreply 72December 15, 2011 7:16 PM

Why the hell are you doing eating are Arby's? Are you a gay man or David Puddy?

by Anonymousreply 73December 15, 2011 7:28 PM

When an Arby's opened in Brooklyn, I decided to try it - I like roast beef. My sandwich was disgusting - chewy, pre-formed slices that had no flavor and looked like Soylent Green.

If you think Arby's is overcharging you, don't go to Sbarro's. A pepperoni slice there is about $4.00. A combo (slice & drink) will run you about $7.00. I read that they've declared bankruptcy. Guess they're trying to get every penny before they all close down.

by Anonymousreply 74December 15, 2011 7:42 PM

[quote}40 years ago Arby's made their sandwiches from giant slabs of roast meat you could watch cook, and their sandwiches were delicious.

But they still weren't real roasts. When I was but a mere child growing up on Long Island and Arby's was just opening locations about 40 years ago, my neighbor was a butcher and he spilled the beans how Arby's was really just pressed beef (with additives), like chicken roll in the deli.

[quote]I ended up getting a McRib value meal and a chicken McNugget meal for my friend and it was $14.I just about fell over. (Mary!)

You think they'd bring out the big guns McRib and sell it cheap? The "value" you're getting was the fries and drink at a reduced price.

I used to love Jack In the Box which has disappeared out of the east coast. They had the best onion rings ever. Better than a restaurant and nowhere near the strange onion rings that Burger Kings claim they sell.

by Anonymousreply 75December 15, 2011 7:54 PM

I love Arby's.

by Anonymousreply 76June 15, 2013 3:23 PM

I don't know why they took the "Arby's Melts" off the menu. They're the only thing I actually liked. You can still order them but they're not up on the menu board any more, at least not around here.

by Anonymousreply 77June 15, 2013 3:31 PM

OP is yet another slithering Shilly McFraucunt.

Your gunt stinks like the shit-filled pens for herded tortured cows that these corrupt toxic corporate cunts spew out in the mini-malls of America.

You are all that stinks.

You are feces piled upon feces.

You are dirtier than a cheap Vegas whore.

Your legacy is a cloud of methane erupting from the anuses of a thousand cows.

Jack in the Box is considered and upscale fast food in Louisiana. We go there when we have extra money and want to celebrate something special. I'm sorry, but this is true. I'll go and kill myself now. Thank you for taking your time to read this.

Learn to cook.

by Anonymousreply 83July 25, 2013 6:03 PM

So about this obesity thing......

by Anonymousreply 84July 25, 2013 6:22 PM

Moreso than any other fast-food chain, Arby's customers are heavy users of coupons. They put a flyer into the newspaper every week, with prices for just about any kind of sandwich or combo that cuts a good 30% or more off the price. I think most people who go there use the coupons. If you choose not to go for the coupons, you get to subsidize those who do.

by Anonymousreply 85July 25, 2013 6:28 PM

For all the healthies and veggies-only eaters around, can't some enterprising soul create a tasty fast-food, relatively chemical-free alternative for the mass market? These prices for such poor quality is outrageous.

Arby's in Santa Monica just closed. It was the most expensive drive thru in the city, with a prime North Lincoln location. Way overpriced, especally since you could get the same sandwiches made to order at the deli section of any SM supermarket - ALL the Santa Monica supermarkets are upscale.

I really think the decline started when they got rid of their entire ArbyQ BBQ menu, and tried to be a sandwich store.

by Anonymousreply 94September 30, 2013 11:28 PM

There is one Arbys here, though not very convenient. I've been tempted to try them as their food looks pretty good in the ads.

Than again, I could just go to Jack in the Box for an order of egg rolls and a chocolate shake I suppose ...

by Anonymousreply 95October 1, 2013 12:05 AM

Arby's isn't that expensive. They just attract lower income people. If you don't have any money everything seems expensive. I work at Arby's and everyday someone asks if we still have 5 Roast Beef sandwiches for $5. Um no that was over 6 years ago. Beef has gone up over 50% since then.

It amazes me that people think they should be able to get a Roast Beef sandwich for less than the cost of a bean burrito at Taco Bell.

by Anonymousreply 96December 15, 2013 6:02 PM

I tried this place in LA a few weeks ago. Sooooo good!

by Anonymousreply 97December 15, 2013 6:40 PM

Arby's beef is awful. I am not sure what parts of the cow are used for their roast beef sandwiches, but that stuff gave me diarrhea any time I ate a sandwich. Their processed beef has to contain a lot of oddball beef parts. I ate a sandwich about 10 years ago (I was traveling and an Arby's was the only restaurant where I had to stop to fuel up. I got so sick within an hour of eating it. I should have known better, I had a sandwich a few years before that and it had the same effect on me.

by Anonymousreply 98December 15, 2013 6:45 PM

Has anybody tried their brisket yet?

by Anonymousreply 99December 16, 2013 9:32 AM

It's garbage - not even real food.

And you get such a tiny amount of protein, it is not worth purchasing.

And also zero nutritional value.

You have to be a moron to eat it.

by Anonymousreply 100December 16, 2013 9:48 AM

It's not even real beef.

It's just odd body parts of a cow and crummy scraps died brown and packed with chemicals.

by Anonymousreply 101December 16, 2013 9:50 AM

You eat your turds too, OP? No difference between that and that Arby's shit.

by Anonymousreply 102December 16, 2013 9:59 AM

sorry, dyed brown, not died brown
