She had a memorable small performance in Ordinary People. She also has beautiful large eyes.
took her tits out for Ragtime
What''s she look like these days?
She got a big push at the time she had her movie breakthrough, but she wasn''t that great in any of them, IMO. And I think she is quite good in Downton Abbey.
What does spidery mean. I used to love and glad to see her back, but honestly she is not the best thing in Downton Abbey.
she looks almost the same r7. Her face is thinner and she''s wrinkled a little but overall pretty nice. Not too botoxed or anything. I think that is because she lives in London.
McGovern was indeed the best thing about Downtown Abbey. She''s the only even slightly subversive element that unwittingly challenges Fellowes'' aristo fantasist twaddle.
McGovern is not the best things. All her daughters are more interesting, for instance
When will Downton Abbey be back? Has season 2 aired in England yet?
It''s airing in January in America.
R12, she has daughters who are actresses?
She''s really strange in Downton Abbey: she has that weird almost-whistling Chicago accent. But I do like her and find her appealing in the role. \
A few years ago, she was in a British TV movie about Daphne du Maurier and was just about intolerably bad.
Her daughters on the show, is what I assume r12 meant.%0D\
Actually, Maggie Smith is the best thing about Downton Abbey.%0D\
Meanwhile, didn''t McGovern marry a U.K. director or something and move there? She left Hollywood behind. And she is a pleasant and fairly pretty woman, but she''s not exactly a great actress or a great famewhore, which is what I guess you need to become "a bigger star."
Oh hell, she''s still beautiful.
Downtown Abby was my second drag name until I shivved my pimp/manager and had to head for Mobile, where I switched to red hair and became Vanity Fairy.
Now Headlining in Texarkana as Madding Crowd.
come on, she''s terrible in Downtown Abbey. acts like she''s drunk half the time.\
Maggie Smith and the other woman, the lawyer/heir''s mother, they''re the ones to watch. And Hugh Bonnington.
I think she''s tremendous.
Meh, r20. Your Miss Malaprop routine is tired and stale.
moved to UK and had kids..... turns up occasionally\
she was good in the the House of Mirth
She was terrific in Once Upon A Time in America, which is a very underrated picture. The American theatrical release was crap; the director''s cut has moments of brilliance.
Maggie Smith and the gay butler are the best things about the show, not Liz McGovern and her slurred consonants.
Maggie Smith chews the scenery like she hasn''t eaten for days.\
And Daphne wasn''t unwatchable - it was just flawed. It''s worthwhile for Janet McTeer alone.
This is exactly what I mean by DL''s violent misogyny, and if you don''t intervene against it, you are acting in favor of it:\
"Ann Coulter is responsible for that horrible stench that emanates from her dried up gash wherever she goes."\
Your violence against women helps kill queer teens.\
Ann Coulter''s stupidity has nothing to do with her body parts.\
Stop the violence.\
Stop the hate.\
It''s killing us.
she''s married to the director of Downton Abbey.
The "stop the violent rhetoric" troll at R27 is posting the same fucking message on every thread. Go away, you gorgon!
F&F each copy of that post. Robots aren''t tolerated here.%0D
the gay butler is a hotty. (I've grown tired of Liz)
She's also good in DownTON Abbey.
she was the poor man's version of debra winger in the 80s
I watch'd Downtown Abby, but it wuz'all dead white peeple. Def sum fuck'd up shit!
elisabeth mcgovern is totally one dimensional with her upward eyes in EVERY scene..ugh!
[quote]She was terrific in Once Upon A Time in America, which is a very underrated picture.
To be honest she seems like a nice person, but I can't stand her on Downton Abbey, the writers seemed to purposely give the American less lines. The character is extremely passive, and sounds constipated whenever she talks.

You cannot be serious.
Her biggest publicity push was before the release of "Ragtime", which had been a best-selling book and which was a much-anticipated film. The film was a huge flop, even if she looked absolutely great in it.
Her career went into low key after the "Ragtime" overexposure. And she also let herself be seen in public with terrible acne, which might have been a boner-killer for some.
John McEnroe posts on DL Downton Abbey threads!
What was wrong with the Daphne DuMaurier thing? I thought it was good, and all three female leads were good.
She's the weakest link on DA. I wish she'd be off the show but as someone said she's married to the director unfortunately. Can't stand her. Never could when she was pushed on us either.
Her husband is responsible for "My Week with Marilyn" but not Downton Abbey.
R38, make some effort to learn English before you humiliate yourself again by attempting to communicate in the language.
Does anyone else find her spidery?
Just saw her in an episode of Poirot and she did not deliver her lines in baby talk and erratic cadence like she does in Downton Abbey. I guess it must be the director wants her to look sappy. She is a good actress and yes I did enjoy Ragtime.
