I too had the hugest crush on Andrew McCarthy. Now James McAvoy reminds me of him.
Spader is so funny in this. Which makes me think he''ll be great in The Office.
It's on right now. Technically awful, but really enjoyable if you were a kid in the 80's.
I like it.
Never saw it, and I was a child of the 80s.
And yet, I seem to recall a song by Starship being the theme (Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now?). My years of listening to Jean Kasem's husband rear their ugly head.
I'm probably the only person on earth who actually likes 'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now' by Starship. I think Grace did a great job on the vocals.
Ah, don't feel bad, R10. I actually like We Built This City.
You are not the only one, R10. Believe me.
We're standing strong forever.
It's OK r9. Grace Slick's voice indeed makes the song. Even though it doesn't quite succeed in making it a GOOD song, it does make it tolerable.
r11 you have absolutely no excuse. Even with Grace's voice.
I read an interview with Grace Slick a few years ago and she said 'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now' is the only Starship song she thought was ok. She thinks 'We Built This City' and the other 80s stuff was just as awful as everyone else does.
I went to see it immediately after taking my bar exam. I was convinced I had failed and the movie was both a feeble attempt at diversion and a mockery of my ambitions, making me feel like a stupid person watching a stupid film. It turned out I passed the exam but this movie is dead to me for those reasons.
Winds of Change is a great song... although they were still with Paul Kantner back then.
Sentimental, stay at home HBO as a teenager favorite.

Me too. He was the only reason I went to see this movie and recall not liking it much (I was 21 when it came out). I barely remember it. I don't recall Spader, Getty or Taylor at all.
McAvoy reminds me of him, as well. I had my McAvoy crush around the time of Atonement. I actually watched "Wanted," that crappy movie he did with Angelina Jolie.
"Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" was a number one hit in the US and the UK. It was also nominated for an Oscar. A lot of people like this song.
At the time, this song was my favorite. I still have it on my ipod.
