Both interviews went well, and there seems to be agreement that this is likely to be a good fit. \ \ However, at the close of the call, rather than scheduling an in person interview, the hiring manager instead asked for references, which I sent to her along with several work samples. \ \ I guess this is not a huge issue... but who asks for references before they have even conducted an in person interview? At a point where neither party can possibly be sure that the relationship is a good fit?\ \ My references are wonderful, but busy, people. I need them to provide strong recommendations when it *counts*. I am not thrilled with the idea of them being used as a screening mechanism. \ \ Has anyone else experienced this?
