- Brad Pitt was one of the few actors who had no family connections in Hollywood. He packed his bags and moved all the way from Missouri to LA with 100 bucks in his pocket. He was lucky to have met soap Writer Thom Racina who hired him to be his houseboy and was generous enough to let him live with him for free for 2 years.
- Clint Eastwood lived with gay director Arthur Lubin in his younger days. Lubin cast him in one of the Francis the Talking Mule movies%0D\

Robert Wagner was a Henry Willson client and he was "friends" with Clifton Webb. He was also very close to Spencer Tracy, make of that what you will, but Tracy went to bat for him and got him cast in his movies. And I don''t think you can argue that it was about talent since Wagner was a crappy actor.
- All the men in Tyler Perry''s movies.
Adam Rodriguez
- What is the agenda of the Colton Haynes hater here?
- r9 Im surprised we have someone here who defends him like you do. It was ok that he was a whore. But then he tried to deny it and deny being gay.
- I don''t "defend" him. I marvel at the invective. I don''t know whether he was a whore, but I do know he has never addressed the allegation nor has he denied being gay. All that happened was a publicist or agent tried to get some steamy photos off the internet.

- Luke perry
- With who r22?
- There were rumors about Matthew Perry and Darren Starr
- R11 assumes everyone knows what she''s talking about because of course every thread is a dialogue between two people.\
\
Thanks to troll-dar, we can, however, wonder at your inferring hate from the mere suggestion of a name on a thread about the male casting couch. I don''t see anyone claiming "invective" about someone saying "Nathan Lane."\
\
Now, if you''re going to say you''re referring to someone talking about Haynes on other threads, which doesn''t relate to this thread, and then posting without kindly referring to what you''re talking about in answering posts, we have to wonder if you''re drunk, not smart, or actually Mrs. Haynes and unaccustomed to the intricacies of what we call "communication."
- I''ve always figured that cases of "couch casting" in Hollywood aren''t all that easy to discern because, much of the time, even those people who do sleep with higher-ups to get parts have talent. \
\
Having said that, there have been a few guys over the years of whom I thought, "They must have slept with the right people," because they were smoking hot but they really didn''t have much or any talent and, in fact, they didn''t turn out to have any career longevity. Two examples that spring to mind: Michael Pare and Dan Cortese.
- What''s the matter, R25? Did I hit a nerve?\
\
I don''t know what you imagine Trolldar is showing you about me. I am the poster who thinks someone has a bee up his ass about Colton Haynes. Who are you?
- Gary Cooper. John Wayne. Both reportedly posed for beefcake/physique shots when first arriving in Hollywood. Wouldn''t be surprised if they turned up in the offices of some executive.\

Kevin Costner, by his own admission, worked behind the scenes in the porn industry. Rumors say he was also a stunt cock. Again, it wouldn''t be strange if he got noticed by a studio exec.

- I''ve heard from industry folks that most casting directors are actually women.\

Interesting situation...

I''m not ruling out the casting couch for him or anyone else. I''m just saying, enough already with this weird theory of yours that everyone else in Hollywood had it easier because of existing family/showbiz connections.

Only Colin got the memo that you have to actually have talent in order to push through the door once it''s opened.
- Who are the gay powerhouses in Hollywood nowadays?
- No mention of Tony Danza and Merv Griffin??
- Any truth the rumor that all of Tony Danza''s characters were named "Tony" because he couldn''t remember to answer to another name in the scripts?
- There is not ONE actor listed on the thread that I would think anyone would ever be interested in having sex with? \
\
Hollywood producers must be desperate.
- Why the dissing against Colton Haynes? The guy can act, and is wonderful in Teen Wolf.
- Yeah, R44. NO ONE would want this.
http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_kyvv6ms52V1qb9n2vo1_500.jpg
- Oh, my!
- Colton Haynes caused his own bad PR with his foolish attempt to closet himself and try to get those pictures deleted from the internet. It just brought more press to the situation and pissed off a lot of the internet community.\
\
I will admit he is actually a talented actor. But the thread is about using the casting couch and he was an escort.
- Colton was not an escort, their has been no proof of that. The guy is trying to become a legitimate actor, and he has proved that in "Teen Wolf". %0D\
%0D\
It''s his choice on whether he wants to be out or not, not yours. This witch hunt is getting pathetic and ridiculous.
-
It''s his choice on whether he wants to be out or not, not yours. %0D\

Please stop. It''s embarrassing to see you make such a fool of yourself, Fangurl. He made his choice when he posed for male porn pictures. NOBODY here made that choice. %0D\

And let''s not forget that it is HIS lawyer who sees them as porn.
- Casting couch is usually a rumor based on hearsay or it gets confirmed when all parties involved are dead.\
\
There''s no site like Rentboy Dot Com where aspiring actors offer their bodies in exchange for potential roles.\
\
... hm, ... I think I just got an idea for a new networking site.
See ya all on my new site CastingCouchMayhem.com!
- R48--Your only evidence for "he was an escort" is what you've read in threads like this one. Anonymous, sourceless repetition of allegations without any details. And they are repeated far too often to be just innocent gossip.
Someone who does seem to have some detailed knowledge says Haynes was out as a teenager and his partner in the XY photoshoot was his boyfriend. I'm inclined to believe that because it includes the kind of details that the "he was an escort" allegations have never had. But I would never repeat either story as established fact.
Trying to get that underage photo shoot off the internet is not equivalent to "closeting." I haven't seen him say anything in all his publicity to suggest he is closeted now. He seems to be following the Zachary Quinto model so far: Q: "Do you have a girlfriend?" A: "I just got out of a relationship." When asked directly about the rumors he says "Anyone can go online and write anything they want about people they don%E2%80%99t even know and most of the time, that is fueled by hate." No denial.
Perhaps he's not being a gay hero, but he is a potential leading man so asking him to come out is asking a lot of sacrifice for very little reward.
-
asking him to come out is asking a lot of sacrifice %0D\
%0D\
We''re not asking him to "come out." He already did that. He posed for male-male porn photos and it doesn''t look as if they were holding a gun to his head. He came out the minute he posed for those pictures. %0D\
%0D\
Attempting to go into the closet after being so visibly out just isn''t going to work for him.
-
We''re not asking him to "come out." He already did that. He posed for male-male porn photos and it doesn''t look as if they were holding a gun to his head. He came out the minute he posed for those pictures.\
\
They were not porn photos. It was a modeling job. Your argument makes about as much sense as saying any actor who has ever played a gay character is "out" and then if they play a straight character they are back in the closet. There are far more modeling photos of Haynes with women, but somehow only the ones with a guy count a reality for you.
-
They were not porn photos.%0D\
%0D\
Please contact HIS lawyer. HIS lawyer claims they''re porn photos. Why should we accept your view of the photos when he''s paying a lawyer --- a lawyer who claims the photos are porn.
- The face is too butch R46. I like more sugar. The body is ok.
- Yes, R55, but everyone mocked his lawyer because the claim was ridiculous. If everything some lawyer said in a threatening letter were deemed true, you have a shred of an argument.
- Too butch
http://coltonhaynes.net/photos/albums/photoshoots/misc/52.jpg
- R52/R54/57 I don''t even get your argument. As you admit it was a photo shoot he freely agreed to and participated in. Years later he hired a lawyer to attack people from advertising images from a photo-shoot he choose to be in.\
\
The ONLY reason as we all know is because he was kissing a guy in them. That is wrong, cowardly and homophobic. There is no other way to slice it.\
\
I want to like Colton, but his actions regarding "OMG can I go back and rewrite history so no one will see me kissing boys pretty please" is disgusting.
-
The ONLY reason as we all know is because he was kissing a guy in them. \
\
So, if an underage actor had made steamy photos with a girl before he was famous, and then tried to limit their distribution when he started to become famous, would the ONLY reason be because he didn''t want people to think he was straight?\
\
It''s naive to think he is calling the shots with respect to decisions regarding his publicity.
- Really R60? That rebuttal is just weak and I think you realize that. You can argue that is was his team''s idea, whatever. The fact is it happened and it reflected badly on Colton Haynes. \
\
You are obviously a fan of him and that is cool. I would hope you can still be objective enough to realize that the way his team handled that photo-shoot is a sore spot that will leave a bad taste with many people, including myself.\
\
Anyway, I think we derailed this thread enough.
-
You are obviously a fan of him and that is cool. I would hope you can still be objective enough to realize that the way his team handled that photo-shoot is a sore spot that will leave a bad taste with many people, including myself.\
\
I don''t disagree. I just object to people who say this poor handling means he''s "back in the closet."
- Why would Colton need to cover up photos where he was with a girl? That would just further perpetuate his ''heterosexuality'' in that case, because boy+girl = normal (heteronormative). There wouldn''t be a need for a cover up.\
So, that example isn''t quite working. \
\
I believe Colton also has the same publicist as Matt Lanter (90210) now. So, don''t be surprised to see his image become very controlled (much like Mr. Lanter, who also has had rumors since the modeling Bravo show back in 04. And the lawyer moves remind me of Mr. Lanter''s lawyers trying to vehemently control his image too, in regards to the webcam photos). \
\
Anyways, back to the casting couch.

- I'd like to throw my two cents into this debate.%0D
%0D
Let me say for the record that I am not a fan of what Colton and his lawyer did, prior to his appearing on Teen Wolf.%0D
%0D
I understand the motivation for doing it, which of course is to "wipe the gay stain" out of peoples' minds when they think of Colton Haynes the actor. But this was a shitty way to do it.%0D
%0D
Rather than de-gaying him, they should've just said that the photos were modeling pics, and leave it at that. The less fuss, the less people care. And Colton is not a big enough star for people to notice.%0D
%0D
I agree that Colton is a decent enough actor, and someone on the Teen Wolf thread said it best, that rather than wasting his time fiddling around with modeling, he should have gone straight to Hollywood, because he had (has) the talent and looks to be successful.%0D
%0D
What WE hate, however, is this demonizing of his gay past, and the outright lying and cover-up. It just reeks of self loathing and it sets back gay actors at least 30 years.%0D
%0D
That said, I think the most important thing to note is that Colton is the ONLY one who ever got caught redhanded with his hand in the "cookie basket." The only one with incriminating evidence that he's into guys.%0D
%0D
Just think of the hundreds of gay actor cover-ups in Hollywood that have occurred, and are STILL occurring.%0D
%0D
The way Colton and his associates have handled this debacle, is clear evidence that this is what Hollywood does. Being gay is the WORST thing an actor could possibly be.%0D
%0D
If there were no pictures, I GUARANTEE that Colton would be yet another closeted actor, who has been "straightened up" by his agents and publicists. We would always have speculated, but Colton can act butch enough to have squashed the rumors.%0D
%0D
He is the PROOF that there are tons of gay actors in Hollywood, and they're all being covered up. Remember: where there's smoke, there's fire! And I'm talking about Tom Cruise, Jake Gyllenhaal, et. al.%0D
%0D
I feel sorry that Colton had to be the example, because he's only a small time actor. And I assume that he felt that he'd never be famous enough for those pictures with his boyfriend to see the light of day.%0D
%0D
But the bottom line is that the more actors that don't make a big deal about being gay, will add to the acceptance not only ON SCREEN, but in Hollywood itself, among the casting directors, exec. directors, and producers.%0D
%0D
Most of all, I honestly believe that Hollywood makes a much bigger deal about gay actors being on screen, than the people who actually watch the movies, ever would.
-
Being gay is the WORST thing an actor could possibly be.\
\
You are mistaken. Being an OUT gay aspiring actor is the worst you can possibly be in Hollywood. Closeted actors are like a godsend for Hollywood''s PR business. Gives them business / power and keeps them in business / power.\
\
Hollywood people in powerful positions love powerplay. Even the straight ones get off on the fact that they can order around hopeful new talents to do homoerotic stuff and degrade them in the process.
-
And let''s not forget that it is HIS lawyer who sees them as porn.%0D\
%0D\
And the worst part is that he called it "porn" so that websites would be forced to pull the pictures because he also claimed that Colton was "underaged" when he took the pictures.%0D\
%0D\
The whole thing was just sleazy. Carrie Prejean (former Miss California who was caught diddling herself in photos) used the same tactic to keep her pictures from being published.%0D\
%0D\
What''s sad is that the pictures are actually really nice.
- The majority of you queens in here just aren''t...[italic] getting [/italic] it.%0D\
%0D\
Seriously.
- By the way, people aren''t stupid.%0D\

- "That said, I think the most important thing to note is that Colton is the ONLY one who ever got caught redhanded with his hand in the "cookie basket." The only one with incriminating evidence that he''s into guys."\
\
\
I wouldn''t say Colton Haynes is the only one caught redhanded. What about Matt Lanter (90210) with his ''dudetube'' webcam photos. Now, yes, he is solo in the screencaps, but they showed up 1st on gay blog Dudetube (conveniently when they first opened their video chat-room), has had gay rumors literally since he started too, and has rumors of what was supposedly another more explicit private video with another male actor (thought most don''t know of that one). And his team goes after people big time to control his image (thought the webcam screencaps are easy to find. just google). \
So, I wouldn''t say Colton is the only one. (And they now share the same publicist).

- In my opinion, Keanu Reeves used the casting couch better than any guy in Hollywood ever did. He fucked around with all the powerful gays in Hollywood. He has half a billion in the bank because he's gives good head and can do kung fu. He started young in Toronto and he didn't stop till he got on top. He had his looks and that is how he made his success. I would say he is a very wise man. His stepfather probably pimped him out when he was young. Have you ever seen anyone make more from the casting couch than Keanu Reeves? I haven't.

- r91, Lukas Haas doesn't need to sleep with anyone to get parts. Except this one guy called Leo.
If an actor where propositioned by someone for a casting couch session and declined but threatened to go public, they could potentially snag a role and some settlement cash. If they actually went public they could gain notoriety. Or possibly be blackballed. Either way, in today's climate it seems like not submitting to the casting couch can be beneficial too.
- I think they would more than likely be blackballed but if you start using the casting couch and then you stop being available or you get old...you are out on your ass and no one gives you the time of day. In that case, blackmail might let you hang on for awhile. The way you could blackmail them? Expose the new meat...tell the whole world that some of the fangirl favorites are gay.
- Using the "casting couch" to get ahead in Showbiz now, is like thinking a politician will remember your name forever, because you shook his hand once. How naive!
Sleeping with a powerful showbiz type, really won't get you much more than a free Burrito today. The $1 Burrito, not the Deluxe one.

- Wow...that was brave of Jane, I really admire him for his attitude.
- r98, Toby Regbo if I had to guess. He's hot to death. Yes, I'm his age. No, I don't know for a fact.
-
Lukas Haas doesn't need to sleep with anyone to get parts...
I don't know, he was in a Gus van Saint movie, though.
I'd add Jake Gyllenhall, considering those pics and him and the director of Bubbleboy, or whatever that movie was called.
- Lukas probably got paid next to nothing for being in Last Days. His character was named Lukas but he was playing River Phoenix.
- 20 years ago, I think the casting couch still had a purpose.
But then you see guys like Brad Renfro and Cory Haim...probably other's, now long dead. What happened to them? Talk about lost boys? How many have there been?
- Goes back a long way but here's the original pass around boy.

- "Using the "casting couch" to get ahead in Showbiz now, is like thinking a politician will remember your name forever, because you shook his hand once. How naive! "
That's the thing, the whole "casting couch" meme contains the assumption that the suits will give something of great value for a fuck, well after the fact. As if a Hollywood suit is capable of that much honor and loya lty!
So I think the casting couch must operate at the lower levels if at all, bit parts or closeups. But for an actor to convince a director to give him a major role, he'd probably have to deliver the "boyfriend experience" until the wrap, plus he'd have to do something to convince the film's financial backers he's worth the risk as well.
Sadly, it does make sense in terms of the rumored pedophile rings in the kiddie entertainment industry. If all the decision-makers want the same thing, AND it's something they can't get without personal risk, they could agree on an industry standard casting couch.
- What's your point, R102? All the "friends" characters in Last Days are based on actual friends of Kurt, but named after the actors, because they couldn't have the real names and whatever. I don't get the connection to River Phoenix...
part%20time%20Cobain%20nut
- I believe the casting couch is way more prevalent than people here think. Talented, untalented, successful, unsuccessful, male, female, it doesn't matter.
I remember Gregory Harrison from Trapper John, M.D. also talked about starting out on it. I don't know if he specified if with men or women. The truth is probably both, most of the time.
- It really is, R107. People want to believe that their favorite stars achieved fame ONLY through talent and creative ambition, but it just isn't true a lot of the time.
- So many more people want to be famous today, than ever before in history, but have no discernible talent. Not just because the population has grown, but also as a percent of the population,
If there actually were a casting couch, there would be a lineup outside it from here to the Moon.
If you are famous and powerful, you can sleep with anyone you want today. You don't have to give them squat in return. They just want to be with someone famous and powerful.
- If you read Van Sant's book you might get it but then on the other hand, you probably wouldn't, R106. Nevermind.
- Pope Benedict.
- I do think some actors offer the boyfriend experience until they get what they want or they get tired of each other.
- Harrison said it was a female casting VP at ABC. After he rebuffed her, he didn't appear on ABC during the time she was in charge.
- Who is in the pic at R104?
Dopey
- Guy Madison
- All of them, OP. ALL of them.
- It must have been tough to be Guy Madison and Troy Donahue. To be passed around and then have jokes made about your tiny dicks.
- LOL R110 You're so full of it.
Guys, the rich and powerful were never desperate to get laid at all. It really doesn't matter how many billion people exactly there are on the planet. People just like their little "be nice to me and I'll be nice to you" games and the show biz is very sexually charged.
- The thing most people fail to realize is that the "casting couch" is ultimately about power noit sex.
- Is this widely known, R17?
But I don't suppose that that is why Troy was reluctant to sleep with Suzanne Pleshette."...
- Some say that Keanu Reeves got the role of Little Buddha by sleeping with Bertolucci. Bertolucci had already cast Naveen Andrews.
- I agree with R107 just look at most 'stars' today they're talentless: Lohan, Megan Fox, the Twilight twinks living in the closet, etc.
- I don't think Paul Newman would have wanted to screw Tom Cruise. That would have been gross, as if Paul Newman had no class.
- What about Jake Gyllenhaal?
I said that two years ago my friend was working as a temp valet and saw him with an older man. They didn't know anyone was watching and they were very close and it looked like they were kissing. They were in line at a restaurant to turn their car over to the valet and there were several cars on in front of them. They didn't expect the valet to come up to them and take their car until they pulled in under the restaurant's garage thingy, so they got caught by surprise.
My friend would NOT lie. He even got Jakes autograph when they came out but said Jake would not let him take a pic. And like I said this was like two years ago.

- To R117 Troy and Guy wanted to be passed around. Especially Troy. He had drug-filled orgies at his house and everything.
- I think Keanu Reeves would fuck anyone who would give him a job, male or female.
- I think it's just standard sexual harassment you find in any workplace, where people in charge assume that being sexually serviced by their subordinates is just one of their perks. Only in show business, the subordinates are really, really tempting, and for those hot subordinates the consequences of not giving in are potentially so devastating to their careers that they generally just learn to live with it.
- Maybe it doesn't happen anymore?
- Suzanne Pleshette??!!
Big ole dyke if there ever was one!
- hmm r 124. Didn't Ted has a blind item about toothy tile getting it on in cars... hmm interesting!
- Yes, there were several Toothy Tile sightings in cars in parking garages.
- Sean William Scoot rounded up street kids for old Hollywood types. It had nothing to do with getting acting work.
- This book was great reading and covered the creation of Many Famous Actors in Hollywood, not just Rock.

- Henry Willson (July 31, 1911 – November 2, 1978) was an American Hollywood talent agent who played a large role in popularizing the beefcake craze of the 1950s. He was known for his stable of young, attractive clients, including Rock Hudson, Tab Hunter, Robert Wagner, Nick Adams, Guy Madison, Troy Donahue, Rory Calhoun, Clint Walker, Doug McClure, Ty Hardin, and Chad Everett. He discovered Rhonda Fleming walking to Beverly Hills High School, brought her to David O. Selznick's attention, and helped groom her for stardom, and was instrumental in advancing Lana Turner's career.

- Seriously, R46? What the fuck IS that?
Kill it.
Kill it before it kills again!!!!!!!!
- This whole thread reads like a 1950s history.
- It must still go on today. There are so many actors trying to get into the business.
- It's even more pervasive today R139
And it's not just the actors
- Actors don't get into movies for NOT being fucked or for NOT fucking someone.

- I don't think I know how to post those pictures.
- No one here used the casting couch?
- Silly Billy's, when Rock Hudson died in 1985 all gay A list male leads went extinct. Like when the asteroid killed off the dinosaurs. There arenow no gay A list leading men in 21st century Phoneywood. Wash. Repeat
ET,People,TMZ et all
- I agree with R145. None of us are gay.
George%20Clooney
- Most Americans really do believe that. They think if an actor is gay, he would come out. Can't argue with them, can't convince them.
- It really is odd R147. A lot of straight people don't seem to understand how much of a vested interest actors and the people in the industry around them have in keeping the talent closeted.
I think it goes with not understand just how fake show-business is. They think every relationship they read about in whatever entertainment magazine has to be real and not PR-manufactured bs.
- When I was seventeen years old, openly gay director Kenneth Anger stopped me on the street on First Avenue, said he was a photographer, offered me a modeling gig, and a job as his personal assistant. I lasted one day.
During my one day on the job, he offered me the lead in "Lucifer Rising II," as a gay lucifer.
Did he want to sleep with me? I have reason to believe he did.
Would he have cast me regardless of whether or not I slept with him? Definitely.
As I was college-bound, and grew up on the upper east side of Manhattan, I never felt the need to go that route, even had it been offered.
I would later learn that Anger has an amazingly large following. My brg break!!

- R148,
The problem with coming out is the "domino effect."
Actress A comes out as lesbian, which calls Actress B's sexuality, and that of her A-list husband, into question, along with the A-list husband's Broadway co-star, who once kissed a guy on stage, and so on, and so on.
Er, that's a fictitious example.
- LOL R49! I got to "Kenneth Anger approached me" and before I scrolled down I immediately thought "gay Satan video". Lol
- I don't care what any of you say, Keanu Reeves, without exception, used the casting couch better than anyone else. HE is the champion.
- I just wanted to congratulate him on his abilities.
- So, this is it?
- Someone said Keanu didn't use the casting couch to make his millions. Should I believe them?
- bump
- The male casting couch does not exist. Sex is not worth a movie role people, grow up!
Sex at best today, might get you invited to a party with famous people later. Maybe 100 years ago, when sex could lead to blackmail, it could then be used to force a movie role.
Sorry to ruin your fantasy, continue imagining things now......
- Nothing like a good blow job
for a gig
- We weren't born yesterday r157. Go spread your bullshit somewhere else...after you've talk to a few successful actors.
- Andrew garfield speaks very highly of scott rudin and credits him for landing both the social network and spiderman roles, you do the math.
- There's no male casting couch. Get over yourselves.
You 'mos would do it for a drink or a hit of meth.
You think anyone in a position of power is gonna risk his career for sex? No any of you 'mos would give it up for a hit of meth.
Don't flatter yourselves.
- Casting couch is more about ego than the actual sex.
'How much do you want this job/role?', 'Oh, I would do ANYTHING to get that job/role!'.
And it's about the 'you know, I had him/her when he/she was still a nobody!' wink or the sly 'I made you my bitch first before I made you a star!' smile.
- Nope, no one in a position of power would EVER risk his career for sex!! Certainly no handsome democratic presidents, republican governors or European prime ministers! Not Strauss Kahn, not John Travolta. Everyone who has a worthwhile career at all, has a clean cut sex life between one official spouse and very discreet prostitutes. Messy desire and power games are for poor losers!
- In a world where movies cost over $200 million and actors get paid $50 million, sex is not used as a determinant for getting acting jobs.
Sex also won't triple the price of IBM shares, give Northrop a contract for 100 more fighter jets or prevent GM from moving another factory to China.
Some of you have the minds of 12 year old girls.
If you are talking about acting jobs at the local Curtain Club production of "Something Happened On The Way To The Forum", then, yes I'm sure sex could play a part.
- It happens in every tier of film, TV, etc.
There was a really great soap writer, Douglas Marland - and he did his job well (like Bryan Singer)….but there are stories upon stories of the casting couch when he was writing soaps - he wrote "General Hospital" then "Guiding Light" and finally "As The World Turns."
The men hired at World Turns during his tenure came right out of a flannel-laden Falcon porn video.
And he hired John Wesley Shipp at Guiding Light. Nuff said.
I think Ryan Murphy wins the current casting couch award hands down now. You know Darren Criss has blown a few loads on or in Ryan to get his current part. Before that it was Marc Cherry. Mostly gross to think about, although any man blowing the actor that played Carlos would be hot in my book….
- R165 is a Justin Beiber fangirl. It happens at the very bottom of the acting rung, with extras and one liners.
- Just curious. In these male couch instances, is the hot actor receiving or does he have to give it...to get it?
It would be hot until you see the men in question. They all look like Carl Rove. Or have dead android faces like Bryan Singer. So creepy.
Couldn't it be Gary Ross?

- R166 Please don't presume to speak for me, today or ever. I loathe Justin Bieber and all those vapid teenybop bands.
Please find a nice, tetanus covered rusty iron spiked dildo and fuck yourself.
R165
- R168, spoken like a true Doug Marland bitch like Tracy Q or Lucinda W. (Well, an R-rated version.)
I meant that as a compliment.
- R169 I consider a comparison to Lucinda or Tracy a compliment indeed!
R165/R168
- $50 million for an actor? No. Not today. Maybe if the actor had a deal for first earnings?
The point is, there are so many actors looking for work. They are good actors, they are good looking. So, who would get the job out of that pool of workers? The guy or girl who gives the best blow job. It's pretty simple.
-
You think anyone in a position of power is gonna risk his career for sex?
Funniest thing I've read here in a while.
- I laughed at that too. No doubt a publicist at work.
- Recently, I've been watching the show Breaking Bad on dvd and I've become somewhat obsessed with it (can hardly wait til July!). One partial reason for my obsession (aside from the show being the most brilliant television show ever) could be the intense enjoyment I get from watching Aaron Paul and his face. Not only an incredible actor, but jesus, so much pretty to look at and sexy as fuck.
Anyway, in reading a few old interviews with him, I came across this interesting little tidbit from Fade In magazine:
[bold]If you could change one aspect of the business, what would it be?[/bold]
[italic]The casting couch. No joke. It's still very much alive.[/italic]
[bold]They try to sleep with you?[/bold]
[italic]Uhm....yeah. The casting couch should be completely eliminated from this business. It's not going to happen, but it's one element I'd like to change. I probably shouldn't say that to the industry, because they know its very much alive.[/italic]
Yes, the stuff of fantasies right there. After I read that I couldn't stop wondering who the hell propositioned him, how many times it happened, if he ever gave in to it, and just what did he have to do? I mean, Aaron's definitely been around the block in his fifteen years as a working actor in LA.
As annoyed as he sounded about this, I'm thinking it happened more than once.

- R165, maybe I'm a loon bin, but I don't think Marc Cherry's casting couch was as prolific as Singer's or any where near it.
Plus, anyone who gave it up to Cherry, probably wanted to.
Did he really blow Carlos?
- What about soaps like "Dark Shadows" and "Edge of Night" that had lousy gay actors with known slutty reputations, like Joel Crothers.
- R175 I didn't say Marc "Mary" Cherry blew the guy who played Carlos. Just that if he was going to have to blow anyone, Carlos and his big Latino dick would be the best image for inside my head! LOL
- Um...pretty much all of them............
T. Cruise
- I was just watching Joel Crothers, he was really cute, wonder why he never got out of tht soaps?
- I didn't know there were any good looking men on Breaking Bad...someone should have told me.
- I don't think Aaron Paul is attractive. Too bad.
- I always see the Doug Marland references here but as a relative newbie, I don't know the whole story and which actors were involved. Can someone elaborate with juicy details? Thanks.
- R182 Marland was a soap writer and, at the time he was writing these shows, was in his late 40s - 50s.
He definitely liked young rugged types (he grew up on a farm) and apparently, from what other threads have said, had a foot fetish.
John Wesley Shipp was cast twice on a Marland show. (Just saying.)
On As The World Turns a number of young, hunky jeans wearing guys were cast: Jon Hensley, James Wlcek, Michael David Morrison, Graham Winton…and I'm forgetting others, but they were all hot, handsome and right outta any Falcon porn video of that time. (Brian Bloom was already there but he got a big story under Marland.)
It was a very gay friendly show, all the way around.
- Hensley in the 80s when he was cast - walking sex.

- My point, R181, is that he confirms it still happens.
Although, really? You don't find this attractive?

he%20even%20looks%20good%20with%20a%20shaved%20head%20
- Faxing still happens, so do bell bottom jeans. But lets not say this is anything but fringe behavior. (Fringe also still happens)
- Sorry but no, he isn't attractive to me and I hate skin heads.
- Anyone with even half a brain knows it still happens. Do you really believe that good looking men can't recognize a woman who needs a little attention? Think it through.
- So, where can I buy one these 'casting couches' I know some pretty dumb actors, and I have an idea...
- Ikea sells them apparently. Neon Blue or Yellow only.
- Mine was red but I wore it out.
- Very interesting about Aaron Paul! I love the honest types. I wish there would have been more follow up questions. He's very fun to watch, too.
- The thing is...they NEVER follow up when an actor gives an interesting answer. I believe at that point his publicist stepped in.
-
So, where can I buy one these 'casting couches'
Try Sofa Tuckers on 3rd Avenue.
- So then, the gay-for-pays would require a Castro Convertible?
Seat%20Love
- They would require knee pads.
- R194 - exquisite
Made me miss a stroke.
I know those sofas. They're overstuffed.
- I wonder if there is such a thing as a Directing Couch? Any insiders (assuming there are any left) know?
It would certainly explain how some odd names ended up behind a camera.
- Looking at some big name celebs, you figure they had to use a casting couch to get ahead. Then there are people like no-talent Piers Morgan and you wonder how the hell he got that show on CNN? Were they drunk?
- He seems OK to me. He's better than Larry King. Larry King would have interviewed Hitler with the same, "don't really care" attitude as he would have interviewed George Bush or Barak Obama.
- So no one here has even tried the casting couch?
When Sandy Gallin lived in Benedict Canyon, didn't he use his casting couch at all? Of course he didn't use it on Dolly but did he ever use it for Michael Jackson?
- ?
- Q: What were the highs and lows of making your TV breakthrough in daytime soap opera The Guiding Light?
Matt Bomer: I’d got a part in a Broadway show then 9/11 happened and I lost the job. I’d met a casting director for a soap opera who said if I ever needed a job to let him know. I don’t regret it for a second.
