[quote]Lots of people. Of color.%0D\
I always thought Miami Beach was mostly Latinos and rich whitebread types.
On datalounge every non hot, white gay male is a person of "color".
South Beach was fun in 1992.
[quote]On datalounge every non hot, white gay male is a person of "color".%0D\
Yes, but the colored people on Miami Beach are hot and spicy in general.%0D\
And the temperature is hot. Like hell hot. And its not going to get any better until maybe November.
Better since they got rid of Eva Braun.
But, aren''t the "hot colored people" in Miami Beach usually Latin?
What''s the difference between Miami and Miami Beach? Are they similar?
Did haunt the Warsaw Ballroom in ''92, R4?\
If so I probably was in the place as you.
My guilty pleasure is watching TV shows set in Miami. I love the beautiful setting and the skyline.
R8 here again. I also meant to add gay scene differences between the two cities!
Miami is a huge crime capital.%0D\
Miami Beach is segment of greater Miami.%0D\
Is it black or latino criminals causing all of the crime in greater Miami?
So, is it sort of like Beverly Hills within Los Angeles?
[quote]My guilty pleasure is watching TV shows set in Miami. I love the beautiful setting and the skyline.\
CSI Miami = Miami Beach\
First 48 = Miami
Miami is nice, so I''ll say it twice. Miami is nice. Miami is nice. Miami is nice...

R. Nylund & D. Zbornak
It was nice until the servants started buying up the real estate.
They have condos for $50k down there.\
Probably bankrupt pools, but still...
I was just down there. 95 degrees with 95% humidity.\
It''s one of those weird places where one only exists in air conditioned spaces. You could hit the beach, but really, how often can you do that? \
Uhhhh, no thanks. I''ll pass.
It''s the greatest city in the world!
I took my talents there and can be seen fucking any skank I want; my girlfriend and baby mama is there too, but she''s fucking another player. Our kids don''t know a thing. I''m the King, you know.
Hey. This ain''t Miami.\
I musta taken a wrong turn at Albuquerque.
I took a stroll out today. Hot brown and latino mens on every corner as always. And they always try to change into their bathing suits standing in their car doors like no one is going to look.
I wonder what Miami is like now? Asking since this is an old thread
It's like you died and went to Jew Heaven. Now shut up and pass the Manischevitz.
"I was just down there. 95 degrees with 95% humidity.
It's one of those weird places where one only exists in air conditioned spaces."
This is not true! The climate in Miami calls for sweaters and suede boots!
Ugh - even a few hours at Miami Airport made me cringe. Jewish women, with sparkly tops, lots of chocolate, and yes, some very attractive Latino men. But the humidity , the stench, the gaucheness of it all. So cheesy. Is Palm Beach, with all that supposed old money, like this ? It can't be.
Moldy, moldy, moldy.
R23 This made me hot already.
Are there still Scarface's who shoot up the Art Deco neighborhood ? Did they ever clean the blood off Vercace's front steps ? Does Shauna Sand, the queen of lucite, still prowl around in her heels, titties popping out, looking for 22 year old guys to f__k ? Miami - shiny scum dump of the south
It's pretty damned fabulous, if your rich. Otherwise, Ft Lauderdale is a better option.
Isn't Ft. Lauderdale where the most gays live - where Wilton Manors is. How far is that from Miami ?
Miami is so oppressively conservative and aggressively negligent of city planning. Thus every year, my commute gets five minutes longer. (My 20 minute commute is up to 45.)
It is nothing like what people expect.
If you really want to know what MB is like today, I'll drive over and post by phone.
r26, you're cuter than..... an intrauterine.
Lots of HUGE Latino cock and bubble asses, and they are very generous with both. Gay man's heaven.
It doesn't feel like a real city, as if it has no center, just a bunch of high rise condos as a "downtown". It feels, and not because of the Latin population, like it has the city planning of a Latin American city without a colonial center. I think of Quito, for example.
[quote] where Wilton Manors is. How far is that from Miami ?
20-30 minutes north of Miami. Depending on traffic and destination.
R38 is right about Miami. However, Wilton Manors is more like 30 to 50 minutes from Miami Beach. Depending on traffic (which in Miami can double or on occasion triple travel time).
Where do the Miami lesbians hang out?
Miami gay life has no centralized medium. There's no anchor, yet many gays are there.
So I'm gay, and moving to that area. Better go Miami, or Ft. Lauderdale, re quality of life . And is there nightlfe- restaurants, etc. in Wilton Manor ? And why is it called that ?
So as a recent college grad is Miami (south beach) out of my reach as far as cost of living? I love Latinos and hate the Latinos in both Norther and Southern CA. Although Norther CA Latinos are hot, but usually homophobic.
Ft. Lauderdale/Wilton Manors is probably a better choice. When people think Miami, they are really thinking about South Beach. But South Beach is a small expensive neighborhood overrun with tourists. So expecting Miami to be like that is like expecting all of New York City to be like Soho.
Miami is a badly run city that is culturally still back in the 1950s. It also is not a friendly city, so most residents agree that can take a year or so to develop local friendships.
A Brookings Institution study noted that in Miami-Dade County, there is almost no middle class. There is wealth and there is poverty, but the middle class is all up in Broward (Ft. Lauderdale).
That said, Miami-Dade residents have a unique demographic. 51% born outside the U.S. In 57% of households, a language other than English is spoke. So it can be interesting from that perspective.
And yes, there are lots of gay bars and nightlife in Wilton Manors.
I am the OP of this thread. I started this thread two years ago when I was living in a different city. Now I live in Miami Beach! LOL!
R24, buy a subscription, you goddamn cheapskate. Who the hell bumps a two year old thread? WTF is wrong with you?
Lmfao it was me who bumped the thread and I aint paying for no subscription if aint no one going to respond to my threads. But how do you like Miami? And where are all the hot Latinos at in Florida?
Coconut Grove is said to be nice although incidents of crime are regrettably frequent.
I had a friend there who lived there twenty years but was glad to leave since he felt he didn't have much connection to it by the time he left. Too transient.
I have a college roommate who lives in Coral Gables and that's reason enough for me to avoid the whole area.
But what areas have lots of gay or bi or closeted Latinos lol sadly thats the only reason I wanna move to Miami cause I heard theres lots of hot Latinos
The traffic around Coconut Grove is horrendous. If you try to leave or go to the area during daytime hours-good luck.
R50 belongs in Hialeah.
Please stop answering the "colegegrad", his existence offends me.
[quote]And yes, there are lots of gay bars and nightlife in Wilton Manors.
Yes, too many. There were like 4 times the bars than Chelsea or West Hollywood. I don't know how all these bars survive. There must be a hell of a gay population.
As much as people seem to shit on Miami, people keep pouring in.
I have to be honest, even I wouldn't mind living there for a bit. It just seems so tropical and dreamy.
Plus, I fucking hate the cold. Just can't do it.
OP of this thread here. I moved there for a year, hated it, and moved away. There is another thread about Miami where I explained why I hated it.
This thread is three years old. R64 = worse than Hitler.
Pismo Beach, it ain't.
Its great as long as you avoid anyone named Cunanan.
isn't South Florida over now?
I want to live in Cocoa Beach and hang around with Major Nelson and Major Healey!
No Paragon. no Warsaw...
Is "Dont Say Sandwhich" still there? lol
Loved the depiction of Miami in "Magic City"!
(Too bad the show was cancelled. I can't stand the fact that we'll never know if Vera hooked up with Ike's loser son for a baby, which Ike couldn't give her. Danny Houston was awesome.)
R70: I lived in SoBe for 12 yrs, left in 2004. Was an INCREDIBLE place to live, probably the best gay ghetto ever. Before it got overbuilt, it really was like a small gay fishing village!
Then, the powers that be promoted the place to the entire world & the entire world showed up.
Now, it's overpriced, overbuilt, overcrowded, full of Latin fraus with multiple baby strollers & on the weekends, gang bangers fill the clubs & the crime has gone through the roof.
Where once there were like 30 gay bars/clubs, now, there are probably 3-5, tops.
Yes, everyone shits on South Florida, but when you're trudging through your 20th blizzard in January, we're BBQing at the beach. So there's that.
You MUST know Spanish to live in Miami.
Where are the strip bars? The hustler bars?
R74 in Ft Lauderdale.
HOW LARGE ARE THE COCKROACHES
ARE THERE BIG BUGS EVERYWHERE
I go there for the pie.
R76 "Palmetto Bugs" AKA the American Cockroach can grow very big, maybe four inches (including antennae)
[quote]South Beach was fun in 1992.
Why is everywhere always better 20 years ago?
It IS very helpful to speak Spanish if you live anyplace in the Miami area, but you don't have to. Esp not in Miami Beach.
