LOVE this show!! Can''t even begin to imagine why DWTS gets all the publicity. These people absolutely rock, the whole group this year is fantastic. And Cat Deeley is the BEST host of ANY show ever.%0D\
For any of you who are watching, any favorites thus far?
I agree. .. A great crop of dancers this season. Love Cat Deeley. .. Travis''s choreography so imaginative. .. Looking forward.
I agree with you, OP- it''s a shame that Cat never gets nominated for Best Host for the Emmys (or is it Golden Globes?).\
I like all the hip/hop boys and Sasha (? the one half of the sister duo).\
The judges did an outstanding job on picking the contestants this year.\
On a side note, the BF works at a restaurant where both past contestants and judges frequent and gets the low down. A lot of past contestants say that even if they didn''t win, their career has skyrocketed because of it. Pasha even comped us tickets to "Burn the Floor" (he was in it with Anya). YOU MUST SEE THIS SHOW.
Actually I just finished watching the top 20 episode from last week, and they are a strong group. That tiny broadway guy bugs me, the tapper is clearly more talented.
I was glad to see Robert from last season again - a very hot man. I agree that Tapper Dude is a better dancer than the Broadway Dwarf.\
For overall hotness across the seasons, Pasha takes the cake.
Cat Deeley is a lesbian.
This is the most pleasurable talent show to watch. Straight forward without alot of (ahem...The Voice) bells and whistles. I love how they whizzed through the tryouts with a minimal amount of crap dancers (So long Sex)and got right down to business with the top 20. It was a distinct pleasure to see Pascha again. He sort of makes me insane. I am also looking forward to more of Robert and Jacob from seasons past in the all star segments. That being said...can Mary calm the fuck down? As much as I hate Mia sometimes she didn''t scream and yell like a carnival clown on crack. I am amazed at the sounds that woman can emit without being able to move her face. Awesome. Loved the Travis dance with the statues. Sublime.
Hopelessly devoted to this show
Mia was a sour lesbian most of the time last season, so I''m not surprised she wasn''t invited back.
Bring back Neil Haskel the most adorable dancer they ever had.
Isn''t Mia doing the choreography on Rock of Ages??? Her aesthetic should really work on that project. Oy
When there are this many contestants at the start of shows like this, I usually try to tell them apart by calling them The Broadway Guy, The Perky Blond, etc. This year toward the end of the show I had to ascribe The Black Gay Guy to four of the contestants. I think they should have stayed with 10, there are too many of the same type of dancers.\
For me it''s Nick and Iveta for the finals.
I doubt the audience/voters will go for Iveta.
What''s with the Urkel-y guy? He can''t be voted off soon enough.
I thought it was interesting that every time I thought a particular dancer underperformed, the judges praised them to the hilt. And often when a performer looked really sharp, they were critical. Granted there wasn''t a whole lot of negative critiquing going on last night, but still I''m usually not that far off in my arm chair judging.\
That said, I really think they should give us at least two weeks with the top 20 before voting them off. We don''t even really have time to figure out who they are before someone goes home.
Good point, r13. I too thought that judging was pretty soft last night. %0D\
I also thought that most people got dance styles pretty close to their specialty. Like quick step/tap dance.%0D\
The judges wimped out on deciding who to eliminate. I wanted to see Jess or Urkel 2 given the heave-ho.
Though not officially listed on IMBD, Mia Michaels might be assisting Adam Shankman as he directs but all sites but this state he is both director and choreographer as he was on "Hairspray". though Mia was gay, this site also says she has a boyfriend and she has gained alot of weight.
I thought Megan Mullaley was actually a damn good guest judge. Usually the guest judges are clueless when it comes to dance, but she obviously has some background and offered some pretty good critiques, although more low-key than I was expecting. (I guess she can''t be Karen all the time...)%0D\
Great first couple of episodes after the auditions.
R13, you got your wish
[r6]- Travis told the BF this past Monday that the choreo for the this Wed''s ep (I''m assuming the statues) was going to be amazing. He was right.\
And I''m glad that they got rid of the costume designer who did the last 2 seasons. This year''s costumes are great and don''t fall apart.\
[r11], from what I''ve seen from Las Vegas, Iveta is pretty horrible with hip hop. That will be her downfall.\
[r14] I think they did that to make the kids more comfortable, so when they go out of their genre, they''re not completely out of it.
I''m a little bored by the dances tonight. Even a Bollywood number couldn''t wake me until Melanie and Marco did their Broadway-ish dance, which was superb. I still like little Jess, but I didn''t think he was on top tonight. \
Are ANY of the boys straight this year?
Chris (who seems straight but compared to the other boys, it''s not saying much) and Ashley''s number was awesome. Tadd was terrific as well doing the Viennese waltz. The B-boys are really turning out to be fine all-around dancers. Wadi was the only one who didn''t handle the different style as well as the other. I''d say he''s definitely gone. I hope Jess is the other boy going home.
Here''s the song they used for the Bollywood number from the movie "Luck by Chance" with Hrithik Roshan.
What the hell was Debbie Reynolds doing there as a judge? Admittedly, she seemed like an adorably daffy grandmother, but she contributed no real critiques of the dancing. And the woman was a legendary MGM hoofer for god''s sake! Could she not come up with something pertaining to dance to comment on?%0D\
Embarassing. She should have had Carrie write some bon mots for her at least.
Are there any straight guys this year?\
No shit! \
They should just change the name to "So You Think You Can Prance"
I haven''t seen this, but Jess La Protto is from my town. He is the cantor at the local Catholic Church. Is he the Broadway guy you refer to as arrogant?
No celebrity guest judges have been critical. She was anything but embarrassing. It''s time for a Betty White resurgence for Debbie.
Tonight''s elimination sucked, wanted the obnoxious short broadway guy out.
Kristin Chenoweth is tonight''s guest judge.
"Shut the front door! Shut the front door!"
Dear God, Tadd was fucking hot tonight.
Eh, he''s okay. Don''t have a favorite dancer this season. Hardly any hotties, and I don''t get the crying in the dancing.
Let me guess, R44. You pretty much agreed with the AfterElton.com Hot 100 list, right?
Watched every frame of every show of every season and this season is just plain boring.
This season lacks something, I can''t put my finger on it. Every year I have had at least 2-3 dancers that I liked and rooted for. This year, I find them all blah and have no favorites, therefore I don''t care who wins.
I agree, R47: it''s a combination of a lackluster cast and mediocre choreography. Without edgy numbers by Wade Robson or heartfelt pieces by Mia Michaels, the showstopping numbers have been non-existent. Last year, at least we had the All-Stars to elevate the proceedings.\
Seasons 2 and 3 were the show''s heyday, IMHO.
The All-Stars are joining the show when they get to the top ten.
The real question is what was going on with Kristi Dawn''s neck...did anyone notice some kind of rash or bumps on her throat. HD is not a lot of people''s friend is it?
I think it was a love bite on Dawn''s neck.
The Asian guy is soooo hot
>>Cat Deeley is the BEST host of ANY show ever%0D\
According to the british press, Cat "broke America", she''s "a huge celebrity in America" and evidently she is also "one the most celebrated presenters (host) in America"
[quote/]This season lacks something, I can''t put my finger on it. Every year I have had at least 2-3 dancers that I liked and rooted for. This year, I find them all blah and have no favorites, therefore I don''t care who wins.\
Strange. I''ve been thinking the same thing. No one really stands out for me this year at all. r48 was right about seasons 2 and 3 being the peak. I do love Cat Deely though.
Cat Deeley wants to munch Florence''s (sans the Machine) carpet!
No surprises as to who got cut. Nigel can''t see why Rickey is not connecting to viewers? Is he really that clueless?
Because it''s lame; and it promotes lunacy as well as superficiality.
Travis...looks so handsome in suits!
Why do the guys hug like lovers? Wonder who fools around with who?
I love Mitch Kelley, his ass is fantastic!
Love Chris, he''s very sexy!
Oh, poor Chris! Did you see him collapse on the floor, after getting eliminated?
Sending home people in pairs is the problem. Before, the dancers were voted on individually, and new teams were formed every week, which really mixed it up. Seeing the same pairs over and over again is boring as shit. Also some really good dancers were sent home because their partners sucked, and some have stayed by riding on the coattails of a strong partner.%0D\
Except for Melanie Moore, who seems to be the favorite (she''s getting the majority of the close-ups in the group numbers) I''m not interested in any of them. I did really like Nick Young.
Sasha is my favorite. They''re holding onto her until she can explode. Barring injury, she, Ryan and the girl with the really short hair will have nice careers.
Am I the only one who doesn''t like that Adam Shankman?
Take this with a grain of salt because I''m sure the judges eliminations are highly political, but this season isn''t different than any other in terms of individual eliminations. It just so happens that this season, every week, every elimination has been the pair. Which is why there haven''t been any new partnerships. \
All bets are off after, next week anyway when the all-stars come in. I''m looking forward to that. I think it will spice things up.
All the discarded dancers this season have been voted off as pairs as opposed to individuals from different couplings. It seems like they are voting some strong dancers out because their partners were weak (ie..Ashley and Chris)when they probably should have voted either the slut girl or Ryan and Chris. I like when the couples are split up and we begin to see how the different partnerings create different strengths and abilities. I agree that there have been few WOW moments so far and that there are no dancers who approach the beauty or technique of Robert, Danny or Jacob but I think there are some who will break through once we get to the top ten. I am imagining that Robert and Jacob will be back as part of the all stars since they were involved with the tryouts. By the way what ever happened to Danny (who is Travis''s brother through adoption right?)?
Ooops just googled Danny and he''s dancing in Oslo...Was in the original cast of Memphis. Mmm..Nothing about doing porn or blow though.
Starting next week for sure they all will be scrambled.
Mary Murphy''s wealthy plastic surgeon
I''m so happy Cat Deely FINALLY got nominated for the Best Reality Show Host Emmy! The show got nominated for Reality Show - Competition, and they DOMINATED the choreography category, getting five of the six slots (Mia Michaels, Travis Wall, Stacey Tookie, Mandy Moore and Tabitha & Napoleon D''umo)!
I agree about Cat R70. It''s about time she was nominated. She has been solid ever since she joined the show. She really does a great job.\
Anyone know who got the boot tonight?
Alexander and Ryan got the heave-ho.
Am I the only one who doesn''t like that Adam Shankman?\
I adore him. I really miss him this season.
Cat is a happy lesbian today.
R73 = Adam Shankman\
Sasha is probably the best dancer on the show. Melanie will have no career unless she loses about 15 lbs.
Does anyone else think Jess is kind of hot? If he was just a few inches taller, damn.
Hopefully, next week we get some Kent ass.
I want to see Neil Haskell........unbelievably sexy. I also find Billy Bell very hot, though I''m sure I''m in the minority here.
I wish they''d do more same-sex pairings during the season, rather than just in the final round. Some of the best numbers on the show have been boy-boy.
It seemed like more than one of the Emmy-nominated numbers from SYTYCD were same sex
It thought it was so sweet that Mitchell called Ricky his "brother" in his departure remarks.
I am so looking forward to watching Neil dance, I love him so much. And, did anyone watch that girl group "Blush"? They were terrible and off-key, not even auto-tune could have saved them.
I hate Melanie''s body. She''s like a dwarf. Dancers should be long and lean. Her thighs are enormous and I hate watching that body ruin choreography.
Melanie has legs like a linebacker, that''s what ruins her dancer physique.
Jes is hot, like a Sicilian elf.\
Good of Neil Patrick Harris to tell him to stop mugging. Even his "sincere" face is too theatrical.\
But yes; total pocket gay.
Did AllStar Robert want us to believe that he was straight yesterday with his comments about how beautiful Charice was and kissing her?
Yeah, that remark has as much lasting power as his body paint.
There are some pretty nice feets on there though.
"There are some pretty nice feets on there though."\
Obviously, you''ve never seen a dancer''s feet.
Ex-dancer; still have callouses. I can walk on glass.
NPH judged as if his shit didn''t stink. When he lambasted Tyce''s airplane choreography, even Nigel''s eyes were popping out of his head at the sheer audacity. They did a cut-a-way shot during Neil''s critique of Nigel rubbernecking to see Tyce''s reaction to Neil''s ego. I was really surprised at how NPH had seemingly no regard to how he was perceived during commentary. He sure seemed like an uppity asshole. I think they must have given him some notes because after that comment, he made sure to give a shout out to all the other choreographers and then did one of those "not-apologies" by saying he''s so much harder on the broadway numbers because that''s his stomping grounds, as if he''s Neil Patty Lupone or something. I was shocked, I tell ya. Shocked! All I kept thinking was how someday, someone is going to tell him that his kid isn''t cute and NPH will go apeshit.
I love the way this "family" show tries to pretend that all the male dancers, choreographers and judges aren''t gay. Even Nigel is gay as a goose.\
Surely the teenage girls watching at home know that all the guys are gay, gay, gay.
Oddly, Jesse __ from Modern Family was making funny gay comments for his entire gig as a guest judge.
Neil Haskell and Ivan Koumaev were back tonight. Neil is a great dancer but for the love of all things that are fabulous, I wish he was a gay porn star.\
And I guess Travis Wall was nowhere in the building while Ivan was around. Anyone know what went on with those two?
I wanna grab that lil Jess and have him ride my cock like a Broadway Fleshbot.
Um...Neil is God and Melony will win. Last night was over the top with Gaga doing Ginger Rogers on acid, Rob Marshall doing Michael from Boys in the Band and Ellen DeGeneres without makeup...the horror!. Love this show so much. But it all comes down to Neil and that face and body. Lst year his dance with Kent and this year with Melony were incredible.
I thought there were three really brilliant numbers last night. The top four -- Malanie, Marko, Sasha and Tadd -- are all excellent.
I'm with you OP - I think it's a great show and I have wondered why there's so little love on DL for it. Gay people love to dance, appreciate talent and usually enjoy some nice eye candy and this show has all that. It really does puzzle me that it isn't more popular here.
Lots and lots of people can sing but dancers are a rare entity. They completely give over their life to it for not much reward and a very limited career span.
These kids come from varied backgrounds and yet learn to perform some phenomenal stuff. All different styles and little time to learn them.
That's what I find so amazing.
I was a fan of this show from the beginning but have dropped off and missed a couple of seasons.
I was having trouble getting into it this year and felt there wasn't that great of group.
This is the first time I've seen the alumni coming back to work with the current dancers and I think it is a inspired idea. Besides the treat of getting to see some old favorites it completely changed my opinion of this years dancers. Some fantastic talent here.
The celebrity guest judge thing is a bit awkward for me. I had to hit the mute button every time Carmen Electra opened her mouth. They seem to have gotten a bit better as time has gone on but I think you really have to know dance to properly judge the technique of it.
I thought last week was great and thought there was some incredible stuff last night. I kept thinking how great it was for these kids to be able to "share their gift" (yes, yes, Mary me all you want.) As I've said - I have [italic]tremendous[/italic] respect and admiration for dancers.
Glad to see Neil Haskell still has the capacity to singe the hair on my balls. Jesus, he is such a sexy, sexy guy.
Loved his pairing with Melanie (that fucking leap!). The other standouts for me were Marko & Allison and that beyond brilliant last number with Melanie & Sasha (perfectly created by Sonya - completely the right person to utilize their talents.)
It's wonderful that people get to see these performances that they wouldn't normally get a chance to be exposed to. Really happy it's on the air. It's going to inspire a lot of kids.
Nigel (the man who is always insisting his male dancers be "manly") did seem to get called out on being the big queen he is by Mary, Cat and Gaga last night. Loved that. Added bonus.
Did AllStar Robert want us to believe that he was straight yesterday with his comments about how beautiful Charice was and kissing her?\
supposedly back to the straight and narrow. and can Mel''s legs get any bigger?
And I guess Travis Wall was nowhere in the building while Ivan was around. Anyone know what went on with those two?\
They were best friends. But, rumor has it that they are no longer best friends.
Ellen DeGeneres without makeup...the horror\
Ellen looked full on dyke without the make-up. She looked like shit.
Ade got fat and now looks my cable repairman. Sad.
Nigel (the man who is always insisting his male dancers be "manly") did seem to get called out on being the big queen he is by Mary, Cat and Gaga last night. Loved that. Added bonus.%0D\
Can''t stand him ever since his nasty "Brokeback" comment about 2 men dancing together. Classic closet case.%0D
Who got the heave-ho? I missed it tonight.
why are all the guys on this show so short?
pocket gay Jess got cut!\
He seems to be very close with the Asian hiphop hottie who is still in. They hugged and kissed! Almost on the lips!\
Will they have a goodbye fuck? I do hope so.\
Dancers are the best at hot sex.
There''s plenty of time for fucking on the tour!
Did Tadd kiss Jess on the lips at the very end? It sure looked like it.
Yes, he did! That was sweet.
I can''t believe this stupid ass show is still on.
Then go watch your Transformers, dumbass.
Jess is a gay?\
Weird. He does not ping to me at all. Not even in the slightest.
Time to change the batteries on your gaydar, r112.
I love my twinkle-toes finnocchio son!
Jess'' dad was kinda hot in the head shot they showed from his actor days when he was young. Gross old man now though.
Mark in now one of Gaga''s dancers and is looking wicked hot. I would like to see him and Neil and a tube of lube doing a mad tarantella across my face.
Mark looks really buff, and it''s nice that he doesn''t have any ugly tats showing.
"Jess is a gay? Weird. He does not ping to me at all. Not even in the slightest."\
Really? My GayDar immediately screeched and howled and the needle moved radically to the highest setting: Gay,DarLing!
R112 must be Michelle Bachman
We backed it up three times too and it absolutely appeared that Tadd kissed Jess on the lips. Quite sweet.
Imagine being able to smooch on TV and in the (nearby) presence of Lady Gaga.\
That is beyond gay. That''s like unicorns singing ''Somewhere Over the Rainbow.''
Katie Holmes is a big piece of dry cardboard. \
The dancers are given too many routines and they are unspectacular at all of them.\
Still, fingers crossed for cutie Marko!
I really like the dancer Sasha! She seems fearless.
Dull choreography. Nobody was all that thrilling tonight. My favorite is Sasha even though tonight wasn''t really her best.
tomorrow the Glee cast will perform and hype their cheesy 3D movie!\
Suck it, anti-Gleeks!
"Katie Holmes is a big piece of dry cardboard."\
...that Tom Cruise hopes some hot dancers will write their telephone numbers on.
I haven''t watched this season but watched the finale.\
Isn''t Melanie Uncle Nigels chosen one? Is she any good? I saw Kat hitting up Kenny O in getting her a job. Kinda tacky.\
I thought last years winner Lauren was the best of the night.\
Mariko seems very sweet.\
Why is Mark Ballas on my tv again?\
I''m tired of contemporary dancing and the duck feet. I want disco.\
Will this show ever be put out to pasture?
Stuff a leg warmer in it, R127. You''re an asshole.
Bob Fosse''s fedora
That last gumshoe stomping routine was a horrorshow, and none of the judges had the balls to call it out. I guess they didn''t want to end on a downer.\
They really overwork those kids too much with 4 (well 5 really, if you count Thursday''s group opening number) routines.\
It''s funny that Kenny seemed very reluctant to "give" Melanie a role on "Dirty Dancing".\
Melanie seems to be the body type that the more you work her, the more muscle she gets in her thighs and ass, while Sasha loses weight.\
It''ll be Melanie, Sasha, Marco then Tadd. Probably Sasha and Tadd will be working the most after this. And I hope that Cat wins an Emmy.
Why were the judges so rude to Mark Ballas last night? They didn''t even mention or thank him.
Sasha has referred so many times to the rough life and many problems she''s overcome. What is she referring to? A lot of the contestants this year have overcome tragedy. Is her situation much worse?
Yay! The little fat girl won!
Is this a new show? Never heard of it.
so pissed that fiction won. the little shrimp can't dance.
Cat Deeley? She's still alive?
Really, Bruno? Your show never won an Emmy for choreography until this year. We have seven.
