I predict a "remake" in the form of a movie musical in 2015. American cast playing Australian.
Australian actors with American accents playing Australians.
I''ve predicted this too, OP, but on Broadway.
No need for a remake: the original is perfect but it belongs to another time.
I always thought that it was odd that no one noticed Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce had facial wasting. It was very noticable on Hugo.
R2, you should sell that idea to Bette Midler.
"American cast playing Australian."
Like Thorn Birds.
Speaking of ... how many people do you suppose realized that the ladies on the bus in that Coca Cola Superbowl commercial were men? Not too many, I suspect.
It really does belong to another time, as r3 said. It's very, very dated.
Doesn't translate well to the 21st Century.
Does it need to R8?
It's a classic gay movie. Perhaps the most famous, mainstream and sucessful of all gay movies.
It's already a Broadway musical!
I didn't see the Coke commercial.

I saw the movie two days ago, R4. Hugo weaving has a weird face and Guy Pierce had none in the movie. Besides, what is your fucking obsession with facial wasting? Projecting to make yourself feel better? Love yourself. Worry about your own face.
Maybe Nick Adams will reprise his Broadway role...
Will I be too old for the Terence Stamp part? I still have my Edna Turnblad heels.
