On the set of the movie "The Big Hit" shot in Toronto, Mark Wahlberg was doing do much coke, they had to shut down the set for nearly a week while he straighten up. He was sending the driver out to keep getting him more and the director had to fire the driver before he got it to stop. I saw him messed up with this spaced out female both sitting in the trailer yelling for the driver to come back with more coke. He looked like he had thrown up over himself and obviously he was mixing the coke with something that was slurring his speech. What a vile person he was to everyone on set, worse that day.

Christopher Walken was hired to play the father in one of James Gray's movies. The day he arrived on set, he was so drunk he couldn't remember his lines. He was fired and then replaced with Duvall. The official explanation was "scheduling difficulties."

Garrett Hedlund and La Goop got it on during "Country Strong". Megan Fox and Josh Brolin as well during "Jonah Hex".

I remember that Jonah Hex story. The production office was pissed off at Brolin's driver, whom they accused of padding his hours. He was told to drive Brolin & make sure he got to his hotel. When they asked him about the hours, he said he would drive to Fox's, where Brolin would spend the night, wait for him, then drive him home or to the set. They never complained about the hours after that.

Back in the day, Ewan MacGregor and Christian Bale hooked up, with a lot of drugs thrown in, on the set of Velvet Goldmine.

Here's David O Russell blowing up at Lily Tomlin on the set of "I Heart Huckabees". This guy is a nasty piece of work. His behavior with extras on "Three Kings" was so bad, Clooney actually threatened him with physical violence.

I don't know r17, but I think it's safe to assume that's why he took the role. I remember him implying that when he trashed the movie they did together (Passion Play). I think I read it on d-listed. Ironically, if I had to pick a role related hook-up, I'd rather fuck Michael Bay than Mickey Rourke-he's nasty in a sweaty BO way. Bay is just a (sexy) douchebag. He apparently fired her because she refused to sleep with him during the 2nd Transformers. Not super juicy - just another story of why Tom Cruise is fucking WEIRD.

A guy (Dominic) - a British actor - that crashed with me for awhile in L.A. - was called in last minute to audition for Eyes Wide Shut. He flew out from L.A. to London for it. He had worked with the casting director before, and was told to show up in an expensive suit. He has a very 'VIP' type of look anyway, and a 'Royal Family' type of accent.

So he shows up at the offices, has a seat, and starts reading his newspaper - and Cruise spots him. Thinking Dominic WAS some sort of VIP, Cruise 'lit up', purposely strode over to shake hands, introduced himself, and took a seat across from Dominic. From there, Cruise made friendly small talk. Dominic said it was like having a very intense and enthusiastic babysitter that was very much about eye contact.

Then the casting director walked in and said Hello. When Cruise realized that Dominic was just another actor, he 'switched off'. Seriously - that's how Dominic described it. He's 'on' when he thinks he is speaking to a VIP - then it's like an actual switch. Everything changes about him.

Cruise stood up and left the room without speaking to either of them.

Hate to disappoint earlier poster -- but worked as actor on "Walk the Line" and was amazed that nobody, from Teamster to Wardrobe, had anything bad to say about Reese Witherspoon. OK- I worked with a camera guy who worked on Bale's Terminator- he said that the Cinematographer (whom Bale ranted on) was really abusive to his crew- Bale was tired of seeing that, so when the guy actually fucked up (you NEVER move around lights during a take), he took the opportunity to ream him, which the crew was thankful for.

I've worked with both Wilson brothers- Owen is more demanding of his hair/makeup/wardrobe people and Luke just his wardrobe people. Luke is quite protective of his hair person- when a commercial director yelled at her for going in to fix Luke's hair on a green screen shot, Luke decided not to work with him again- that director lost the ATT account.

When I worked with Method Man (of all people), he said (unsolicited) how great Reese and her husband was.

Phillipe has the most amazing genes known to man- he still looks like he's in his early 20's-honestly, the guy glows. He was very quiet, but I kidded him on his accent.

A friend on mine worked with Paz on a photo shoot- there was coke and ecstasy everywhere- the whole crew was high (with the exception of my friend, who is in AA and Meth Anon). When Paz (also high) found out that he was sober, she announced to the whole crew to clear out the drugs and not to do any in front of him. He really appreciated this, but says that she's still a mess despite that.

Another friend worked with Tanmmy (pre-couch)- she was his dresser. Said that when she works with people, she usually uses gloves or tongs to pick up their sweaty underwear/socks/clothes after they take them off. Tammy would not allow her to do that- she had to use her hands to pick up all his dirty, sweat-filled (stunts) clothing that he left lying all over the floor of his trailer.

R66, I worked as crew on MAID IN MANHATTAN and J-Lo was positively LOATHED by everybody. We also loathed that fat bitch Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas who was the producer.

Kristen Stewart was an absolute bitch during the making of Twilight. Robert Pattinson was nice but not exactly the brightest bulb in the lamp, and quite literally falling-down-drunk more than once. Nikki Reed was a sweetheart and Taylor Lautner pinged like no one I've ever seen before or since.

This is hardly current, but a friend of mine who was in the cast of "SeaQuest" said that actor Roy Scheider was loathed by everyone. Apparently, Scheider was a mean-spirited, petty man who made the working environment toxic.

James Mangold - great guy, great director, totally snubbed that year at Oscars and not sure why. The opposite of intimidating, no fuss, crew seemed to adore him too. And Joaquim Phoenix mostly stared ahead and did his Beavis and Butthead laugh if you talked to him -- but at least he was far from a jerk. Two days later (I was near end of shoot) he went to some rehab, which surprised me since he didn't seem to be a mess. Or maybe all that was off the set and he was a total pro on it.%0D One funny thing: we all had to lie about our heights in audition, apparently they wouldn't hire anyone over 5'8" or something. Joaquim wasn't particularly short at all -- but guess the real Cash was so tall, they wanted that illusion. So we all shaved off inches in a way I hadn't before.%0D As for Wilsons, other poster covered it. But general response was "a**holes" all around. (And, indeed, from wardrobe and hair people).%0D Think Elaine Goldsmith was a big agent first (J.Lo's?) so that explains that, ha.

Pattinson always appears drunk or on drugs. No suprise about Stewart, she is such a bad actress she can't hide what a bitch she is even when she has to do press and yet people try to tell she is just shy.

I was on the set of Scream 4 when they filmed in MI. Not much gossip since everything already came out, but I saw Courtney throw something in frustration, I thought it was part of a scene but then everyone got real quiet and she was sort of storming around like a black cloud after that with everyone else being sure to stay clear of her.

Didn't get to talk to anyone since we were instructed not to, but one of the cast members turned to the crowed and made a few jokes as if he were a tour guide at a wild life exhibit and Courtney was an exotic animal.

P.S I might be in the book store scene, but I never saw a camera pointed in my direction so probably not.

I have a friend who dated women under 26 until he was 45. Then he finally married a 26 year old. I think some men just like to feel superior to women they're with; in a sense they're always the 'smarter' ones, because they've experienced more in life. It also means they don't have to grow up. This was eons ago, but the posts about Goldie made me remember my ex's friend who was a movie extra who worked with Goldie on a film in Vancouver -- can't remember -- maybe Bird on a Wire with Smell Gibson I think?

Anyway, he said she was really nice and would talk to the extras etc. and this guy, Mike, had a big slobbery dog that he couldn't control well and one time it jumped up on Goldie who was wearing a light colored outfit -- mud all over. I would have freaked but Mike said Goldie loved animals and was nice about it. He paid for her dry cleaning and bought her lunch.

I'm still trying to figure out Whalberg -- is he in denial about being gay so much that he's just a violent nut??? On most film sets "the crew" is largely concerned with eating all the bear claws and getting the last burrito from craft services. These morons usually don't even know what the story is and have likely not read the script. Even though they might be on set or within close proximity, they're still light years away from the core creative decision making. They're basically a bunch of low-paid cretins whose speciality is holding a boom mike - if they're really skilled sometimes they manage to keep it out of shot.

They don't know what acting is or have any understanding of the pressure an actor feels on set to deliver on set. And they're hardly the salt of the earth everyone tries to make them out to be - like they're opinion of people they don't even know is somehow substantially informed and un-biased. Most anyone can do they're job - they're distracting and stupid and if they worked in the cubicle next to you instead of on a film set you'd loathe them too. They never know when to shut up.

Actors can't stand around wasting all they're energy and focus talking to these idiots - you have to save it for the camera. The most important thing for an actor on set is to be ready to work once the crew is done screwing around and fucking things up.

There are exceptions to everything but when you're on set you have to protect yourself - when the director yells "Action!" you have to deliver. Just as when the crew is doing their job you wouldn't expect them to give their devoted attention to some actor talking about their favourite episode of 24 and the bucket of chicken they ate last night.

Reese Witherspoon probably made that remark because there were a bunch of extras making noise and distraction outside her trailer while she was trying to prepare. It's just nerve-wracking and uncalled for but that's what you're dealing with - a bunch of stupid idiots who can't control themselves and never shut the fuck up.

There is always a middle ground but it's unfair to actors that idle, petty minds make up all this vicious gossip do they can feel more a part of things than they really are. There is a huge context here that is unknown and/or completely ignored.

I've posted this at least once before, but a friend acted with Nicole Kidman on the set of an HBO movie about Hemingway shot in SF earlier this year. He said she was very down to earth and had a great sense of humor, and stunningly beautiful. The cast and crew were admonished not to talk to the principal actors because they needed to focus on their roles, but that she would clown around with the crew but could zap into her intense character in an instant. Meanwhile, her co-star (whose name I forget) who played Hemingway, remained in character (a drunken asshole) for the entire duration of the shoot, but was totally "normal" and reasonably friendly (if not shy) after the filming.

I think some of you, in order to appear knowledgeable, talk about "meth heads" in the most unrealistic way. Meth is highly addictive.

You may start out intending to use it recreationally, but you can't, it's so very addictive, you cannot do anything else. You cannot work, or remember lines, you cannot eat, you are too busy to bathe or do anything basic to normal existence let alone hold down a job.

The deterioration is pretty rapid. In less than three years you can go from a recreational user to a fullblown addict needing higher and higher dosages. You'll be one of those: I have no fingernails and I'm losing my teeth and hair type addict.

Between years three and five you will break out in sores and become unrecognizeable. So when you tell me Cameron Diaz or Ewan McGregor or Christian Bale are into Meth I have to tell you, you're full of it.

Cocaine, yes. Using a hookah to do other forms of H or hashish or whatever, yes. Tell me Cameron is doing drugs, smokes Coke, or H, and is a pothead, I will agree with you. But no. Not a meth head. None of them. And there are a lot of ways to injest Heroin besides injecting it.

There was a strong suggestion at the time by crew I'm close with (they have have worked on ton of locations) that Sharon Stone hatefucked Gillian Anderson on The Mighty. Garrett Hedlund is nice to look at in Country Strong and he gave a nice performance but his acting is usually atrocious and he has a boring personality.

I used to live in Paris and saw Mathieu Amalric once by accident. All I can say is his hair seems to be naturally very greasy. Other than that and despite his numerous assertions to the contrary ("I'm not an actor, I'm a director"), he's a very good actor, and has only gotten better with every decade.

Based on the roles he does, I've wondered if he isn't hugely conflicted and doesn't have a substance abuse/drinking problem (which might explain the terrible hair). Good for him he seems to exercise a lot as well. Whatever the case, he must be doing something right, or was at the right place at the right time and went from there. For a reluctant actor, he certainly keeps himself busy, and isn't too crappy, either.

When Hugh Jackman was doing his one man show in Toronto back in 2011 he was staying at the Hazelton Lanes Hotel in Yorkville where my sister was a Manager at the time. He rented two large suites. One for himself and his male personal trainer, the other suite was on another floor was for his wife, their female nanny and children. I worked on the Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis sets in Vancouver as a script assistant. The SG-1 set was a lot of fun and the cast all got along fairly well. I would say that Teryl Rothery who played Dr. Fraser was my favorite cast member and Michael Shanks was my least favorite. Michael was a bit of a whiner always complaining about something. They only real gossip is that when Michael left the show they brought in Corin Nemec and everyone hated him particularly Richard Dean Anderson. You'll notice RDA's scene with Corin became fewer and fewer as the season went on.

I hated working on Atlantis. There was a lot of tension between various cast members. I liked Torri Higginson she's got a dirty mouth in a good way. Paul McGillion was really nice to work with. Joe Flanigan I didn't like he was bit of a douche in a republican praise Jesus kind of way. Jason Momoa was a moron I'm surprised he could read a script.
