Royals and Interracial Relationships\
I'll ask this as delicately as possible:
Even though more and more royals are marrying commoners, are they unofficially prohibited from marrying outside of their race? For instance, the British royals have always had close relationships with people in African nations, so what would happen if Prince Harry were to marry a black woman? Or an Asian princess? The question applies across the board; whether the monarchy is in Europe, Africa, or Asia, is there a protocol when it comes to race? Also, Prince Albert of Monaco has a child with an African woman (who's child is the rightful heir to the Monegasque throne), but marrying her was never an option and financial support has been provided in lieu of parental involvement (note, I say rightful heir only in the sense that the kid is the firstborn son of the sovereign monarch of Monaco....I recognize that he's illegitimate in the eyes of a Roman Catholic nation).
I honestly don't believe it'd be a big deal in the U.S., but I can see it being a problem in a country where the population is more homogenous.
- [quote](note, I say rightful heir only in the sense that the kid is the firstborn son of the sovereign monarch of Monaco....I recognize that he''s illegitimate in the eyes of a Roman Catholic nation). \
\
He''s not "the rightful heir" in any sense of the term whatsoever. The Prince would have to be married to the mother for the child to be the rightful heir in ANY sense, Catholic church be damned.\
\
Yet again, another stupid race baiting thread based on ridiculous and unfounded assumptions. Don''t you have better things to do with your time?
- R1, you're an unhinged asshole.
I came across a more thoughtful response from the linked website:
In this particular case, it's not quite that simple. Monaco is unusual in that it recognises that illegitimate children born to the Grimaldis can be retrospectively legitimised, particularly if the parents subsequently marry, thus entitling them to inherit the throne.
There is a reason for this. At the time of her birth Prince Rainer's mother, Charlotte Louvet, was illegitimate. Only later was she adopted by her father, Louis II, and declared legitimate. Had she not stepped aside in Rainer's favour, she would have succeeded to the throne on her father's death in 1949. They had to do this because, under the terms of the Franco-Monegasque of 1861, Monaco would have become part of France had Louis II not had any legitimate children. The change to the rules of succession in 2002 removed that particular problem, but their earlier difficulties mean that the Grimaldis are rather more flexible than most royal families about such things.
Not that Prince Albert has given any indication that he intends to legitimise this son.

You stand corrected.

- one of the princes of liechtenstein married a black woman from panama. she''s now princess angela of liechtenstein.
- One of one the royal journalists was saying how this new generation is allowed to marry who they want. That the British royal family learned from their mistake with Diana when Charles had to marry a white, anglo-saxon virgin. Besides the virgin part, Kate Middleton seems to fit the mold. Forget about race, imagine William brought home someone Jewish, Muslim or even Catholic? No way would that fly.
- One of the Danish princes was married to half-Chinese woman.

Correct me if I''m wrong but isn''t Camilla Catholic?%0D\

Also, Prince Harry is/was rumoured to have a very secret affair with a rich Oxford student from Nigeria.
- Oh, and Prince Willams'' former girlfriend is African (Kenyan), but white. They were actually staying at her father''s ranch when he proposed to Kate.
- Here is Princess Angela of Liechtenstein with her husband, Prince Maximilian. \

She is very beautiful and they seem happy.

- Actually, don''t the British royal family have some legal restrictions on marrying outside their faith? I forget the details, but the monarch is the official head of the Church of England, and when Charles got married for the first time there was something no catholics being allowed.%0D\
%0D\
Has that restriction been dropped?
- R8, I was going to post about that couple...they have cute son.

- Camilla is not a Catholic. That wouldn''t fly. He would have had to renounce his place in line should he have done that...as Prince Michael of Kent had to.
- Camilla is not Catholic, but her ex-husband is, and their children were raised Catholic.
- God, who cares people? Carrying on about monarchies that enslaved peasants and use the Church to further their wealth? Worse than Republicans. Don''t buy into the romanticized fantasies.

Do you spend all day here hoping to find threads where you can hurl your racist accusations? You missed the thread where the guy''s computer turns white when there''s a slow download. You need to rush over there and stir the pot.

What a mistake that was. Not renouncing his place in line, just the fact that he married that harridan. Princess Michael of Kent is sure to try to upstage everyone else at the wedding. Does she get along with any royals in all of Europe?
- Thanks for the addition to my vocab.
- Is that really her, R15? She has got some horseteeth.
- Also, Prince Harry is/was rumoured to have a very secret affair with a rich Oxford student from Nigeria.\

Isn''t his on-again/off-again girlfriend, the oh so unattractive Chelsy from Zimbabwe?\
\
I also didn''t think that was the mother of Prince Albert''s son, but it is. There are better pictures of her and she''s still not attractive.
- Here''s Princess Alexandra of Denmark, now Countess since they got divorced. Her father is half Chinese.\

Isn''t the most hated European royal CP Mary? Or is that just on the internet?

- I think the only restriction that English royals have (if they wish to stay in the line of succession) is they cannot marry a Catholic.
- Well if the Queen had her way, she would have had a go at Michelle Obama the last time they visited England. She was groping Michelle every two seconds. Very obvious lesbian tendencies on show there. But the Queef always looked like a muff diver.%0D\

- R21 is correct. \
\
They can actually marry a Jew or Muslim or any other religion, but I suspect the kids would need to be raised as members of the Church of England. The only problem would be a Catholic because of the history between the two churches. As the head of the Church of England, it would be unacceptable for the future King/Queen to marry a Catholic.
- OP, it definitely would be a big deal in the US. In fact it would be a dealbreaker. Obama is considered black even though his mother was white. He has a black wife. If a white person running for office had a black spouse (or vice versa), that person likely would not get the nomination, and, if nominated, would lose probably over the interracial issue.

Anne Boleyn wielded a lot of influence in her first year as Queen and really made the big push to widen the gap between Henry and the Pope.
- "Honestly, I don''t know what to make of it, doctor. Each night she begins murmuring in her sleep, when all of the sudden she arches her back and yells out, "Mandingo!!!" It''s most peculiar, if you ask me. Most peculiar indeed."
His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, 18 Jan 1953
- I agree r24. I actually think Obama would have lost the black vote if his wife was white.
- Would it be an issue if the heir to the throne married a Catholic who had converted to the C of E before marriage?
- What if Obama looked more white than black and was married to a white woman?
- The royals of Lichtenstein are private people but there are never any articles about them. The white media probably doesn't want to get into that. It is a deep and real love though.
The Royals of England had to change their rules after so many married according to the rules and not love. Can you imagine learning your parents really didn't love one another and didn't grow to love one another? Charles and Diana were a disaster.
Also, as stories go, there are rumors they did not want Diana marrying Dodi, a Muslim. She found love with men of color though, Dr. Khan & Dodi. Khan being the love of her life.
No one can tell me those partying white royals have never had a girlfriend of color, even secretly.
- What about gay royals in the future? Would there be controversy if an Black prince married a white man?
- *a black prince

- Lord Snowdon, Princess Margaret's husband, was half Jewish. Lord Freddy Windsor's mother, I believe, is of Jewish descent.
- Until recently marriage among royals were political alliances or business relationships. Royals only married other royals in order to keep the blood line pure. Exceptions to the rule -- like four of Henry VIII's marriages or French King Henri II's marriage to Catherine de Medici (from a Tuscan bourgeois family) were few and far between.
The Empress Carlota
- [quote]imagine William brought home someone Jewish
He did -- I remember a bunch of happy rabbis announcing it and tracing the line for the media. They were all quite proud that a future ruler of England would be Jewish.
Not "part Jewish."
