Richard Gere gossip

My God, he is so sexy. What is the gossip, besides the gerbil shit Stallone made up?%0D %0D

by Anonymousreply 62February 18, 2020 3:18 AM

Don't know why the Academy ignores him. "An Officer and A Gentleman" recieved six Oscar nominations including Debra Winger and a win for Lou Gossett Jr. and for "Chicago" everyone, Zellweger , Zeta-Jones, Reilly & Latifah was nominated but him, while he won the Golden Globe.

by Anonymousreply 1March 27, 2011 4:57 AM

Gay and was in a mutual bearding relationship with Cindy Crawford. Massive drama queen on the set. Bad hair.

by Anonymousreply 2March 27, 2011 6:19 AM

Is his wife of 8 years that he has a son with also a beard?

by Anonymousreply 3March 27, 2011 6:25 AM

Yup.

by Anonymousreply 4March 27, 2011 6:49 AM

R2 is crazy - Cindy Crawford is not gay.%0D %0D She is very hetero, has a long-time husband, and two gorgeous, extremely good looking kids.

by Anonymousreply 5March 27, 2011 6:55 AM

love, love, love the movie 'Unfaithful' and love Richard Gere in it

by Anonymousreply 6March 27, 2011 6:57 AM

He does well in "yes, i'm present" roles - Days of Heaven, American Gigolo, Pretty Woman, etc. He's just... there. You are allowed to photograph him in correct make up and costume and he's so good looking that its enough for the role. He'll hit his marks and say the lines.

by Anonymousreply 7March 27, 2011 6:59 AM

Agree with r7. He's good-looking, but there's absolutely nothing compelling about him at all. Almost a complete void on screen.

by Anonymousreply 8March 27, 2011 7:27 AM

I have to agree. I love the movie "Unfaithful" too, and Richard Gere is still very goodlooking, but he is just kind of dull in it. You can see why the wife character would cheat on him even though he seems so perfect.%0D %0D Just an aside, does anyone believe that Diane Lane and Richard Gere would have produced a child as unattractive as little Dewey?

by Anonymousreply 9March 27, 2011 7:35 AM

R3, so the kid he had with his current wife is not his? Or is he bisexual perhaps? Or IVF?

by Anonymousreply 10March 27, 2011 7:42 AM

My Total Guilty Pleasure, "Shall We Dance".

by Anonymousreply 11March 27, 2011 11:54 AM

My ex (a guy) was a director of client services at Christie's Auction House in the late 80s. He dealt with celebrities all the time, and he said the one who was the most flirtatious was Richard Gere. Definitely got at least "bi" vibes from him.

by Anonymousreply 12March 27, 2011 12:11 PM

Bisexual, mostly straight, a big party boy in his early days, which included a lot of gay sex, now a happily married man.

by Anonymousreply 13March 27, 2011 12:20 PM

He was terrific and SOO sexy in "Looking for Mr. Goodbar."

by Anonymousreply 14March 27, 2011 12:48 PM

How could a guy who enjoyed a lot of gay sex be happily married to a woman R13?.

by Anonymousreply 15March 27, 2011 12:58 PM

My brother sat next to him in first class on a cross country flight several years ago. He said he was very femmy and gay acting on the plane. My guess is bi.

by Anonymousreply 16March 27, 2011 1:06 PM

He's SUPPOSED to be "dull" in "Unfaithful." Until the rage.

by Anonymousreply 17March 27, 2011 1:13 PM

I totally agree, r11! %0D %0D And the supporting cast is brilliant!

by Anonymousreply 18March 27, 2011 1:14 PM

why couldn't a guy who enjoyed a lot of sex, with men and women, be happily married? The fact that he enjoyed sex with men doesn't mean he also didn't enjoy sex with women. The ability to enjoy sex is an excellent ingredient for a marriage. And bisexuality is not inconsistent with marriageability.

by Anonymousreply 19March 27, 2011 1:22 PM

I met him once when I was a store clerk. He flirted with me sweetly and endearingly.

I doubt he intended to pick me up, but I think he just enjoyed the game.

(Oh, and I am one of those male type persons with a penis and such. So if I am right, he was flirting with a guy, which is kinda... gay.)

by Anonymousreply 20March 27, 2011 1:27 PM

I saw a clip of him at some pre-season baseball game where he threw out the first pitch. I didn't recognize it was him until he sat down and they showed a close-up. He looked like spindly, hunched-over old man with these gigantic glasses that had coke-bottle lenses. Totally not my Officer & a Gentleman fantasy. But yeah - I know - we all get old.

by Anonymousreply 21March 27, 2011 1:52 PM

He has a spectacular ass (or at least he used to). And I should know, I went up it...

by Anonymousreply 22March 27, 2011 1:59 PM

I now remember who James Franco reminds me of.

Fun fact: His wife is Tom Hank's first wife in Sleepless in Seattle. The ghost who says can I have half your beer.

by Anonymousreply 25March 28, 2011 3:08 AM

I thought this was about gossip - not his acting ability. Where of where have all the DL gossips gone? And yes, gay men do marry women. And they do have children with the wife. From Andre Gide - who had 5 kids, I think - to the childless but happily married Cole Porter and his wife Linda. This is old old news - have all the gay men left DL?

by Anonymousreply 26March 28, 2011 3:11 AM

Richard Gere is not Gay. Cindy Crawford is not lez.

by Anonymousreply 27March 28, 2011 3:12 AM

He was so fucking sexy as the corrupt cop in Internal Affairs with Andy Garcia. There's one scene where he's being interviewed by a middle-aged husband and younger wife in a restaurant about working security for them. While he's talking to the husband, he's finger fucking the wife under the table. Very hot!

by Anonymousreply 28March 28, 2011 3:14 AM

I've met him and he is a super nice person. I wonder why a nice person like him gets these horrible rumors attached to him while violent, racist, homophobic pricks like Mark Wahlberg skate through life getting multimillion dollar HBO deals and Scorcese movies.

by Anonymousreply 29March 28, 2011 3:15 AM

The quiet sadness he brought to his character in "And The Band Played On."

by Anonymousreply 30March 28, 2011 3:34 AM

[quote]He was so fucking sexy as the corrupt cop in Internal Affairs with Andy Garcia.

That's some of his best work. He, Garcia, and Laurie Metcalf really make that one worth watching again.

by Anonymousreply 31March 28, 2011 3:37 AM

He's about to start shooting a movie in New York with Susan Sarandon called ARBITRAGE.

I always maintain that he would not have entered into a "genuine" marriage with the likes of Cindy Crawford who, though well-educated is dull as dishwater. However he was experiencing a genuine downturn in his career at the time and needed her name to pump up his profile again.

by Anonymousreply 32March 28, 2011 4:12 AM

Carey Lowell is hot! There.

by Anonymousreply 33March 28, 2011 4:49 AM

[quote]And yes, gay men do marry women. And they do have children with the wife.

Well, bisexual men do that.

by Anonymousreply 34March 28, 2011 4:56 AM

[quote]The quiet sadness he brought to his character in "And The Band Played On." And he was the first big name to sign on to that film - no one else had the balls to be associated with it. After he was attached to the project, other stars starting taking roles. He has never shied from gay-themed material - at the height of his first flush of leading man stardom with American Gigolo, he was appearing on Broadway in Martin Sherman's Bent - and refusing to entertain the press's gushing that he was taking a big risk. Has a gay brother, David, whom he has always been very supportive of.

by Anonymousreply 35March 28, 2011 7:00 AM

He strikes me as one of those straight guys who like to flirt with gay men for the attention because he is confident enough about himself that he knows nothing is going to happen.

Alec Baldwin is another one.

by Anonymousreply 36March 28, 2011 9:11 AM

He was SO sexy in "Internal Affairs" I swear I came in my pants watching him. God was he hot.

I used to have a huge crush on him years ago. When I was doing regional theater back in the late 1980s, I got picked up in a local bar by a guy who looked like Gere's doppelganger. This was great because when we were going at it later, I just imagined I was doing it with Gere.

by Anonymousreply 37March 30, 2011 2:40 AM

Didn't Gere supposedly have a relationship with the avante-garde theater director Robert Wilson in the mid 70's?

by Anonymousreply 38April 10, 2011 9:04 PM

I think he's at least Bi. Below is a blind item about a women who is Bi and the majority of the guesses is Cindy Crawford. I think they had an open marriage.

He really is...sexy. Maybe even sexier as a geezer.

by Anonymousreply 40September 15, 2014 2:12 PM

Richard Gere descended from the Mayflower.

The Gerbil thing is false, but not the part when the man goes up into the man.

R11, laughed out loud at "yes, I'm present" roles.

Yep, he was awful in Gigolo, Days of Heaven, Pretty Woman.

Pauline Kael mocked him to no end when he was first in Goodbar.

I mean, it happens, plenty of good looking people who are not great actors get Hollywood careers.

by Anonymousreply 44January 12, 2018 6:48 PM

My bad, I meant R7.

by Anonymousreply 45January 12, 2018 6:49 PM

The Japanese version of SHALL WE DANCE is so much better.

It's true, watch it.

by Anonymousreply 46January 12, 2018 6:57 PM

Rex Reed has never given Richard Gere a bad review and that is because RG agreed to fuck RR in exchange.

by Anonymousreply 47January 12, 2018 8:00 PM

Richard Gere is straight (R2 and others), now he's married with a spanish woman Alejandra Silva (36 years old and he is 68 years old) and they are going to have baby, by natural way, she is pregnant (they don't have a child through surrogacy...). So yes, he is straight and don't see why he would use a "beard" at 68 years old!!!!

by Anonymousreply 48August 18, 2018 2:27 PM

On the news, it was said he may have political aspirations.. maybe Congress?

by Anonymousreply 49August 18, 2018 2:55 PM

The problem is the following : when you read all the threads on Data Lounge, it seems that all the actors are gay and straight actors, or famous men, don't exist...very weird and difficult to believe.

by Anonymousreply 50August 18, 2018 3:00 PM

Me too R6, I sat on the edge of my seat for most of the movie. Also The young hot French actor was at his peak too (Olivier LeFrenchsomething). What a hottie.

by Anonymousreply 51August 18, 2018 3:08 PM

Have never understood his appeal. He’s a squinty eyed, flat bore who does boring roles. Not that good looking either.

by Anonymousreply 52August 18, 2018 4:10 PM

I thought he was so so so so hot in his heyday when I saw his images on magazine covers or articles. My "type" down to a t - coloring, face, body. Finally got around to seeing one of his movies and what a let down. No charisma at all. No sexual energy at all. I haven't seen many of his films, only a few, and they're random (Goodbar, Pretty Woman, an Officer and a Gentleman) and he has no sexuality on film whatsoever.

Another who is like this is Russell Crowe in his prime. I assumed he was sort of a Richard Burton type with an extra infusion of testosterone and power. Saw him in two movies, finally (not Gladiator). No wonder he faded fast. The self-pity! The tedium! The self-protection! And in one of the films he never shaved his neck and there were a lot of shots of the back of his head. Ick.

by Anonymousreply 53August 18, 2018 4:17 PM

R53, yup. Read Pauline Kael's review of "Goodbar." She did not think much of Gere!

by Anonymousreply 54August 27, 2018 5:32 PM

WAS sexy, OP.

by Anonymousreply 55August 27, 2018 5:36 PM

Do people really think La Gere is straight?

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

by Anonymousreply 56August 27, 2018 5:38 PM

I know 2 gay men (extremely good looking at the time) who had sex with him in the 70s. Both of them were models (although one was also a dentist.)

He seemed to "evolve" after that. Who knows?

by Anonymousreply 57August 27, 2018 5:51 PM

He married a young wife so she take care of him in his old age.

by Anonymousreply 58August 27, 2018 6:05 PM

I cannot believe some of the posters actually believe he is straight and that Cindy is straight. They are not! not 100%

by Anonymousreply 59August 27, 2018 6:05 PM

R12 I always heard Gere is bisexual as well, and that Cindy is also bisexual R59.

by Anonymousreply 60December 1, 2018 11:18 AM

R57 what did they do sexually with him? If they were hookers as most "models" are, why did they tell you about their famous tricks?

by Anonymousreply 61December 1, 2018 11:20 AM

R13 I always heard Richard is bisexual as well. There was the rumor that he and Cindy were bearding for each other; but I know a bisexual man who was part of Cindy's entourage in NYC in the 1980s and he never said how she is lesbian but said how they would all take ecstasy which was legal at the time, hit the clubs/discos, and use lots of coke and get very drunk but this should not surprise anyone. He quit this lifestyle in his late 20s as he knew that if he continued he would wind up HIV+, or die from too many drugs but he said Cindy never stopped.
