As for Anjelica Huston...well, she had no problem with her friend's fetish. "He just likes young girls", she once said by way of explanation.

I watched an A&E biography on the Hustons. That show always goes for diplomatic and putting the best face on things, but even still John Huston emerged as a fucked up father and husband. - Someone needs to read the Smoking Gun documents which include her grand Jury testimony. She was contradictory about some things and sounded coached about others.

By coincidence I watched an interview of Polanski by some Irish guy the other night and Polanski does get that he was wrong and says that at the time of the offense he just didn't see it as wrong. The interview was quite some time ago.
