The silent movies had lots of beautiful men but that type didn''t reappear until after WWII with Guy Madison and then Tab Hunter leading the pack.

- Jeffrey Hunter
- R37, I''m glad you mentioned Patrick Fabian. He is a perfect example of someone who was attractive when he was younger (hot as a teacher on "Saved By the Bell") and continues to be handsome as he ages.
- Benedict Cumberbatch.
- Paul Walker for sure. Wish he could act as good as he looks. Or that he''d just get over the ''serious actor'' thing and get in as many movies as possible where he stares longingly at the camera, and takes off as many clothes as possible for as long as possible.%0D
- There must be something wrong with me, because I don''t think Monty Clift was good-looking at all. To me, he was a scrawny little guy with narrow shoulders and a head too big for his body. On the other hand, Tab Hunter was gorgeous and a young Gary Cooper was beautiful.
- I first saw Patrick Fabian playing a gay high school teacher on General Hospital. Why did none of my teachers ever look like that?
- Paul Newman. %0D\

Period.
- Having just discovered him on YouTube from his 1970 strange interview with Dick Cavett, I agree with an earlier poster about the remarkable beauty of Mark Frechette (even with very bad teeth), who died in prison some 5 years later.

- Maximilian Schell
- David Manners. He was the male lead in many important films in the early 30''s A Bill of Divorcement, The Mummy, Dracula, etc. Stunning to look at and smart enough to leave Hollywood after six or seven years and start a new career as an author. Also a distant member of the royal family.
- Jared Leto peaked in Lord of War. Other than in Alexander this was the only time he allowed himself to look healthy, and it looked good!%0D\

%0D\
Later an older Jaeckle was nominated for an Oscar for "Sometimes a Great Notion" -- where he gave us the most disturbing death scene ever filmed, if you ask me. I can''t believe only one other poster has suggested him.

I love Rock Hudson in his younger days but he''s handsome rather than beautiful.

Tyrone Power
Errol Flynn
William Holden
Mel Gibson (what a waste of looks & talent)

- R178, you are a douchebag. And you have no sense of humor. Get to bed; you have school tomorrow.
- Put me down for Rock Hudson, with Paul Newman as a VERY close second!!
- Another one for the young Elvis Presley.
James Dean would be a close second.
- R178, in asking for someone from this century are you wanting a list of beauties under the age of 12, you idiot?
I'm guessing you are at least - well, mental deficiency is really something that someone like you carries throughout life, regardless of age.
- Jean-Paul Belmondo is absurdly beautiful.
These days my #1 is Javier Bardem.
- I agree with R21. Tyrone Power had quite an unremarkable face.
Mongomery Clift, Franco Nero and Alain Delon absolutely up there as the most stunningly beautiful men of all time.
- Fabio
- Monty, of course. And James Dean. Great faces. Belmondo has a great face and also a beautiful body.
- Feminizing men by describing them as beautiful is repulsive. So is plucking their body hair and posing them in girlish poses.
- Jesus Christ. OP isn't just an eldergay, he's an ancient eldergay!
Zachary Quinto. Now there's a man.
- TEAM TAB HUNTER! (Doesn't Davis Mallory look A LOT like him BTW?)

- r187 seriously hates women
- Apart from Vittorio Gassman other European hotties include the terrific Raf Vallone, Renato Salvatore, Hardy Kruger, Gerard Blain, Maurice Ronet, and the very pretty Jean Sorel.
Part of the reason for the failure of Dassin's Phaedra was because it was impossible to believe that Melina Merouri would leave Raf Vallone for the young Tony Perkins. Ditto Goodbye Again where Ingrid Bergman leaves Yves Montand for the young Tony Perkins.
- timothy dalton
- I was watching a crazy movie called Stars and Stripes Forever last night on TCM - and Robert Wagner was stunning to look at....made in 1952.
His skin was perfect, his hair beautiful, and his smile was stunning.
A still photograph can't really display a person to his best advantage.
There were a lot of nice looking men in the movies from the time they started - and there are so good looking boys in the movies now...but I have to mention Robert....
Can't really find a photo that shows him off...but here is a beginning.

- I just watched a couple of pre codes with David Manners--Man Wanted with Kay Francis and They Call it Sin with Loretta Young. He was simply stunning to look at and he had a nice light comedy flair. Also read he quit Hollywood in 1936, did some stage work and wrote books and was partnered with the same man for 50-60 years. And like William Haines, he resisted pressure from studio bosses to marry a woman.
- This ends the argument.

- I vote for Alain Delon (see Purple Noon if you have any doubts). To me there has never been a more beautiful actor in the classic sense of physically perfect features. But nobody's mentioned the gorgeous Frenchman who died young--Gerard Philippe. I loved Belmondo--but he was sexy, not beautiful. Olivier was a truly beautiful young man, and of course Errol Flynn. More recently Jude Law (played the same role as Delon in Purple Noon in "The Talented Mr. Ripley". Matthew McConnaughey was stunning when I first saw him.
- How soon we forget Steve Reeves
